The Prince and Princess of Wales had no idea their decision not to move into the Royal Lodge would spark an all-out fraternal war that makes William and Harry’s look like a tea party!

With King Charles desperately trying to oust a stubborn Prince Andrew from the 30-room mansion, insiders confirm their younger brother Edward has put his hat in the ring to take command of the estate.

ROYAL LODGE BATTLE

“It’s a complete disaster that appears to be getting more complicated the longer it’s dragged out,” says a palace insider.

“Andrew wants it for Beatrice and Eugenie while Edward and Sophie make a compelling financial case in terms of the work that needs to be done.

“But more serious is the matter of the King’s wishes, and he wants it for Camilla. Charles is deeply worried about the Queen being cast aside in the event of his death. And as sad as it is, the entire palace has been preparing for that, even before his diagnosis. So it’s become a huge priority.”

The King’s first reported attempts at evicting Andrew was shortly before ex-wife Sarah, Duchess of York, revealed her cancer diagnosis in August 2023. No doubt prioritising her wellbeing, Charles agreed to allow the Yorks to remain at the Lodge while she recovered.

However, since then, Charles has had his own shock diagnosis to face. And his priorities have completely changed. “William will inherit control of everything. And even though their relationship is much stronger these days, Charles still worries about Camilla’s future when he’s gone,” adds the insider.

“He wants her to be comfortably set up for life in Windsor.”

ANDREW MUST GO!

Edward and Sophie look sad over Royal Lodge battle, perhaps?

However, Prince Andrew is not going down without a fight. “He still has a 75-year lease he signed with the Queen and argues that ever since Bertie and Elizabeth in the ’30s, it’s been the family home of the York duchy,” says an insider.

“He wants it to stay in his family until that lease is up in 2078. One problem though, he’s not exactly been a good tenant, has he? He’s got absolutely no way of finding the money to pay for the extremely urgent repairs that had he taken care of, he wouldn’t be facing eviction.”

Royal commentator Hugo Vickers is also in support of Andrew downgrading. “I’m sorry the Queen died before she sorted him out, which she could have done,” he tells The Sun

“She could have bought him a house somewhere where he would be safe and out of the way and this sort of issue would not be coming up.”

Unlike Andrew, Prince Edward and Sophie have been extremely frugal with their fortune, which is why they’ve reportedly stepped forward as the new caretakers of the historic estate.

“Sophie and Edward are serious contenders to take this project on and do an excellent job,” adds the insider.

“They’ve completely thrown a spanner into an already difficult situation, which is why Charles has had to come clean on his somewhat unpopular plan to house Camilla.

“Needless to say, all hell’s broken loose. And if it’s not sorted out soon, there is a push for William to step in and take back the Lodge, just to settle what’s becoming a very uncomfortable fraternal war.”

King Charles stepped into the role he’d been preparing for his entire life in 2022 after the tragic passing of his mother Queen Elizabeth.

Known for his environmental advocacy, charitable endeavours and dedication to public service, King Charles has proven himself a capable and compassionate leader, not even letting a cancer diagnosis slow him down.

However, beyond his royal duties, there’s another side to Charles that the public rarely sees – his role as devoted grandfather.

King Charles is a proud grandfather to five young royals: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor. His affection for them runs deep and is expressed in the way he speaks about them and the moments they share together.

And in this case, it’s even evident in the way the King accessorises himself. On his trip to Guernsey along with Queen Camilla, the monarch was spotted wearing a yellow-and-red string friendship bracelet.

It’s very similar to the one his grandaughter and ‘Swiftie”-in-training Princess Charlotte was wearing at Wimbledon

Charles often talks about the joy his grandchildren bring into his life. He delights in their milestones from their first steps to their budding personalities. And despite the demands of his position, he prioritises spending quality time with them.

He’s also great with Camilla’s five grandkids. “My grandchildren absolutely adore him,” she has revealed. “He reads Harry Potter and he can do all the different voices – I think children really appreciate that.”

Here we look at some of the King’s most heart-warming “Grandpa” moments.

01

The birth of Prince Louis 2018

The then-Prince embraced the joyous news of Louis’ birth, showing off a softer side.

In a statement made on Tuesday, April 24 2018, King Charles spoke on behalf of himself and his wife Camilla, saying: “We are both so pleased at the news.

“It is a great joy to have another grandchild, the only trouble is I don’t know how I am going to keep up with them,” he jested.

Queen’s Platinum Jubilee 2022

After two hours of watching a pageant pass by in the street below the stands where he was sitting with his family, young Prince Louis, only just four, couldn’t sit still a moment longer. He wriggled in his seat, pulled faces and didn’t mind his mum Catherine, Princess of Wales when she tried to get him to behave.

When Louis spotted his grandfather, the then Prince Charles, that was it. The little royal popped himself up on Grandpa’s knee. And Charles immediately sprung into action, bouncing him up and down and rocking him from side-to-side to the music from the parade. The monarch also pointed to what was happening, keeping young Louis occupied and happy.

03

The birth of Prince George 2013

Charles and Camilla were in Yorkshire on an official visit when daughter-in-law Kate gave birth to George on 22 July 2013. They flew by helicopter to London, where a full police escort rushed them to St Mary’s Hospital to meet the new heir to the throne.

They stayed for only 10 minutes before returning to Yorkshire to continue their engagements. The next day, Charles admitted to members of the public he met that he had cracked open the bubbly the night before and was “thrilled and overjoyed” about becoming a grandfather for the first time.

Of Prince George’s birth, Camilla said, “It’s a wonderfully uplifting moment for the country. ” She then added that Charles would make a “wonderful grandfather. He’s very good with children.”

04

The birth of Princess Charlotte 2015

Following Charlotte’s birth in 2015, Charles was again beaming with happiness. He vowed to “spoil her, absolutely”.

William admitted his father was “positively obsessed” with the new princess. “As the father of sons, it was something he was missing.”

The proud grandpa told members of the public on one engagement that “Charlotte is simply gorgeous, a beautiful child.” He added that, “She already sleeps through the night and is much easier on Mum than George.”

05

Meeting Lilibet 2022

With Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex living in the US with their children, it’s often difficult for King Charles to see them in person.

However, it was revealed that when the Sussexes and their two children Archie who was three at the time and Lilibet who was only one, jetted over to the UK for the Queen’s 2022 Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Charles was “very emotional” when he met his youngest grandchild for the first time.

Speaking at the briefing of Clarence House’s annual review, a senior royal source said: “It was fantastic to see them. It was wonderful to have them back in Britain. The Prince and the Duchess were absolutely thrilled to see them.

“[He] hasn’t seen his grandson Archie for a bit of time and so it was very, very, very special to have some time with him.

“He hadn’t met Lili, his granddaughter, and so to meet her was very emotional, a very, very wonderful thing.”

When will Catherine, Princess of Wales officially be returning to public royal duties? https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/kate-middleton-return-to-royal-duties/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 00:38:14 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=516624 She's planning a "summer break".

When Catherine, Princess of Wales made her highly-anticipated return to public life at the 2024 Trooping the Colour, royal watchers everywhere breathed a sigh of relief at seeing their beloved Princess looking well.

Coupled with her recent appearance at the 2024 men’s singles Wimbledon final, fans remained hopeful of her re-joining her family at some high-profile events.

But these two appearances don’t necessarily mean she’ll be returning to public duties anytime soon. Here’s what we know so far.

The Princess of Wales’ long-awaited public appearance at Trooping the Colour marked the first time she had been seen in an official capacity since Christmas Day 2023, and she looked as radiant as ever at the event.

Catherine then attended the final day of Wimbledon on 14 July, where she was met with a standing ovation from spectators in the stands.

But do these appearances mark her official return to royal duties? Unfortunately, no.

Catherine is still undergoing preventative chemotherapy to treat an undisclosed form of cancer, but her attendance at the parade and tennis tournament hopefully signify her treatment is going well and she’ll be back to her regular duties relatively soon.

Whilst Kensington Palace confirmed Kate Middleton’s presence at the Trooping the Colour shortly ahead of the day, they also quickly shut down any prospects of her attending the annual Garter Day on 17 June, as well as the Royal Ascot racing carnival – an event which is traditionally attended by senior members of the royal family.

In her touching personal statement confirming her attendance at the King’s birthday parade, the Princess of Wales admitted that she still has both “good days and bad days”, which means her appearance at upcoming events will likely depend on how she feels at the time.

According to her statement, Catherine will start to do some work from home as she feels better, and she also shared her “hope to join a few public engagements over the summer” – one such event being the Wimbledon final.

The Sun have reported that the princess will start to hold meetings with palace staff as well as representatives from the Royal Foundation and the Centre for Early Childhood – both being charities she is a patron of.

A spokesperson for Catherine has also confirmed that the palace will only give updates on face-to-face work meetings when “appropriate” and relevant.

Kensington Palace has yet to confirm Kate’s next official public engagement, and well-placed sources have now told Vanity Fair that both Prince William and Princess Catherine are planning to take a “summer break” at their Norfolk property, where they can spend time with their three children.

The Princess was candid and honest about her cancer journey in her statement, admitting she is “learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

Sarah Ferguson postpones Australia visit so as not to “distract” from King Charles’ 2024 royal tour https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/fergie-australia-visit/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 00:15:58 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=505636 She was down under earlier this year.

The post Sarah Ferguson postpones Australia visit so as not to “distract” from King Charles’ 2024 royal tour appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Sarah Ferguson recently visited Australia for the Global Citizen NOW summit in Melbourne in March 2024, and while she was set to return down under again later in the year, it has now been revealed she has postponed her upcoming trip.

“With regret, Sarah, Duchess of York has decided to withdraw from the Festival of Fiction, so as not to distract or detract in any way from the tour of Australia by His Majesty the King, which has recently been announced,” a statement shared on the festival’s Instagram page wrote.

The Duchess of York was going to be attending a writer’s festival in Perth, the Festival of Fiction, which takes place on 19 October. However, this date falls exactly within the King and Queen’s upcoming tour of Australia.

As such, she postponed her trip and will instead “be returning to Perth on November 1 at 6.30pm for a special event at Joondalup Resort.”

Sarah, also known as “Fergie”, then apologised for any inconvenienced caused by the change of date.

It is likely that the 64-year-old will be speaking about her latest book, A Woman of Intrigue, at the event. The mother of Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie is the author of over 55 books in total, including multiple children’s books as well as romance novels.

When announcing the news of her original visit down under in March, Sarah spoke about how her three grandchildren inspired her for the major personal trip.

Sarah, Duchess of York has two grandsons and one granddaughter: August (three), Ernest (one), and Sienna (two).

Since becoming a grandmother, Sarah has revealed she’s become “acutely aware of [her] responsibility” to improve the state of the world for future generations.

The Global Citizen NOW event was co-chaired by Sarah, and at the summit she engaged with young leaders who are working to address the climate crisis, as well as end poverty and improve girls’ education.

The Duchess of York announced that she would be attending Global Citizen NOW via an Instagram post, where she uploaded a portrait of herself and wrote: “I am pleased to announce […] I am coming to Melbourne to participate in vital intergenerational conversations with young leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region, who are doing frontline, grassroots work to address the climate crisis, the hunger crisis, girls’ education and issues perpetuating cycles of extreme poverty.

“I look forward to listening to them, learning from them, and contributing whatever voice I have to speak up for the future of our planet. My parents always highlighted the need to champion the quiet voice of Mother Nature, and now even more so since becoming a grandmother I’ve become acutely aware of my responsibility, and that of my generation, to do everything we can to improve the state of the world we are leaving for our grandchildren.”

The event featured activists, world leaders, business leaders, and artists to bring awareness to these issues.

Special (in-person and virtual) attendees included other big names such as Hugh Jackman, Charlie Puth, Crowded House, Julia Gillard and Osher Günsberg, among others.

The news of Sarah’s March trip came merely weeks after she announced that she was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, in January 2024 – less than a year after facing breast cancer.

Sarah, mother to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, said her diagnosis was a shock but she was “in the best hands and feeling positive”.

“After undergoing a mastectomy and reconstruction, I could only hope that I was in the clear, which is why a new diagnosis of skin cancer came as a shock,” she said. “I’m now in the best hands and feeling positive with the support of my family.”

In a heart-warming moment at Wimbledon, Catherine, Princess of Wales was given a standing ovation as she made her way to Centre Court to watch Carlos Alcaraz’s victory over Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles final.

The Princess, 42, looking radiant in purple – one of Wimbledon’s official colours – attended the tournament with her daughter Princess Charlotte, nine, and sister Pippa Middleton, 40.

This marks Kate’s second public appearance since her shock cancer diagnosis in March, following Trooping the Colour where she also received an outpouring of public support.

PRINCESS CATHERINE’S ROYAL DUTY

Princess Catherine has been the patron of the All England Club since 2016. And her ceremonial duties include handing out the winner’s trophies after the singles finals. It’s something the crowds look forward to each year.

Initially, plans were made for the Duchess of Gloucester, who has served as Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association for 25 years, to step in if the Princess of Wales was unable to attend due to her ongoing treatment.

However, Buckingham Palace confirmed before the event that Princess Catherine would indeed be in attendance.

And you could tell by Kate’s beaming smile at the event that she was thrilled to be back court-side, honouring the players for their incredible effort.

It was such a lovely moment, watching the Princess make her way down from the stands to the playing surface to present the trophies, the crowd in awe of Catherine’s strength and grace.

On her way, she smiled and shook hands with some of the tournament’s ball kids. She also struck up some friendly chit-chat with both players and clapped for Carlos after giving him the trophy for the second year in a row.

“ENJOY THE WIN”

The Princess told Carlos that he “played so well”. (Image: Getty)

Inside the tournament’s main stadium, Catherine told Carlos, “You played so well. Enjoy the win.”

On seeing Kate at the event in his post-match news conference, Novak said, “It was, of course, a privilege to be in her presence again. I’ve said to her that it is very nice to see her in good health. She seems to be in good health.

“That’s obviously very positive news for everyone in this country, but also for Wimbledon.”

After the event culminated, Princess Catherine shared a beautiful image of herself at Wimbledon, captioned: “Great to be back at @Wimbledon!

“There’s nothing quite like The Championships 🎾

Of course, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ comments blew up with overwhelming positivity for Catherine.

WIMBLEDON WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN THE SAME

It was the perfect mother-daughter day. (Image: Instagram)

Actress Olivia Munn commented: “You’re a champion. 🤍🤍🤍”.

Another commented: “So wonderful to see you looking healthy and beautiful. Welcome back, Princess Catherine and Princess Charlotte!”

And journalist and royal correspondent for Vanity Fair Katie Nicholl said what we all were thinking: “It wouldn’t have been the same without you Your Royal Highness 💜”.

Prince William is usually a regular at Wimbledon finals. However, he missed Sunday as he planned to be in Germany to watch England face Spain in the final of the men’s soccer European Championship. William is the president of the English Football Association.

Here, we take a look back at all Catherine, Princess of Wales’ best Wimbledon moments.

Despite his ongoing cancer battle, King Charles is set to make his first trip to Australia as Monarch in late 2024.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on July 14, 2024 that the King and Queen will be visiting Australia this year.

Despite his cancer battle, King Charles is set to visit Australia in 2024.

“The King has shown his compassion for Australians affected by recent natural disasters, just as Australians have shown compassion and support for the King following his cancer diagnosis,” Anthony Albanese said of the royal’s trip.

“The King, Queen and members of the Royal Family are always welcome in Australia. My Government is engaging with States and Territories on options for a possible Royal visit.”

Initially, Charles and Camilla were set to tour Australia as part of a long-haul trip, with visits to neighbouring countries including New Zealand.

However, amid fears that the King is doing too much, their visit to New Zealand has been scrapped. A source told The Daily Mirror: “Naturally, it will be a bitter disappointment on both sides to not have the opportunity for the King and Queen to visit New Zealand.

“But all are aware of the King’s ongoing health issues and the need for him to pace himself. It’s very much hoped there will be further opportunities in the future.”

Insiders reveal that the Australian leg of the tour will now be reduced to just six days, with Charles and Camilla taking a two-day break before travelling to Samoa for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

A government spokesman told The Australian newspaper that “the Prime Minister enjoys a warm relationship with the King and looks forward to welcoming His Majesty to Australia later this year”.

In a new book based on King Charles, the author, Robert Hardman explained that he believes the King has a loving relationship with Australia after he spent time here during his schooldays.

King Charles’ visit to Australia will be his first since becoming King, and will be the first visit to Australia by a ruling British monarch since Elizabeth II visited in October 2011.

The royal tour will coincide with the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa, at which both Charles and Camilla are expected to attend.

Taking place from 21 to 25 October in 2024, the CHOGM occurs every two years and features leaders from the 56 Commonwealth member nations.

The last time the British royals visited Australia was in April 2018, when they represented Queen Elizabeth at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, and opened the ceremony.

The late Queen Elizabeth II visited Australia 16 times over the course of her reign, each time accompanied by her husband, Prince Philip who sadly passed away April 2021. Her first visit to Australia as Monarch was in 1954, with her final trip being in October 2011.

It is a significant event for King Charles as it marks his first royal tour of Australia since becoming the reigning monarch, and will be the first time for the Australian people to see their new King.

Since becoming King and Queen, Charles and Camilla have completed state visits to Germany, France and Kenya, and have hosted leaders from around the world.

In May 2023, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met with King Charles at Buckingham Palace ahead of the King’s coronation.

Whilst Wimbledon is an annual grand slam tennis tournament, it is also an iconic English event that numerous celebrities attend every year.

But arguably no celebrity appearances have been quite as iconic as those by the British royal family.

Wimbledon is a tournament packed with plenty of tennis action from the world’s best players, but it’s also an opportunity for attendees to don their most stylish looks, and watch sporting history take place.

The royal family has had a close connection to Wimbledon for many years now, and Catherine, Princess of Wales is not only a regular at the event, but is also patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

The princess is an avid tennis fan, and has been since her youth. She has only ever missed Wimbledon once, in 2013, when she was heavily pregnant with Prince George.

Speaking on her love of the event, Catherine told Sue Barker on a 2017 BBC documentary that, “I have watched Wimbledon, that was very much part of my growing up. It’s such a quintessential part of the English summer, and I think it really inspires youngsters, myself, it inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game. It hasn’t changed either, I think that’s what’s so wonderful.”

The Princess of Wales has presented the iconic trophy to the winner multiple times, and even had a hit against former world number one, Roger Federer in 2023.

But Kate’s not the only royal who is fond of Wimbledon. Below, we round up the most iconic moments from the royal family at Wimbledon over the years.

Princess Anne admits she “can’t remember a single thing” in triumphant return to royal duties https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/princess-anne-health/ Sat, 13 Jul 2024 08:50:35 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=517290 The Princess Royal is back in the saddle again.

Princess Anne is as well known for her tireless commitment to public service as she is for her love of horses. Unfortunately, the latter saw the Princess Royal spend five days in hospital with a concussion and minor head injuries.

On the day of the incident, the 73-year-old was seen walking near the horses on her Gatcombe Park estate. And, while the exact cause of her injuries remains uncertain, her medical team suggested they were consistent with an impact from a horse’s head or legs.

PRINCESS ANNE IS BACK

Anne looked healthy and well, despite a bruised face, as she stepped out in public for the first time in almost three weeks. She was attending the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships on 12 July 2024.

The RDA was celebrating its 55th anniversary. And her Royal Highness was beaming from ear to ear to be back to her royal duties, chatting to members of the public.

In true Princess-Royal fashion, reports confirm that one of the first things she said as she got out of the car was, “I can’t remember a single thing about it.” And that’s that. It’s business as usual for this “hardest-working royal“.

The Royal Diary, which is published weeks in advance, currently lists Princess Anne’s next scheduled outing as a visit to the NLV Pharos ship off the west coast of Scotland in her role as Patron of the Northern Lighthouse Board on July 15th and 16th.

The royal was discharged from hospital on June 28th to recuperate comfortably at home. Her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence thanked the Southmead Hospital team for “their care, expertise and kindness” during her stay.

Princess Anne’s hospitalisation is the latest health challenge facing the Royal Family. Her brother King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales have both been hit with a cancer diagnosis this year, limiting their public engagements.

Controversy unfolds over Prince George’s schooling https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/royal-family-school-79077/ Thu, 11 Jul 2024 01:30:17 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/royals/british-royal-family/royal-family-school-79077 Princess Kate is "heartbroken".

The British royal children’s education has many rules and traditions behind it, but the Prince and Princess of Wales have not always followed them.

Princess Kate and Prince William‘s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis returned for their second year at Lambrook School in the Berkshire countryside in early September 2023.

However, now, the controversy surrounds where Prince George will be going to University.

Prince George’s schooling is a hot-button issue with mum and dad. (Image: Getty)

Mum and dad first displayed they weren’t interested in British royal tradition after sending their children to a co-ed school.

But now it’s rumoured that the royal couple have been having heated discussions over Prince George’s schooling, which have left the Princess heartbroken.

A RETURN TO TRADITION?

Currently, it’s said the young prince is set to attend the all-boys secondary school Eton, which is the same institution attended by his father and uncle Prince Harry. However, mum Princess Kate is worried about him going to an all-boys ‘upper-crust’ boarding school given her experience with bullying at the elite girls boarding school in Berkshire she attended called Downe House.

Her time there was so horrible that she left mid-term and enrolled at Marlborough College, a co-ed boarding school in Wiltshire. She stayed there for the rest of her schooling and is keen for George to attend her alma mater as well. If this were to occur, however, Prince George would be the first to break tradition between his father and grandfather, King Charles, by attending a co-ed school.

“Kate long disagreed with her husband about sending him away, even though it’s tradition,” a palace insider told InTouch Weekly.

The source added Kate, who is currently taking a break from public duties while undergoing treatment for cancer, was “finally giving in” to her husband’s wishes and he appears to have “won” the argument for now.

Let’s take a look at where the Royals went to school.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte first attended school at Thomas’s Battersea in London before the family relocated to Windsor.

From there, all three children currently attend Lambrook School in the Berkshire countryside.

The prep school is one of the top schools in the UK and goes beyond the traditional curriculum, offering amazing sporting and performing arts facilities.

The school term fees range from £4,389 (AUD $7,670) for reception to year two, then jumping to £6,448 (AUD $11,268) from year three onwards.

Although, the children were home-schooled during the global pandemic in 2020 which presented challenges for the children, William and Kate:

Prince William and Prince Harry both attended Ludgrove School near Wokingham in Berkshire, a 30-minute drive from the Queen’s Windsor Castle.

More famously both boys went on to attend Eton College which was a topic pick for his mother, the late Princess Diana as members of the Spencer family, including her father and brother, went to Eton.

The Prince of Wales studied at the University of St Andrews where he initially started a degree majoring in art history before switching to geography in his second year and graduated with a Master of Arts.

Harry decided to opt out of university and entered Sandhurst, Britain’s military academy for training army officers, and was commissioned as an officer in 2006.

King Charles began his education at Hill House School in West London before moving to Cheam School.

He then went on to Gordonstoun where he would become the first of three royal generations to attend with Princes Andrew and Edward after.

Different to her brothers, Princess Anne was educated at home similar to her mother, for the first 13 years of her education.

Reportedly Anne asked to be sent to school like her siblings and started at Benenden School in Kent in 1963.

In October 1967 Prince Charles was admitted to Trinity College at the University of Cambridge where he read Archaeology & Anthropology and then History.

Prince Edward went on to study at Jesus College, Cambridge, graduating with a degree in History. He then spent three years in the Royal Marines as a University Cadet.

Princess Anne did not go to university, but chose to follow her passion as an equestrian and in 1976 competed in the Olympic Games riding one of her mother’s horses.

Prince Andrew did not attend university either, but completed a Royal Navy commissioning course at Britannia Royal Naval College and other courses during his military career.

Meghan Markle is “very pleased” with how her latest business venture American Riviera Orchard has started https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/meghan-markle-business/ Thu, 11 Jul 2024 00:41:55 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=507947 The Duchess has launched a lifestyle brand.

The post Meghan Markle is “very pleased” with how her latest business venture American Riviera Orchard has started appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
After returning to Instagram for the first time in four years, Meghan Markle used the social media platform to announce her latest business venture in mid-March 2024.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, revealed the launch of a new lifestyle brand called American Riviera Orchard.

A new website and Instagram page also went live for Meghan Markle’s new project ahead of the announcement.

The bio for the American Riviera Orchard Instagram page simply reads, “By Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex. Established 2024,” and we haven’t been given too many details about the brand as of yet.

At the time, the Instagram account uploaded a story of the Duchess of Sussex picking flowers and cooking in a kitchen, hinting at the type of the project this will be.

The brand uploaded this story last week. (Image: Instagram)

The name of the new brand, American Riviera Orchard, seems to be a reference to Meghan and her husband Prince Harry’s current place of residence: Santa Barbara in California.

According to Travel & Leisure, for more than 100 years Santa Barbara has been known as the American Riviera “because of its temperate climate and lush landscapes, as well as its robust food and wine culture.”

The logo for the brand also includes the word Montecito, which is the specific neighbourhood in which the Sussexes live.

A trademark application for the American Riviera Orchard brand reveals that the lifestyle business intends to sell tableware, drinkware, kitchen linens, edible treats such as jellies, jams, marmalade and spreads, and cookbooks.

It seems her range is already expanding, despite the business not having officially launched yet, as the Duchess of Sussex has continued to pursue trademarks for more products.

There have been additional trademark applications for cosmetic products, home home décor, stationery, linens, kitchen appliances, condiments, yoga equipment, gardening gear and pet accessories.

Not only that, but the 42-year-old also sent some of her homemade jam to close friends and fellow celebrities. The recipients included the likes of Kris Jenner, Tracee Ellis Ross, Mindy Kaling, Chrissy Teigen, and Meghan’s Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.

A source told Us Weekly that the Duchess is “very pleased” with the strong start American Riviera Orchard has had so far.

“The rollout for American Riviera Orchard is already off to a strong start. The website has over 100,000 who have signed up to hear about the first products launched,” an insider shared“Meghan is very pleased with the early interest it has gained.”

The brand also appears to be similar to Meghan’s previous lifestyle blog, The Tig, which was used from 2014 to 2017.

On The Tig, Meghan shared insights into her favourite foods, travel discoveries and personal reflections.

“I’ve never been the type of person to do only one thing. I guess that’s how my website was born,” Meghan said in her 2022 documentary Harry & Meghan

“There was fashion, there was tons of food, and travel, so it was all of the things that I loved. And The Tig wasn’t just a hobby. It became a really successful business.”

Meghan has dabbled in lifestyle-related work in the past. (Image: Getty)

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are no strangers to starting new businesses, as they have embarked on numerous ventures over the past few years.

Meghan launched a podcast named Archetypes and also invested in an oat milk coffee company. Meanwhile, Prince Harry released his memoir, Spare, in 2023.

The couple have also made deals with Netflix, releasing a docuseries about themselves in 2022 and will also be producing a number of projects for the streaming giant too. Two of these non-fiction series have reportedly already wrapped production, with Meghan appearing in a cooking show and Prince Harry in a docuseries about his beloved sport of polo.

Additionally, the pair have continually worked on their non-profit organisation, the Archewell Foundation, for many years.

The launch of the American Riviera Orchard Instagram page marks the first time either of the Sussexes have used social media since 2020 when the pair made their last update to their @SussexRoyal Instagram page after stepping back as working members of the royal family.

Meghan shut down all of her personal social media profiles and The Tig blog after getting engaged to Prince Harry in 2018.

Everything to know about the parents of Catherine Middleton, the Princess of Wales https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/parents-of-catherine-middleton/ Tue, 09 Jul 2024 05:46:59 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519149 Meet Carole and Michael.

The post Everything to know about the parents of Catherine Middleton, the Princess of Wales appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Whilst we know her as Catherine, Princess of Wales, first she was just Kate Middleton.

Born in 1982 to parents Carole and Michael Middleton, Catherine was raised in Berkshire alongside her younger siblings: sister Pippa and brother James.

Before she was a princess, Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was simply a young English girl living with her family.

Her humble beginnings arguably shaped her into the person she is today, and she still remains close to both her parents and her siblings.

Here, we outline everything to know about the parents of Catherine Middleton, Carole and Michael.

Carole Middleton, née Goldsmith, was born on 31 January 1955, making her 69 years old.

She dabbled in an array of careers in her life, having started as a secretary and then joining British Airways as a flight attendant until her marriage to Michael on 21 June 1980.

Carole then founded a mail order company called Party Pieces in 1987, which went on to see great success.

Meanwhile, Michael Middleton is currently 75 years old, having been born on 23 June 1949.

He is a businessman who also worked as a flight dispatcher for British Airways, where he met his wife Carole.

The couple have three children together: Catherine, born in 1982, Philippa, born in 1983, and James, born in 1987.

The Middleton family currently resides at Bucklebury Manor in Berkshire, which is quite close to Prince William and Princess Catherine’s residence at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

The Middletons have multiple young grandchildren, with their three children having children of their own.

Catherine and William are parents to Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six, while Pippa also has three children with her husband James Matthews. Pippa’s children are Arthur, five, Grace, three, and Rose, two.

The youngest Middleton sibling, James has one child, Inigo, nine months, with his wife Alizee Thevenet.

Both Carole and Michael have been seen at numerous royal engagements since Kate’s marriage to the current heir to the British throne.

And recently, despite Catherine’s absence from public life due to her cancer treatment, they have continued to attend public events.

The Middletons attended the 2024 Royal Ascot alongside their son-in-law William, and were also spotted at the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

As royal adjacents, the Middletons have become quite close to the royal family. It’s understood that Carole in particular shared a strong bond with the late Queen Elizabeth II.

“I’ve never known a family drawn into the royal family like the Middletons,” one observer at Balmoral Castle in 2016 told PEOPLE.

Another source added that, “The Middleton parents really could be the people next door. They are lucky their daughter is going to be the future queen, but there are no delusions of grandeur.”

Prince William to star in new documentary about important initiative close to his heart https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/prince-william-documentary/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 06:46:02 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519029 It’s set to be released later this year.

Ending homelessness has long been a cause close to Prince William’s heart, and he created an initiative, the Homewards program, in an attempt to create real change.

Now, the all-important cause will be shown in a new light thanks to an upcoming documentary that will feature the Prince of Wales, 42.

The upcoming docuseries, titled Prince William: We Can End Homelessness, will showcase the first of the five-year Homewards program initiative. It’s set to be released on ITV1 and ITVX in the coming months.

Audiences will see Prince William launch the initiative in the United Kingdom and capture the raw, authentic and vulnerable stories of individuals facing homelessness, as well as those who have experienced it at some point in their lives.

The docuseries will also acknowledge and highlight the individuals and organisations who have committed to advocating for the homeless, as well as combating the issue.

Homelessness is a cause close to his heart. (Image: Getty)

We Can End Homelessness will be directed by BAFTA Award-winner Leo Burley who stated, “Over the past year we have spent time following Prince William and The Royal Foundation through the first year of the Homewards program. We’ve heard some incredibly moving stories from people across the country facing homelessness.

“From street homelessness in Newport, to families living in temporary accommodation in Sheffield, and youth homelessness in Aberdeen, the documentary paints a picture of homelessness across the UK today, working with many people who never expected to experience life without a place to call home.

“Everyone we’ve filmed with has welcomed the spotlight that Prince William and Homewards are placing on the UK’s homelessness crisis.”

Homewards was founded in June 2023 by Prince William and The Royal Foundation, with the goal of making homelessness “rare, brief and unrepeated” within the next five years.

They also aim to raise awareness, inspire optimism, work locally, and provide unprecedented support to those experiencing homelessness.

The Prince of Wales has spoken about how the topic has become an important one even within his own household, and he often has open conversations with his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis about homelessness.

“On the school run, we talk about what we see. Driving backwards and forwards [in London], we regularly used to see people sitting outside supermarkets and we’d talk about it,” William told The Sunday Times.

The prince also added that he believes the discussions are important for his family. “I think it’s in all our interests, it’s the right thing to do, to expose the children, at the right stage, in the right dialogue, so they have an understanding.”

“They [will] grow up knowing that actually, some of us are very fortunate, some of us need a helping hand, some of us need to do more and help others improve their lives,” he said.

Princess Diana inspired her sons to follow in her footsteps to create positive change. (Image: Getty)

From a young age, Prince William’s late mother, Princess Diana made a point of teaching her sons about life outside of the royal family, and instilled in them many charitable and selfless values and beliefs that both William and his brother Prince Harry still uphold everyday in their line of work.

Diana believed in compassion and empathy and often visited homeless shelters along with her boys, which made a lasting impression on them.

It’s likely that the Homewards project was fuelled by William’s desire to make positive change in the world, just like his mother.

Peter Phillips, the eldest son of Princess Anne, has seemingly confirmed his relationship status after attending the 2024 Royal Ascot hand-in-hand with his new girlfriend, Harriet Sperling.

The news comes merely months following Peter’s split from his previous partner Lindsay Wallace, with the pair’s separation announced in early April.

Peter, 46, first brought Harriet, a paediatric nurse, to the Badminton Horse Trials on 12 May. In a break from royal tradition, it’s reported the pair were spotted holding hands at the event.

The event was also attended by other members of the royal family, including Queen Camilla along with Peter’s two daughters Savannah, 13, and Isla, 12.

It is unknown how long the pair have been dating for, but Peter’s introduction of Harriet to his family and the Queen, likely insinuates that the relationship is becoming serious.

The following day, Peter and Harriet were seen strolling around hand-in-hand at the horse trials in a photo published by The Sun. A witness at the event told the publication that the pair “looked completely smitten” as the late Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grandchild was “grinning from ear to ear.”

“She looked very happy and relaxed in his company and pleased to be shown off at one of the biggest social events in the equestrian world,” they shared.

“His love life has certainly taken some very public twists and turns in recent years.

“But they looked extremely close and seemed like they had known each other for some time. They certainly seemed very happy and appeared to be over any past relationship woes,” the witness added.

Peter was with his former partner, Lindsay Wallace, for four years and the 46-year-old introduced her to the late Queen Elizabeth before her passing.

Peter and Lindsay made their public debut as a couple at the Epsom Derby in June 2022, attending several royal family events together during the course of their relationship.

Among those events were high-profile celebrations including King Charles’ Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle in May 2023, and the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

According to HELLO!, the pair “made the difficult decision to separate as they were spending less time together with work and family commitments.”

Lindsay was Peter’s first girlfriend following his divorce from his ex-wife of 13 years, Autumn Kelly.

The pair finalised their separation in 2020 and share two daughters together, Savannah and Isla.

Queen Camilla is an avid reader and host of the podcast The Reading Room. And she loves sharing her all-time favourite books. Luckily, so does her daughter-in-law Princess Kate!

“There is no friend as loyal as a book,” Queen Camilla once posted to her Instagram, sharing Ernest Hemingway’s famous quote.

And the 76-year-old’s love of reading has been a lifelong passion, with Queen Camilla and Princess Kate regularly sharing their favourite books, as well as which ones made them cry.

A fan of the classics, Camilla has even lent her voice to narrate children’s books and invests her own personal funds into literacy projects, because she believes reading leads to “a happier, healthier and more prosperous life.

QUEEN CAMILLA ON THE MAGIC OF BOOKS

“Like climbing through the wardrobe into Narnia, stories open doors into different worlds. They stretch our imagination and get our brains buzzing,” says Camilla of her favourite books.

“We fall in love with heroes and heroines and can’t turn the pages fast enough to find out what happens… stories help us to understand our world and the people in it.”

The wife of King Charles fell in love with books at a young age, thanks to her father Major Bruce Shand.

“He was probably the best-read man I’ve come across, anywhere,” she said. “I mean he devoured books. And so, he read to us as children. He chose the books, and we listened. And I think the love of books was ingrained in us, because you know, it was there from such an early age.”

A FAMILY AFFAIR

It’s a tradition she’s happily passed on to her children and now, grandchildren.

“I love it. I read to them when they were absolutely tiny,” shares Queen Camilla. “And they’ve got older and older and older, and now they actually read to me.”

Known as “Gaga” to her five grandchildren, Camilla’s also step-grandmother to five on the King’s side.

Charles is equally passionate about books, with the shelves at Clarence House crammed full of books on gardening, the environment, poetry and plenty of thrillers.

Queen Camilla says her husband leaves the kids “spellbound” with his dramatic readings of Harry Potter stories. “He does all the voices because he’s a brilliant mimic… He’s extremely good with children. They love it.”

Prince Harry is in a panic over allegations he destroyed evidence https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/prince-harry-destroyed-evidence/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518854 Harry's bombshell texts deleted!

Prince Harry was awarded $250,000 in damages in his phone-hacking case against a British tabloid in December, hailing it “a great day for truth”. But just over six months on from his win, the royal has been accused of “deliberately destroying” evidence in the latest round of the bombshell court case!

Now, speculation is mounting that deleted text messages between Prince Harry and Spare ghostwriter JR Moehringer could relate to unflattering messages about his family. And they may not paint the royal in such a favourable light!

Harry’s lawyers say it’s just a “fishing expedition” but, nonetheless, Harry’s feeling rattled. (Image: Getty)

THE ‘MISSING’ EVIDENCE

“Whether or not Harry purposefully deleted the texts is to be decided. But it’s also raised questions about what Harry might have said and why he might not want them to be aired publicly,” spills a royal insider.

“Harry hinted at a string of confronting texts between himself and his brother Prince William during his Netflix show. And while he has been at pains to paint William as a bully in his memoir and his TV show, he hasn’t revealed what kind of messages he might have been sending to receive such strong responses from his brother.”

Prince Harry, 39, has been battling for years with the publishers of Britain’s biggest tabloids over allegations they hacked his phone and hired private investigators to dig up dirt on him, with the trial expected to start in January 2025.

But last week, during a one-day hearing brought by News Group Newspapers in order to help gain access to documents, emails and messages related to Harry’s claim, a judge ordered the royal to explain why messages on the Signal messaging app, that could be relevant to the case, had been deleted.

Justice Timothy Fancourt said there was evidence that “a large number of potentially relevant documents” and “confidential messages” between Harry and JR Moehringer “were destroyed some time between 2021 and 2023, well after this claim was underway”.

Although Harry’s lawyer has deflected the allegations, saying it was a “fishing expedition”, an insider says the whole court ordeal has left the royal – and his wife, Duchess Meghan – feeling rattled.

LIVING NIGHTMARE

Redemption may not come easy. (Image: Getty)

“The panic in Montecito is real and Harry’s been getting an earful over his carelessness, not just from Meghan either,” the source explains. “He’s beginning to seriously regret going ahead with this case. He’s not used to lawsuits and keeping records – he has no idea about any of these things.”

As for the phone-hacking case, Harry has been ordered to disclose how drafts of his book and messages with his ghostwriter disappeared. His legal team must also write to staff of his father, King Charles, asking them for all records of communication with Harry. The judge ordered that a wider search was required of Prince Harry’s laptop, text and WhatsApp messages to look at exchanges from 2005 until nearly 2023.

“Aside from all the communications with the King and especially his brother, which are believed to be particularly nasty, there are the messages between him and Meghan, from their intimate messages to the more tense ones any couple has. Harry knows how easy it is for things to be misconstrued and he would hate for the contents of his messages to be made public,” reveals the insider.

“He worries if they are, any chance of him and Meghan redeeming themselves in the public eye – especially if there are attacks on Kate in there – would be non-existent.”

It has been revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have two new Netflix projects in the works.

Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan Markle’s, 42, company Archewell Productions have created two non-fiction television shows that have just wrapped production.

Meghan is passionate about food. (Image: Getty)

One of the series has been created by Meghan Markle, with her also acting as an executive producer, will “celebrate the joys of cooking and gardening, entertaining and friendship.”

From royalty to recipes, Meghan Markle will soon be returning to our screens with a new cooking show. The series, is reportedly part of the eye-watering nearly AU$150 million Netflix deal she and Harry signed after they exited Royal life.

It is no secret the Duchess of Sussexes passions lay in the kitchen with her former personal blog, The Tig, well documenting her love of food.

The Duchess of Sussex also has a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, which focuses on food and food-related products including preserved spreads, kitchenware and cookbooks.

While the show’s title has yet to be released, according to The Daily Beast, “all went well” on the project and “it is in the can.”

Meghan herself has kept her lips sealed on the project. But we can’t help but wonder if Harry, Archie and Lilibet will make an appearance. The couple’s children were seen in their Harry & Meghan docuseries, so it’s a definite possibility.

And as a ‘celebration of friendship’, it’s likely we’ll see some star-studded guest appearances across the series. On Meghan’s Archetypes podcast, she spoke with celebs like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey. And her inner circle reportedly includes friends like Amal Clooney and Chrissy Teigen.

Meanwhile, the other series the Sussexes have in the works in one Prince Harry is particularly interested in.

This series aims to “provide viewers unprecedented access to the world of professional polo,” a sport that Harry has played for decades.

The Duke often participates in charity polo matches, including a fundraiser for a charity he co-founded in 2006, Sentebale, aimed at helping children and young people affected by poverty, inequality and HIV/AIDS in Africa.

According to a statement, “known primarily for its aesthetic and social scene, the series will pull the curtain back on the grit and passion of the sport, capturing players and all it takes to compete at the highest level.”

Both Harry and Meghan are serving as producers on the series which was filmed primarily at the U.S. Open Polo Championship in Florida, which took place in April 2024.

Titles and release dates have not yet been confirmed for either show, but it is expected that the news will be revealed in the coming months.

The Chief Content Officer of Netflix spoke at the Next on Netflix event in February and confirmed that Meghan and Harry had several projects in development.

“They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on with Brandon [Reigg],” they said, according to HELLO! magazine.

“And they actually have like a bunch of development. They have a movie in development, a [scripted] series that they’re working on. So all very early development, with a movie, a TV show and a couple of unscripted shows. But yeah, the movie’s great.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a multiyear deal with Netflix following their departure from the United Kingdom and their royal duties in 2020, and thus far they have released their intimate docuseries, Harry & Meghan, the Live to Lead series and the Heart of Invictus docuseries on the streaming platform.

It was also confirmed in August 2023 that their production company Archewell Productions would be adapting Meet Me at the Lake, a romance novel by Carley Fortune, into a film.

All about Zara & Mike Tindall’s adorable three children https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/zara-tindall-children/ Fri, 05 Jul 2024 06:01:57 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518836 Meet Mia, Lena and Lucas.

The post All about Zara & Mike Tindall’s adorable three children appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
As members of the British royal family, Zara and Mike Tindall are no strangers to living in the public eye.

But despite their unique lifestyle, they’ve done everything they can to ensure their three children have a relatively normal upbringing.

When Zara Phillips, 43, met Mike Tindall, 45, in a chance encounter during separate trips to Australia in 2003, no one could have predicted the beautiful love story that would ensue between the pair.

After their first meeting, Zara and Mike quickly became inseparable, and they tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in July 2011.

Since then, they’ve gone on to welcome three children together: Mia Grace, Lena Elizabeth, and Lucas Philip.

Like their mother, the Tindall kids don’t have royal titles, to ensure they experience as normal a childhood as possible.

“I think it was probably easier for them, and I think most people would argue that there are downsides to having titles,” Princess Anne told Vanity Fair in 2020. “So I think that was probably the right thing to do.”

Here’s everything to know about Zara and Mike Tindall’s adorable three children.

Mia in 2023. (Image: Getty)

Zara and Mike’s eldest child, Mia Grace Tindall, was born on 17 January 2014, and she’s currently 22nd in line to the British throne.

“Thanks so much for all your kind messages,” Mike tweeted following the birth of Mia.

“Definitely the best day of my life today, so happy.! The girls are both doing great!”

Now 10 years old, Mia has been spotted at an array of royal engagements alongside her parents.

In 2018, she also acted as a bridesmaid in Princess Eugenie’s wedding to now-husband Jack Brooksbank.

Her appearance at the annual royal Christmas Day service in Sandringham in 2023 was her most recent public outing, where she was seen alongside her cousin Prince Charlotte and holding the hand of Prince Louis.

The Tindall’s next child was another daughter, Lena Elizabeth Tindall, who was born on 18 June 2018, and her middle name is an homage to her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

At the time of Lena’s arrival, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying, “Mrs. Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June. Mr. Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 9lbs 3oz.”

Soon after the now-six-year-old’s birth, Mike spoke to PEOPLE about what life was like with two children.

“It’s been brilliant so far,” he said. “So far, so good. I can’t complain. [Lena] eats, sleeps.”

Like her older sister, Lena has also appeared at many royal events over the course of her life, and has even become known for her fashion and style, making headlines after she wore one of her older cousins’ old coats.

Zara and Mike’s third and final child, Lucas Philip Tindall, was born on 21 March 2021. His middle name was given in tribute to his late great-grandfather, Prince Philip.

Unlike his older sisters, Lucas’ birth came rather suddenly and unexpectedly, and he arrived into the world in the family home’s bathroom!

“A little baby boy arrived at my house!” Mike said on his podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Rugby.

The former rugby star said they realised they wouldn’t have time to make it to the hospital, and they quickly had to prepare themselves for an at-home birth.

Luckily, the midwife was just around the corner and made it in time for the safe delivery of little Lucas.

Even though he is just three years old, royal spectators are already drawing similarities between the youngest Tindall and his namesake, Prince Philip.

His bright blonde hair is extremely similar to that of a young Philip, which can be seen in many official photographs of the royal from his childhood.

Zara and Mike are extremely loving and doting parents and are always so proud of their children, gushing over them whenever they get the chance.

As sportspeople themselves, the Tindalls have also spoken about their desire to get their kids involved in sports in any way they can.

“Whether it’s learning how to be a team member or determination. It has given me and Zara so much that we want to expose them to as many sports as we can,” Mike told HELLO!.

He added that at the moment, the children are enjoying “a mixture of rugby, hockey, swimming, and gymnastics.”

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and her eldest daughter Lady Louise Windsor, 20, are typically the picture of grace and sophistication. However, that doesn’t mean the royals don’t know how to have fun!

The Duchess, 59, took part in a cheeky drinking game during the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials over the weekend in Norfolk. And her husband Edward, Duke of Edinburgh managed to capture the entire thing on film.

He and the couple’s eldest daughter Lady Louise have possibly never laughed so hard, watching Sophie’s antics.

The Duchess was meant to down a glass of sparkling water as she drove the carriage and then set the glass down at the next stop. Well, at one point, Sophie didn’t manage to drink her bubbles in time. So next thing you know, she was left, hilariously, driving her carriage while gripping the wine glass with her teeth.

Sophie eventually finished the course, leaving her smiling for yet another reason. Earlier, she was crowned the new president of the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials.

Lady Louise also competed in events over the three-day competition. And, of course, mum Sophie was there, watching and cheering her on the entire time.

The event is extra special to the royals. Lady Louise’s late grandfather Prince Philip founded the Sandringham trials in 1982. It’s held every year the weekend after Royal Ascot.

However, this is only the most recent heart-warming moment mum and daughter have shared. Here, we take a closer look at their beautiful bond and sweetest memories over the years.

A BEAUTIFUL BOND: THE DUCHESS OF EDINBURGH AND HER DAUGHTER

Welcome to the world, Lady Louise Windsor

Lady Louise was born from an emergency C-section on November 8th. Being born four weeks premature, she developed a rare visual impairment leaving her with a squint that made it challenging to see well. But she ended up having surgery to correct the issue.

For mum Duchess Sophie, Louise’s health challenge was an opportunity. Thanks to her daughter, she dove in to support others around the world with similar problems.

The royal became a patron of the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness. She is also a global ambassador for Vision 2020 who’s on a mission to eliminate avoidable blindness over the next five years.

At an event, Sophie said, “I have seen sight being restored. And I can promise you there are few things more rewarding in this world than seeing someone step from the dark into the light.”

From a young age, Lady Louise’s royal responsibilities have been balanced, with a strong focus on having a normal childhood. It’s a balance that Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh was instrumental in maintaining.

That has meant Lady Louise, who is currently a student at St Andrew’s University, has remained largely out of the spotlight, except for some major royal events like this.

Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, has started appearing at more public royal events over the past few months, and at her most recent engagement she was seen with a new male friend by her side.

Could a new romance be blossoming for the 20-year-old? Here’s what we know so far.

On 28 June 2024, Lady Louise and Felix da Silva-Clamp attended the Sandringham Horse Driving Trials together in Norfolk, where they were photographed smiling and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Louise took part in the event, and Felix joined her by hopping on the back of her carriage.

An onlooker said that the pair “seemed very comfortable together. They were chatting and looking at each other all the way around. They went for a couple of walks together in between her two events as well, they are clearly very close.”

The young man was driven to the event by Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh and the onlooker said that “Felix and the Duchess looked very at ease with each other”.

They added that “they turned up in the car just ten minutes before Louise’s first event and watched her eagerly.”

While there has been no confirmation of a relationship between the two, Felix and Sophie’s comfortability around each other could allude to his close bond with Louise.

Felix is a student at St Andrew’s University in Scotland, where Louise also studies English Literature. It’s understood the pair first met at the school, and images of them together at a party have been shared on social media.

The pair reportedly first bonded over a shared interest in amateur dramatics, and appeared together in a production called Dragon Fever earlier this year, which was shown at the university’s Byre Theatre.

The play was described as “an ambitious cross between an Agatha Christie mystery and Tolkien’s The Hobbit”, and Lady Louise portrayed the “powerful and cynical witch” Nilvana, while Felix appeared as Mr Owl.

Whilst the pair met at St Andrew’s, Felix has ties to Australia thanks to his earlier education, as he attended Melbourne Grammar School.

He now works part-time as a gelato artist at Jannetta’s Gelateria at the university.

St Andrew’s is also the same university where William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ relationship first began in the early 2000s. Could another royal love story be unfolding on the premises?

Diana’s boys never felt unloved. “I think the biggest disease the world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved. I know that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I am very happy to do that, I want to do that.”

Long-time ‘Swiftie’ Prince William just became ‘dad of the year’, taking his two eldest children (and ‘Swifties’ in training) Prince George and Princess Charlotte to a Taylor Swift concert for his 42nd birthday bash.

Selfie time! They all look so happy. (Image: Instagram)

The three watched the show at Wembley Stadium, during the first night of the Eras tour stop in London on June 21.

Prince William was even filmed busting a few dance moves.

Fans of the royal family have taken to social media, declaring this type of outing “sounds like something Princess Diana would have done”.

A royal sleuth confirms this point, telling Woman’s Day: “His mum, the late Princess Diana, was never afraid to be silly around young William and Harry. And he’s been invoking her spirit in the way he interacts with the kids.”

Prince Louis and Mum Catherine, Princess of Wales, reportedly missed the birthday outing. Louis, 6, was probably considered a bit too young to be out so late.

And since Kate has been battling cancer, she’s largely stayed out of the public eye. While the Princess delighted the nation by showing up at Trooping the Colour looking as radiant as ever, even she acknowledged that she “wasn’t out of the woods yet.”

‘DAD OF THE YEAR’

That has seen William step up to the plate, giving their children a much-needed distraction from mum’s illness. “Wills is in full memory-making mode and is pulling out all the stops to make sure George, Charlotte and Louis have a summer of fun,” the source says.

“As glorious as it was to have Kate with them at the King’s birthday parade, there’s still some way to go before she’s back to full health. And the children need all the distractions they can get,” the source adds.

“It’s been the darkest winter ever and none of them will ever be the same. So Kate’s urged him to try and recapture some sense of normalcy for George, Charlotte and Louis. Wills is prioritising being a hands-on dad and he’s revelling in every moment.”

Prince William announced earlier in the year he was performing reduced royal duties while Kate was recovering from her cancer treatment, so he could spend more time at home with Kate and the kids.

“Having stepped back from his duties, he’s got the focus and energy to shower on his kids. Whether it be roaring at a football match with George, dad dancing at a Taylor Swift concert or just larking about in the garden or on sand dunes, he’s really loosened up – the kids have reminded him what ‘joy’ is,” says the source.

PRINCE WILLIAM SINGS WITH BON JOVI AND TAYLOR SWIFT

Prince William and Taylor Swift go way back. The two previously connected at a Centrepoint charity event at Kensington Palace in 2013. They even joined Bon Jovi on stage for one of his greatest hits, Livin’ on a Prayer. It’s a move that was considered ‘completely off the cuff’.

Eight years later in 2021, Prince William shared all about the memorable moment on an episode of Apple Fitness+’s Time to Walk series.

“So, around about – it must be nearly 10 years ago now – I can’t believe I’m actually telling this story,” Prince William began. “I went to a charity fundraising gala for Centrepoint, which is a young homeless charity that I am very fond of and have supported for many years. It’s an annual fundraiser, and I turn up, and Jon Bon Jovi and Taylor Swift are at the event, which nearly knocked me off my feet as well.”

“When I sat down to watch Jon Bon Jovi do his performance, I thought, ‘That’s it. My job is done. I’ll get a dinner in a minute, and I might be able to have a chat to some people. And, you know, I’m off-duty a little bit now.’ Little did I think what was going to happen next,” he continued.

“I’m sat next to Taylor Swift. She’s on my left. And after Jon does his first song, there’s a pause and she turns to me. She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye, and says, ‘Come on, William. Let’s go and sing.'”

“To this day, I still do not know what came over me,” William said. “Honestly, even now, I’m cringing at what happened next, and I don’t understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.'”

“But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm and says, ‘Come with me…’ I got up like a puppy and went, ‘Yeah, okay, that seems like a great idea. I’ll follow you.'”

Prince William

The candid moment was one to be remembered. Take a look below at more moments from the house party of the century.

HOUSE PARTY OF THE CENTURY IN PHOTOS

It’s a common occurrence for a house party to end with revellers gathered around a microphone belting out Livin’ on a Prayer, but when the party is at Kensington Palace the celebrations are turned up a notch.

Prince William rubbed shoulders with rock royalty hosting stars like rock legend Bon Jovi and singing sweetheart Taylor Swift along with some 600 guests.

But the Prince got into the karaoke favourite, high-fiving his fellow performers as they brought home the final chorus for the amused crowd.

Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi and Prince William belted out a rendition of Livin’ on a Prayer.

Like many before him, William stumbled over some of the words but sang the chorus enthusiastically.

Prince William joked he could help Swift out with “dance moves” or some “back-up vocals” when they met earlier, but didn’t seem prepared for their impromptu performance.

Prince William is believed to have sung the same song at his cousin Zara Phillip’s wedding reception.

The rock legend said he still thought of William as “a young kid” saying he had met his father and grandfather too.

Taylor Swift described Prince William as “very funny” and said she was “very happy”.

Prince William also met Bon Jovi’s wife Dorothea Hurley and their children Jacob, Stephanie and Romeo.

Taylor Swift said it was the first time she had visited Kensington Palace, “or any other palace for that matter”.

Bon Jovi was later presented with an award for his commitment to Centrepoint.

Prince Harry reveals honest take on the grief of losing his mum – and it feels deeply relatable https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/prince-harry-grief/ Fri, 28 Jun 2024 01:18:46 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=517786 "It will eat away at you inside."

Like him or loathe him, Prince Harry’s grief after losing his mum Princess Diana is something, sadly, many can relate to.

In a candid conversation at a charity outreach event, Harry opened up about the familiar emotions and thoughts that come with such a tremendous loss.

“You convince yourself that the person that you’ve lost wants you or needs you to be sad for as long as possible to prove to them that they’re missed,” he said.

“But then there’s this realisation of, no, they must want me to be happy.”

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE

The Duke of Sussex, who will be honoured at the 2024 ESPY Awards for his work as the founder of the Invictus Games, went on to share that processing grief as a child is hard.

They don’t see that talking about the loss of their parent is a celebration of their life. Instead, it’s “I don’t want to talk about. It’s going to make me sad,” Harry explains.

“But once realising that if I do talk about it, I’m celebrating their life. Then actually things become easier. As opposed to this, ‘No, I’m just not going to talk about it’ and that’s the best form of coping, when in fact it’s not,” he said.

“It can be for a period of time. [But] if you suppress this for too long… you can’t suppress it forever. It’s not sustainable. And it will eat away at you inside.

“Equally, nobody wants to be in a position where they’re forced to talk about the very thing they don’t want to talk about, especially when every defense mechanism in your mind, your nervous system and everything else is saying do not go there.”

HARRY SPEAKS FROM EXPERIENCE

Grief is tough, especially when the person that loved you so much is gone. (Image: Getty)

The 39-year-old prince speaks from experience. Harry previously admitted to spending nearly two decades “not thinking” about his mum’s passing. He was only 12 years old when she died.

Suppressing his emotions, he says, led to his “complete breakdown” and feelings of “total chaos” in his 20s.

Fortunately, however, it paved the way for him to finally process his grief. But as many know, it’s on ongoing journey.

Grief comes in waves. Sometimes it’s gentle. And other times, you feel as though you’re drowning.

Harry is the global ambassador for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a British charity supporting children whose parents have died while serving in the armed forces. On Thursday, the charity posted a video titled “From Grief to Growth” on its YouTube channel.

Filmed in May, the video shows Harry’s conversation with the charity’s founder Nikki Scott. This chat came after Harry spent the day playing games with the 50 children involved in the charity.

Prince Harry first got involved with Scotty’s Little Soldiers in 2017. He and wife Meghan Markle donated money raised in association with their wedding to support its ongoing operations.

Princess Diana’s Althorp House won’t go to her sons Princes William and Harry https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/princess-diana-althorp-house/ Tue, 25 Jun 2024 03:13:41 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=517324 Louis Spencer will inherit Princess Diana's childhood home.

The post Princess Diana’s Althorp House won’t go to her sons Princes William and Harry appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
In a twist shaped by tradition, Prince William and Prince Harry will not be inheriting their mum’s iconic family estate Althorp House. Thanks to the rules of primogeniture, Princess Diana’s 13,500-acre Northamptonshire estate will instead go to Louis Spencer, Viscount Althorp.

WHAT IS PRIMOGENITURE

Primogeniture is the centuries-old practice of passing down estates to the firstborn male heir. To this day, it remains a cornerstone of British aristocratic inheritance.

ALTHORP HOUSE HAS SENTIMENTAL VALUE

Princess Diana was such a joyful mum with her boys. (Image: Getty)

Althorp House holds significant sentimental value for both Prince William and Prince Harry. The sprawling estate is more than their late mother’s childhood home – it’s also her final resting place. Her gravesite is on an island in the middle of a lake on the property called Round Oval.

Boasting a main house with 90 rooms spread across 100,000 square feet, the property also includes a portrait gallery, lake and nearly 30 subsidiary listed structures. They span “farming, forestry and field sports businesses.”

Althorp House has been in the Spencer family since 1508. And Diana’s brother Earl Charles Spencer, who just announced he was divorcing his third wife, has been maintaining it since the early 1990s.

WHO IS LOUIS SPENCER?

Louis Spencer will get late Princess Diana's Althorp House

Louis, the poster boy for primogeniture, remains largely out of the spotlight. A source revealed to The Telegraph that, “he’s super private and gets on quietly with his thing.

“He’s a very talented actor, and I think, a brilliant one. You’d like him. He’s very low-key and genuine, decent and kind and tall.”

His sister Kitty Spencer opened up about Louis’ inheritance. She said that all the siblings (he has three older sisters) grew up knowing that he would inherit the property. So, it’s always been a non-issue.

“Primogeniture can be a tricky topic because as times are changing, attitudes are as well. We’ve grown up understanding that it’s Louis to inherit. And Louis will do an incredible job,” she shared.

Charles Spencer did open up about the possibility of the estate going to Kitty, saying he’d be “totally relaxed about Kitty inheriting it. But, he continued, “if I chose Kitty, it would go against all the tradition that goes with Althorp.”

While Louis would like to continue following his passion for acting, Princess Diana’s 30-year-old nephew has been attending trustee meetings for years now. So, theoretically, he should be ready to take over when he needs to.

PRINCE WILLIAM & PRINCE HARRY’S INHERITANCE

Prince William and Prince Harry honour their mum’s legacy, but that’s about the only thing the two do together these days. (Image: Getty)

Princess Diana loved her boys very much. And after her tragic passing in 1997, Princes William and Harry didn’t walk away empty handed – only broken hearted.

The two immediately received most of her £13 million fortune as well as many pieces from her exquisite jewellery collection. And William and Harry have gone to great lengths to preserve their mother’s memory and carry on her legacy in the decades since her death.

From charity work, to travel and, of course, the beautiful tribute in Princess Charlotte and Lilibet’s names, both of Diana’s sons are keeping her memory very much alive despite the pain of their loss.

The princes have also been very involved with the Diana Award since its inception in 1999. However, the two have not attended the event in person together in some time.

Catherine, Princess of Wales made her first public appearance of the year at Trooping the Colour after sharing her shocking cancer diagnosis in March.

Kate, looking like the picture of health, arrived in an upcycled Jenny Packham dress with matching fascinator and pearl earrings.

The Princess of Wales arrived at Buckingham Palace with her husband Prince William and darling children George, 10; Charlotte, 9; and Louis, 6, in tow.

Despite the rainy weather, heart-warming smiles and laughter filled the Glass Coach as the royal family rode down the Mall during the parade.

And the public’s joy at seeing their beloved princess back with the royal family amid her cancer treatment was evident. Thousands of revellers lined the streets, cheering at the official celebrations for King Charles’ birthday.

It was good fortune all around, as even the wind and the rain couldn’t stop the RAF (Royal Air Force) flypast. Thirty aircraft strong, the Red Arrows dazzled the crowds and the Royal Family, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who came out on the balcony to enjoy the final event of the day’s celebrations.

A RETURN TO NORMALCY

King Charles was especially grateful this year. A royal insider tells Woman’s Day that he was “in absolute awe” of brave Kate, who has spent the past six months undergoing treatment away from the spotlight.

“Her appearance was so important to the family and the public – it marked a return to normalcy that people need right now,” the source says.

“Everyone wanted to fuss over Kate, but Charles was protective of her, not wanting her to feel stressed out.”

‘GOOD AND BAD DAYS’ FOR THE PRINCESS

Ahead of the annual military parade held to celebrate the King’s official birthday, Kate shared – much to everyone’s delight – that she would be joining in the festivities.

She also shared a personal health update on Instagram, saying:

“I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.

“I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me. C”

KING CHARLES AND KATE’S CLOSE BOND

This year’s Trooping the Colour, where upwards of 8,000 spectators gathered to join in the celebration, marks the second for Charles as king.

However, he too is facing health challenges. A statement from Buckingham Palace on 6 February 2024 confirmed King Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer.

Despite the hardships, it seems King Charles and Kate are now closer than ever. They’ve always shared a bond, but now the two have a newfound respect and admiration for one another.

The sheer joy of seeing the Princess of Wales with her loved ones last week was shared by everyone around the world, except one.

Sources say the timing couldn’t have been worse for Kate’s sister-in-law Meghan. The Duchess had just released two brand-new products – a jam and dog biscuits – for her American Riviera Orchard brand just hours before Kate’s comeback announcement.

Meghan’s launch was seen as a PR stunt. (Image: Getty)

Friends say the 42-year-old mum-of-two was “furious” to see Kate’s return wipe her new product launch from the news cycle and “steal the spotlight from her”. However, worse was yet to come.

CASHING IN

Not for the first time, the Duchess of Sussex was criticised for trying to “cash in” on another big royal event. She was branded “opportunistic” for her decision to schedule the release at the same time as Kate’s big return to royal duties.

Dog biscuits and jam anyone? Anyone? (Image: Instagram & Getty)

And her PR stunt put close friend and polo player Nacho Figueras, 47, in the crosshairs too. Fans branded the timing of his posts to promote Meghan’s products “tasteless”.

“It’s awkward enough that Meghan is being criticised, but the fact that Nacho has been dragged into the sorry mess will no doubt be causing a few dramas between Meghan and Harry,” spills an insider.

According to sources, Meghan is already struggling with her social standing in Montecito, with Oprah Winfrey avoiding her calls. Gwyneth Paltrow has also made it clear she’s on team Kate by publicly writing a message of support to her.

Frivolous fashions! The most memorable fashion looks from Royal Ascot https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/royals/royal-ascot-fashion-49315/ Fri, 21 Jun 2024 00:36:34 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/royals/british-royal-family/royal-ascot-fashion-49315 It may be an esteemed horse race, but we all know the Royal Ascot truly is a five-day royal fashion festival.

The post Frivolous fashions! The most memorable fashion looks from Royal Ascot appeared first on Now To Love.

Royal Ascot may be the most prestigious English horse race, but it’s also one of the biggest fashion events of Britain’s high-society calendar.

Royals and socialites flock to the Berkshire green for five days of equestrian action and more importantly the fanciest fashions.

Ever since it’s inception in around 1711, Royal Ascot has set the scene for exquisite sartorial style, but it must be noted, one can’t just turn up in any old thing, there’s a strict dress code.

Traditionally, women were to wear dresses of an appropriate length, meaning just above or below the knee, dress straps must be a least 2.5cm thick (no spaghetti straps!), hats are serious business, no fascinators, however a headpiece which has a solid base of 10cm or more in diameter is acceptable.

Meanwhile, for the gents, socks are a must, as are black shoes, a waistcoat must be paired with a tie (no cravats) and a black or grey top hat is to be worn.

In recent years, the rules were bent slightly allowing women to wear trousers – though they must be full length and of a matching colour.

Now you’re clued up on the fashion dos and don’ts, we decided to take a look back at some of the most memorable fashion moments in the history of the Royal Ascot horse races.

Kate Middleton is no stranger to wearing Princess Diana’s jewellery and crowns, and she especially loves taking inspiration from her iconic fashion sense.

In Omid Scobie’s latest book, Endgame, he suggests that both Catherine, Princess of Wales and Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex were encouraged to dress like Diana so her ‘shine could rub off on them’ and the evidence speaks for itself.

Omid added, “During the past thirteen years, Diana cosplay has become a royal staple.”

From gowns to airport outfits to royal visits, Diana’s done it all and Kate’s done it again.

The two both look absolutely stunning in all the outfits with Diana opting for a more masculine take on her choices as opposed to Kate’s ultra-feminine silhouettes.

These photos showcase all the times Catherine has recreated her late mother-in-law’s iconic fashion moments:

A very similar outing in a very similar outfit.

Kate wore a similar get-up at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on the Sandringham estate in 2019.

Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh are one of the most rock-solid royal couples.

The pair celebrated 25 years of marriage on 19 June 2024 – but how did their love story begin? We answer all your burning questions here.

How old was Prince Edward when he met Sophie?

Prince Edward was 27 years old when he met his now-wife Sophie in 1987.

Sophie Rhys-Jones was 26 years old at the time.

How did Prince Edward and Sophie meet?

Romance didn’t immediately blossom for Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones when they first met at Capitol Radio in 1987.

In fact, Edward was actually dating Sophie’s friend at the time.

However, they reunited again at a charity event in 1993, and the rest is history.

At the time, Sophie was working as a public relations executive. She co-owned a public relations firm, RJH Public Relations, with her business partner.

After they began dating, rumours swirled that things were becoming serious for the couple as Prince Edward brought Sophie as his guest to royal events and weddings.

The pair were in no rush to settle down and tie the knot, and they dated for many years before announcing their engagement in January 1999.

Where and when did Sophie and Edward get married?

Prince Edward and Sophie were married on 19 June 1999 in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The ceremony was a relatively small affair and was less formal than most other royal weddings.

There was an intimate guest list and no military involvement at the service.

How many children do Prince Edward and Sophie have?

Edward and Sophie have two children together: one daughter and one son.

Lady Louise was born on 8 November 2003 and James, Earl of Wessex was born on 17 December 2007.

Sophie has previously spoken about wanting her children to live as normal lives as possible and thus chose not to give Louise and James royal titles, but rather noble titles instead.

In an interview with The Sunday Times in 2020, the Duchess Sophie said: “We try to bring them up with the understanding they are very likely to have to work for a living. Hence we made the decision not to use HRH titles. They have them and can decide to use them from 18, but I think it’s highly unlikely.”

Is Sophie a working royal?

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh is a working royal within the British royal family, and has stepped up even more in terms of attending engagements lately.

While King Charles is treated for cancer and Catherine, Princess of Wales recovers from abdominal surgery, Sophie is one of many royal women who has taken on more royal duties.

Catherine, Princess of Wales has continuously proven she’s the queen of fashion – especially when it comes to outfit repeating.

The princess has many key pieces in her wardrobe that she’s worn time and time again, and she has demonstrated that rewearing and upcycling items that are already in your closet is often the way to go.

As a literal princess, Kate Middleton, 42, attends countless public engagements every year, where she always looks the epitome of classy and stylish.

But because she appears at so many events, Catherine constantly needs outfits that are suited to the type of engagement she attends. But she doesn’t always buy new pieces.

The 42-year-old has favoured designers whose pieces she reaches for regularly and has worn numerous times, and she has also often upcycled items to give them a new life years later.

From suits to blazers to dresses and evening gowns, these are all the times Catherine, Princess of Wales has reworn pieces from her enviable wardrobe.
