While we adore the British royals and love knowing what they get up to, we couldn’t forget the Danish royals and our own Australian Princess Mary!

Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark turns 50 on the 26th May and in honour of his landmark birthday, he and his adorable family unveiled a brand new collection of portraits at a special reception at Frederiksborg Castle in Hilleroed.

Not only was the Crown Prince joined by his wife, Crown Princess Mary and their four children Prince Christian, 12, Princess Josephine, 10, and twins Princess Isabella and Prince Vincent, seven, but his mother, Queen Margrethe, was also there for the big reveal.

Talk about a picture perfect family!

Prince Frederik’s new portrait will form the center of an exhibition with portraits by Australian visual artist Ralph Heimans entitled ‘Ralph Heimans Portraits’ and according to The Daily Mail, it includes “a portrait of Crown Princess Mary, members of the British Royal House and international personalities.”

The official portrait of Prince Frederik for the big 5-0.

One notable absence was Prince Henrik, Prince Frederik’s father, who died in February at age 83 following an ongoing battle with dementia. A Danish royal source previously told Woman’s Day, that Princess Mary’s resilience really helped the family during their grief.

“She’s a tower of strength for Fred, who’s just lost his dad. Mary remembers how painful it was when her mother died, so she’s made it her mission to be there to comfort everyone.”
