Farmer Wants A Wife host Samantha Armytage has undergone surgery for hip replacement following a “severe” osteoarthritis diagnosis.

The television personality took to Instagram on July 2 to share a collection of images from her recovery journey.

“Hip, hip hooray 🎉New hip, new me, no worries💃🏼” she began.

“A few weeks ago, I had a total hip replacement. After a very active, outdoorsy childhood (& a skiing accident 30 years ago) I’d torn all the cartilage out of my right hip. It was bone-on-bone & then became full of severe osteoarthritis 😫.”

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease where the tissues in the joint break down over time.

Samantha, 47, assured fans that she is on the road to recovery now that she is “now truly bionic.”

“I’m so proud of how strong my body is & how well I’ve healed,” she wrote. “& my nearest & dearest are pleased to not have to watch me limp around in pain anymore.”

She continued to thank the nurses at St Vincent’s Private Hospital located in Sydney, medication, rehab and her “beautiful friends for [the] flower-filled room.”

SENDING LOVE

Sam’s friends were quick to send their love in the comment section.

“I think this deserves a new pair of Jimmy Choos …just to kick up those old heels and new hip ! ❤ Glad to hear it’s gone well x,” The Morning Show host Kylie Gillies wrote.

To which Sam replied: “definitely 💯 I’ll meet you on the dance floor at the Logies! 😜xx”

Getaway legacy host Catriona Rowntree believes the intense surgery may be somewhere in her future and she thanked Sam for sharing the contacts.

“Dear Lord, I think this is my future, thankyou for sharing the contacts and please be gentle on yourself from here on in,” she wrote.

“You’ll be dancing in no time 🥂💃🏽🪩 Sending you love xxx,” singer Ricki Lee also commented.

DECIDING TO GO UNDER THE KNIFE

While Samantha has been in high spirits, staying positive despite her major surgery, she struggled for a long time before she made the decision to go under the knife.

“She’s been in excruciating pain for many years. It came to a point where it was just too hard to go on in the same way,” a source close to Sam, 47, tells Woman’s Day.

“The time was right to as far as work goes, with filming for Farmer 2024 wrapped and Sam’s contract negotiations for Seven’s next season due to happen later in the year.

“Filming Farmer was difficult for Sam these past few seasons,” the source adds. “She couldn’t be nearly as mobile as she would have liked. This will make walking through paddocks for days on end much easier!”

Adds the source of Sam’s determination to get back on her feet, “She plans to be up and about again in no time – it’s her goal to be back on the dancefloor at the Logies for sure!”

The post Kylie Minogue confirms her Australian tour! Here’s everything you need to know appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Rumours of an Australian tour have been circulating since Kylie Minogue was announced as the headline act for the (cancelled) Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay.

Now Kylie has not only addressed the rumour, she’s confirmed that an Australian tour is a go! Albeit, somewhat accidentally.

“I’m on cloud nine,” Kylie told the audience in Hyde Park. (Image: Getty)

On The Fox’s Melbourne breakfast show on Monday, the Aussie pop star was asked about touring in Australia. Host Brendan Fevola asked, “Are you gonna tour in Australia?”

Hesitating for a moment, Kylie responded, “I wanna say yes. Yes, the answer is yes! We’re just locking down details.

“Maybe I wasn’t meant to say that, but yes,” she added.

While she revealed that it is in the works, the singer did not reveal any further details about the upcoming tour.

THE YEAR OF KYLIE MINOGUE

The interview came off the back of Kylie’s knock-out headline performance at the British Summer Time festival in London’s Hyde Park.

Dubbed, “a glorious celebration of pop perfection”, Kylie delivered a mesmerising performance in a red vinyl jumpsuit to a hyped-up crowd.

Things have been going so well for Kylie lately. Earlier this year, she was named one of TIME magazine’s most influential people. And she took home a global icon award at the BRITs.

The Can’t Get You Out Of My Head singer hasn’t toured her home country since her 2019 Golden tour. But she has released two studio albums and completed a Las Vegas residency.

Kylie was honoured with her first Grammy in 20 years for ‘Best Pop Dance Recording’ award for her hit song Padam Padam. (Image: Getty)

In particular, Kylie’s recent release of her album Tension has been met with great acclaim. The album’s hit single Padam Padam earned the Australian icon her first Grammy in 20 years for ‘Best Pop Dance Recording’.

And seemingly, the star who never sleeps, Kylie also reportedly signed a huge deal with streaming giant Netflix to release a documentary about her long-standing career.

The 56-year-old will allegedly film the documentary in late 2024, and it will be an exclusive fly-on-the-wall account of her incredible life story.

There’s so much Kylie to look forward to! Head to Ticketek now and sign up for the Kylie Minogue Australian tour waitlist. Doing so will ensure you won’t miss out on securing your coveted ticket!

ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s worst nightmare has come true https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/abba-stalker/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 06:48:17 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=1252589 The Abba star’s stalker returns.

The post ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s worst nightmare has come true appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
It’s not over. Not for my part at least,” Gert van der Graaf, ABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog’s boyfriend-turned-stalker declared in 2023 documentary Take A Chance

And in what’s bound to be chilling news for the 74-year-old star, the Dutch warehouse worker has been spotted back in Sweden after he was convicted of harassing her, served with a restraining order in 2000 and again in 2003 and deported back to his native Holland.

“Agnetha must be scared,” commented one fan.

Gert’s obsession with ABBA began when he was eight. (Image: Supplied)

COMING HOME?

According to reports, 58-year-old Gert was recently seen holidaying in the Swedish city of Nykoping and is considering relocating permanently to the country when he retires. “It feels like I’ve come home. I want her [Agnetha] to live her life and feel free. I want to move on with my life too.”

But just last year, Gert revealed of Agnetha, “I miss her. It keeps spinning around in my head. It comes back, again and again. It might be something I can never give up, not until my last breath.

“She said she was glad that I never stopped looking for her. Then I never stop.”

But Agnetha clearly wants him to. She wrote Gert a stern letter in 1999 asking him to no longer contact her and when he didn’t take it well, she became concerned for her safety.

“We’re sitting here holding hands and in love. You can tell,” Gert says. (Image: Supplied)

And she had reason to be worried. On Christmas Eve, 1999, Gert showed up at the singer’s house. “I entered her property with all the security equipment. I know it wasn’t right. But I really wanted to see her. Then the police arrested me saying she feared for her life. I would never want to hurt her,” he says.

But the singer claimed in a statement to the court during Gert’s 2000 trial that her life became “considerably restricted” and she didn’t “dare go outside without being accompanied by a neighbour”.

She also told the trial Gert wrote her over 300 letters from 1997 to 1999, he called one to three times a day and followed her everywhere.

Friends say the ordeal is a big reason the star has largely lived as a recluse in recent years.

STAYING SILENT

“She must be terrified,” said one fan. (Image: Getty)

She’s also remained resolutely tight-lipped about the ordeal. “I don’t know if I can talk about that. I don’t think I will,” says the grandmother-of-four.

Gert has been diagnosed with erotomania, a rare psychotic condition which invokes a belief that someone – usually of a superior standing – is in love with you.

Gert claims he met Agnetha after he wrote a letter to her while he was in hospital after an accident and then she came to visit him.

The forklift driver says Agnetha was the first woman he slept with and describes their relationship as a “fairytale”.

While his story was doubted initially, Agnetha has admitted to dating him. “It was a very intense attention from him and after a while I felt I could not resist any more. I wanted to know him,” she said of her decision to start dating Gert in 1997.

They were together for two years before she called it quits in a decision that Gert allegedly still hasn’t accepted. “I got angry,” he now admits. “I love her very much.”

Clint Eastwood’s daughters are firing shots on social media – and he’s caught in the middle https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/clint-eastwood-family-feud/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 05:42:47 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=1252553 Eastwood family feud explodes.

Keeping the peace in a large family is never easy. And veteran actor Clint Eastwood is finding that out the hard way after one of his daughters launched a fierce tirade against the family for the world to see.

Clint, who has eight grown children, has been left caught in the middle after his daughter Kathryn, 36, took to social media to attack younger sister Morgan, then former stepmother, Dina.

Clint threatened to cut the girls off if they didn’t make peace. (Image: Getty)

‘EVIL STEPSISTER’

The bitter feud is believed to have broken out after Morgan’s recent wedding at her dad’s Californian ranch. And it was made public when a fuming Kathryn ranted about her “evil stepsister”.

Kathryn posted a smiling photo of her and Morgan, writing, “I had to break up with my sister Morgan after her wedding because she’s so concerned with her reputation, she called me ‘insane’ online for the world to hear.”

Strangely, the outbursts came just weeks after Kathryn gushed about her little sister’s pregnancy news. And a source says their famous father, 94, isn’t putting up with any of the fighting at such a pivotal time for the family.

“Clint shut this drama down in one phone call, threatening to cut them all off if they didn’t make peace,” an insider says of the feud.

“His grandchild has yet to be born. And he doesn’t care about the who or the what or the why – his unborn grandkid is the priority for the family right now.”

Kathryn didn’t hold back with her scathing comments, writing on another post about Morgan, 27, that she was a “shallow, superficial woman” with “zero compassion for others”.

GOING AFTER THE FAMILY

Kathryn then came after her six other siblings and former stepmum Dina, sharing an old photo of most of them with their dad Clint alongside the caption, “My siblings are weird and fake, inside and out.”

She made another reference to her family being “fake” when she insisted that they deserved an Oscar for their “performance” at Morgan’s wedding.

The insider says that behind the scenes, Clint has been pushing for a swift resolution to any resentment. “He doesn’t mess around when it comes to family infighting and takes great pains to keep peace among his families,” the source says.

Morgan’s mother Dina, who was married to Clint for 18 years until 2014, also tried to stop the war of words, even threatening legal action against Kathryn if she didn’t take down the hurtful posts.

Kathryn, who is movie star Scott’s younger sister, didn’t back down, sharing Dina’s messages on her Instagram page.

The source adds, “This whole episode has been outrageous for Clint and the rest of the family who were blindsided by it.

“They have a code to never share private messages and this has really crossed the line.”

Andy Lee and Bec Harding’s relationship is proof that love will find you when you least expect it https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/celebrity-news/andy-lee-bec-harding-relationship-68031/ Tue, 16 Jul 2024 05:29:55 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/celeb-news/andy-lee-bec-harding-relationship-68031 Strength to strength since 2014.

The post Andy Lee and Bec Harding’s relationship is proof that love will find you when you least expect it appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
They’ve been together since 2014 and still, Bec Harding and Andy Lee’s relationship continues to go from strength to strength.

The funny guy comedian, who rose to fame for his various up-to-no-good skits with his long-time pal Hamish Blake, began dating model Rebecca Harding when she was just 24.

Back then, he was one of the most well known faces in Australia. She? A waitress working various modelling gigs on the side.

The rest, as they say, is history.

While we’ve watched the pair grow older together, celebrate major milestones and gush about their love for each other, they still find ways to surprise us.

From Bec’s hilarious car crash gaff which saw her hide the evidence from her partner for over a year, right to their adorable new puppy.

And as we all know, it’s real serious when a dog comes into the picture.

In May 2024, Andy finally dropped to one knee and proposed to Bec!

“People keep saying we’ve rushed into this but we don’t care what people say! 💍” Andy jokingly captioned the photo of Bec showing off her shiny new accessory.

When the couple would tie the knot has been a question on fans many lips, especially after sparking engagement rumours in 2022.

Want your own fairytale romance? Sign up to eHarmony today!

“I’m just waiting for Bec to do it!” Andy joked on The Kyle And Jackie O Show in August before admitting he doesn’t think Bec would be the one to propose.

“I’m a bit old school, but I think I’m safe because she’s pretty old school as well,” he shared.

To celebrate their love, we’re looking back at their sweet romance in pictures.

For Valentines Day in 2023, Andy surprised Bec with flowers….or did he? In true funny guy fashion, he addressed the flowers to their dog Henri much to Bec’s amusement!

Bec Harding and Andy Lee met in 2014 while the then 24-year-old was working as a waitress in Richmond café – and yes, it was love at first sight… for Andy at least!

Speaking of the moment in a later interview, Andy said: “I caught her eye and I was attracted to her. Just the way she was treating other people, she had a lovely demeanour.”

Andy said in order to get her attention, he ended up ordering a little more than he could chew. “I was trying to chat to her, so I was ordering a lot. I had like an hour and a half breakfast and you know I don’t really like that because I like getting in and out in food situations.”

In 2022 he shared more details with The Sydney Morning Herald about their first meeting. He said, “We met in a Richmond cafe. I was there writing stuff for the Logies, she was the waitress. She was attractive – but it was more her bubbly personality and how she wasn’t good at her job. She’d leave a table knowing about the person’s grandchildren or dog, but forget their order. I ordered cups of tea I never drank and eventually left a note on a napkin.”

He also admitted to leaving his email on the napkin which didn’t impress Bec. “She gives me flak about giving an email address. I was concerned that if I’d misjudged, I might receive prank phone calls. I didn’t give her “fanmail@hamishandandy.com”; it was my personal email.

“She emailed and I rang her straight away. She was very surprised; she was used to people texting, not calling. She told me she was two weeks away from finishing her master’s degree for the year. I said, “That’s a Tuesday. I’ll call you on the Saturday and tell you where I’m going to take you.” And we went out Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday.”

It was meant to be! The pair began dating seriously soon after, and despite a little hiccup in 2016 where they split for a short period, the pair were soon back on track and proving they were one of the country’s quirkiest couples.

In 2022 Andy revealed they broke up shortly after the Australian Open because of the intense attention Bec faced.

“Being in the public eye, there’s a short period before anyone knows about a new relationship. I cherish that time. But eventually I asked Bec to the Australian Open tennis. I told her the relationship might change afterwards, and she said, “Okay, big shot. Whatever.” But there was a lot of attention and Bec felt immense pressure. One small comment can feel big. It took its toll and we parted ways.

“It was a really sad, tough time – and confronting because I had to accept that what I do for a living created the situation. Bec quickly got her spark back, though. I thought my sadness would pass and I’d get on with my life, but the feeling didn’t go. When I still felt the same after six months, it was clear to me I should see whether she was interested,” he shared.

Andy told The Sydney Morning Herald a sweet story about Bec to explain why her sweet nature captures his heart.

“There’s chemistry – those aspects of a relationship you can’t put into words, the enigma of it – but it’s her care and kindness that drive me towards her the most. Once, she went to the nursery and came back with a plant that was nearly dead. I said, “Did they run out of plants?” She said, “No, but no one was going to buy this one.” She simply cares deeply. And that rubs off on me: I’m a more thoughtful person.

“That’s what relationships are meant to do: not change you completely, that’s always a disaster, but round out your edges. I can get obsessed with work and she brings a sense of calm. She’s way better at planning recreation. She likes holidays because she feels like I’m hers for that period. In Australia, I get people coming up to me all the time. I love it – honestly, they are often so lovely and funny and you get great material – but it can be annoying for Bec,” he said.

The couple are also hilarious together and there was the time that Bec bravely admitted on national radio that she’d crashed Andy’s car… one year later. In 2019, the then 30-year-old told Andy on Nova’s Fitzy & Wippa, “Do you remember last year, when I took your car in for an early service? Well, I actually smashed the front of your car, reversing in.” Oh, and we should probably add that said car was a luxury Audi… oops!

Of course the couple have celebrated major milestones in front of their fans too – in 2015, Bec completed her second degree with a masters in communications. “Proud of @rebeccalharding, getting her 2nd degree last night,” Andy wrote at the time, before cheekily adding: “Two more than @hamishblake has for those counting.”

And then there were milestones of the birthday kind. Bec celebrated her 30th birthday during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown, but Andy still made sure she marked the day with style: “It wasn’t the HUGE 30th bash she’d planned but we celebrated her birthday weekend in style with a 4.30am finish 😎😘,” Andy captioned his Instagram tribute.

And two can play at that game – in 2021, Bec surprised Andy with a 40th birthday to remember… or not to remember? Sharing a balloon-clad hotel room the morning after the big night before, she wrote: “Surprise parties hit differently when you’re 40!”

“When Bec met Henri 🐶❤,” Andy captioned the video. He explained: “We’ve been waiting for this pup for a long, long time. I’ve known it was arriving today for about 4 months. Rapt to have kept the secret and so pleased @rebeccalharding was delighted to meet Henrietta rather than saying ‘what did you get that for? I’m into cats now!'”

Andy Lee surprises his partner Bec with a puppy

Bec also helps Andy write his jokes, and he admitted to the Sydney Morning Herald he leans on her help.

“She is my go-to for testing out jokes. She’ll say, “People will get angry about that”, or “That’s not particularly funny”. I had a joke about O. J.  Simpson and she’s like, “I’m not sure if that’s appropriate.” I only realised how much I lean on her when we spent three months apart last year when I was filming The Hundred in Sydney. It was an eye-opener to realise how much she slips in and helps. I lean on Bec a lot.”

Bec also revealed to SMH her side of their love story and admitted she never considered Andy would be interested in her.

“I wasn’t interested in dating anyone, especially not this guy off the TV, but my friend said he seemed nice and at least I’d have a good story. Andy’s got this energy where you can’t help but feel great around him. But I was a uni student working in a café and he was one of Australia’s most celebrated talents. I felt he wouldn’t be interested in me.

“He called me five minutes after I sent the email, a real keen bean. I was surprised he didn’t text,” she shared.

She reflected on the fun early days of their relationship and how that changed when they went public.

“Our relationship was fun and exciting at the start, but then I got insecure and miserable. There were times we had people following us and photographers outside the house and that was daunting. I was starting my career and doubting myself and my ability. Did I get this job because of who I’m dating? I’d make friends and wonder, do they actually like me? I struggled. Andy and I ended up having a break in 2016.

“I spent six months reminding myself: “I’m good, I’m talented.” I kept my job. I kept my friends. I got my spark back and we got back together,” she said.

“When Andy was 15, his mum was unwell. They thought she had two weeks to live and she was in hospital for a long time. She made it through, and I think that experience helped make him a kind, generous, life-living person, but you can see that pain sometimes.

“He knows you can lose someone tomorrow. I’ve softened him over the years: he never used to celebrate birthdays, he was never fussed about Christmas. He was like, “Why do we need Christmas wrapping paper when we’ve got birthday wrapping paper?” No,” Bec told SMH.

Bec also commented on the ways Andy has helped her grow. She said, “I feel as though Andy’s my best friend. We complement each other. I watch him love what he does every day. He is inspirational. He may work ridiculous hours, but seeing how much joy it brings has made me realise I should work towards creating a life doing what I want to do. He shows me that if you work hard and you’re a nice person, you can chase those dreams.”

When they attended a friend’s wedding, Andy posted this picture and gushed, “Nagged myself a bridesmaid!”

Bec looked radiant during their Valentine’s Day dinner and Andy revealed the cheeky comment she made.

“I asked her to be my valentine, she said she’d think about it.”

“Sleepy girls while I watch late night tele 📺 I’m surprised they aren’t as into the cricket highlights as I am 🤷🏻‍♂️.”

Couples that get vaxxed together, stay together…

Andy and Bec have brought an 1876 house in Hawthorn with no running water, kitchen, or bathroom, and they’re excited to renovate it together.

“It’s one hell of an undertaking, but renovations are good for relationships, right?” joked Andy to SMH.

“Taking care of three kids can be really difficult… but I manage,” joked Andy while making our hearts soar.

“I don’t see the age difference at all, except when she doesn’t understand Back to the Future quotes. My view on relationships is that there isn’t “the one”. I think that’s a scary mindset, because you might lose that person: they leave you, or something terrible happens, like their passing. I think we have many “ones”, but it’s rare to find them. I’ve always felt that if I was too old or annoying for Bec, I’d be devastated, but it wouldn’t be the end of my life. But I do love her to bits.”

The couple lived their best life in London and did some touristy things like watching Ed Sheeran in concert, pub beers, and suffering from jet lag.

They got cosy while enjoying London’s famous busses.

“Her street eat is more attractive than my street eat!!”

Romance was also on the agenda, just take a look at this sunset snap from Greece. They really do look amazing together.

The couple looked all loved up on their europe trip but Andy quickly debunked rumours of an engagement. “I’m just waiting for Bec to do it!” Andy joked to Kyle and Jackie O when they returned. “She might do it – yes! I’m a bit old school, but I think I’m safe because she’s pretty old school as well”

After five years of marriage, the former Home and Away co-stars Sarah Roberts and James Stewart filed for divorce in March 2024.

The pair met on the set of Australian soap, Home and Away in 2017 and quickly became the golden couple as they fell in love. In 2019, they had a fairytale wedding in Luttrellstown Castle, just outside of Dublin, Ireland surrounded by their friends and family.

The final post Sarah shared of James to her Instagram.
(Image: Instagram)

But sadly, Sarah confirmed the pair had grown apart during an interview in April.

“I just want to say that I am divorced,” she told Stellar Magazine.

“Sometimes people grow apart and that’s okay… I got to a point where I realised I couldn’t grow in the way I wanted to within this particular relationship.”

On the Instagram announcement shared by the official account for Stellar, friends of Sarah shared their love.

“Sending you lots of love, dear Sar. Xxx,” Penny McNamee wrote

(Image: Instagram)

Sam Frost commented: “Yes 👏🏻 Girl 👏🏻 I’m very proud of you!!! It’s so beautiful to see you sparkle again ✨ you deserve nothing but the best xxxxxx”

“Such a shame as I loved you guys as a couple, but as long as you are both happy that’s the important thing,” a fan wrote.

“No surprise there, haven’t seen them together in a while. Neither of them wearing their rings either,” another commented.

Unfortunately, fans weren’t completely surprised by the divorce announcement after rumours began to circulate in October 2022 after James was absent from the premiere of Sarah’s film, Wog Boys Forever.

The final time James appeared on Sarah’s Instagram was in February 2023, meanwhile James’ last post about Sarah was in July 2022.

A few months after the announcement, Sarah shared a snippet into her life post-divorce and thanked her friends who “brought [her] back to life.”

“These two. Brought me back to life. Literally,” she began on Instagram.

“Put a roof over my head, filled me with wine, cookies, memories, (the best) carbonara (I’ve ever had!), giggles, deep conversations, self-confidence, a new found zest for life. A safe haven on this twisty-turny journey.”

In 2015, former 90210 and Charmed actress Shannen Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer with the disease returning in 2020 as Stage IV, metastasizing and spreading to her brain. In July 2024, Shannen sadly lost her battle with cancer.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” Shannen’s publicist, Leslie Sloane confirmed the news to People magazine.

“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace.”

Fans and friends across the globe have shared tributes in their grief, mourning the loss of Shannen around the globe. Below, we take a look back at her health journey.

When Shannen’s cancer returned in 2020, the actress was open about her battle with the ferocious disease and the reality of living with cancer.

Shannon told People magazine that she remained positive after bravely admitting: “I don’t want to die.”

“I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better. I’m just not done.”

Only recently, Shannen let go of some of her possessions to make things “easier” for her family when she passed.

“My priority at the moment is my mum. I know it’s going to be hard on her if I pass away before her. Because it’s going to be so hard on her, I want other things to be a lot easier,” she said.

“I don’t want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with. I don’t want her to have four storage units filled with furniture.”

In early 2024, it was revealed her new cancer infusion wasn’t working. Despite doctors suggesting she switch treatments, Shannen wanted to persist with the treatment.

WATCH: Shannen Doherty opens up about her battle with breast cancer. Article continues after video.

“After the sixth or seventh treatment, we really saw it breaking down the blood-brain barrier. Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, ‘let’s keep going’,” she shared on her podcast Let’s Be Clear.

Desperate for advancements in treatment options, Shannen hoped “to squeeze out another three to five years” to experience new options to help fight her cancer.

“There’s going to be a lot more options that will give another five years,” she said on her podcast.

Shannen began radiation therapy in January 2023 and posted a video of the process to her Instagram page.

“January 12, the first round of radiation took place,” she wrote on Instagram. “My fear is obvious. I am extremely claustrophobic and there was a lot going on in my life. I am fortunate as I have great doctors like Dr Amin Mirahdi and the amazing techs at Cedar Sinai [Medical Centre].”

“But that fear… The turmoil… the timing of it all… This is what cancer can look like.”

In a follow-up post, shared four days later, she opened up about the terrifying surgery.

“I had a tumor in my head they wanted to remove and also biopsy,” she penned. “I am clearly trying to be brave but I am petrified. The fear was overwhelming to me. Scared of all possible bad outcomes, worried about leaving my mom and how that would impact her. Worried that I would come out of surgery not me anymore. This is what cancer can look like.”

Sarah Michelle Gellar responded to the video, telling Shannen: “You are a warrior.”

Selma Blair – who’s fighting her own battle with multiple sclerosis – commented: “This is a lot. This is a lot to take on, still again. And I am wishing for all the wise peace you have learned to find you in the terror moments. To know we are holding you. Love. All love.”

In October 2021, more than a year after her cancer returned, Shannen encouraged people to get regular check ups and “cut through the fear.”

“For breast cancer awareness month, I’d like to share more of my own personal journey from my first diagnosis to my second,” she wrote on Instagram. “Is it all pretty? NO but it’s truthful and my hope in sharing is that we all become more educated, more familiar with what cancer looks like.

“I hope I encourage people to get mammograms, to get regular checkups, to cut thru the fear and face whatever might be in front of you. In 2015 I got diagnosed with breast cancer. I had a mastectomy and did chemo and radiation. I had many nose bleeds from the chemo. Not sure if any of you experienced this.

“I also was beyond tired. I cheered myself up by putting on funny pajamas that my friend Kristy gave me. Did they actually cheer me up? Yes!! Lol. I looked ridiculous and in that ridiculousness, I was able to laugh at myself. Finding humor helped get me thru what seemed impossible. I hope we all find humor in the impossible.”

Margot Robbie has become a huge name in Hollywood as both an actress and a producer, but now she’ll be taking on a different role entirely.

It has been confirmed that Margot, 34, and her husband Tom Ackerley, 34, are pregnant with their first child together!

Multiple sources spoken with PEOPLE confirming the exciting news after photos emerged of the couple holidaying in Lake Como, with Margot sporting a growing baby bump.

The actress and her husband then confirmed the news themselves when they attended Wimbledon on 12 July. Margot was glowing, and we can already tell her maternity style is going to be incredible.

Margot and Tom have been together since 2013, and tied the knot in 2016. They met on the set of Suite Francaise, a World War II drama film in which Margot starred and Tom was the assistant director.

Despite living a life in the public eye, the couple choose to keep their relationship relatively private, however they have shared some adorable moments together on red carpets, as well as gushed over one another in interviews.

The pair even share a production company together, LuckyChap, which has produced some of the biggest films over the last few years, including Saltburn, I, Tonya, and the blockbuster hit Barbie.

Margot and Tom secretly married in a private ceremony in Margot’s hometown of the Gold Coast in December 2016, with the Aussie actress confirming the news on her now-deactivated Instagram page.

“Being married is actually the most fun ever, life got way more fun somehow. I have a responsibility being someone’s wife, I want to be better,” she told Porter in 2018.

But their relationship wasn’t necessarily smooth sailing from the get-go, with Margot claiming she never thought she’d have a chance with Tom.

“We were friends for so long. I was always in love with him, but I thought, Oh, he would never love me back. Don’t make it weird, Margot. Don’t be stupid and tell him that you like him,” the Barbie star told Vogue in 2016.

“And then it happened, and I was like, ‘Of course we’re together. This makes so much sense, the way nothing has ever made sense before’.”

In 2024, Tom spoke to The Sunday Times revealing how they balance their work and personal lives. He shared that they spend nearly every single day together. “It’s seamless. We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off. It’s all become one thing,” he said.

Despite these rare sweet comments about one another, if the private nature of their relationship is anything to go off, it’s likely the couple will choose to keep their growing family life private too.

Congratulations to the parents-to-be!

The ever-humble Tony Armstrong tells us why he had to work on being proud of what he’s achieved https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/tv-week-gold-logie-2024-tony-armstrong-nominee/ Sun, 14 Jul 2024 23:59:58 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=1252310 Ready for the spotlight... now.

After taking home the Graham Kennedy Award for Best New Talent in 2022, and the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter the following year, could Tony Armstrong go three for three and take out the TV WEEK Gold Logie Award For Most Popular Personality On Australian Television in 2024?

While the trajectory of his accomplishments might certainly suggest so, Tony is still wrapping his head around his first two.

“Three years ago, I didn’t even have a Logie on my radar, and now I’m up for the Gold. I’m like, ‘Whoa.’ It’s kind of surreal,” the 34-year-old tells TV WEEK.

However, while Tony admits “it would be great if it all worked out,” [and he won] on the night, he’s not about to let it change his day-to-day.

“Everyone’s asked, ‘What’s it like being a Gold Logie nominee?’ and I’m like, ‘Well, yesterday I went to the Pitt Street Mall [in Sydney’s CBD] and bought five pairs of jocks and five pairs of socks,” he says with a laugh.

It’s quips likes these that has made Australia fall for Tony. And fast. In a few short years, he’s gone from retired AFL player to in-demand TV personality thanks to his role as sports presenter on ABC News Breakfast, host of documentaries A Dog’s World and Great Australian Stuff, co-host of new sports entertainment show Monday’s Experts – and even humorous satirical cameos on The Weekly With Charlie Pickering.

His face is currently all over the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, where an exhibition he curated – Tony Armstrong’s Extra-Ordinary Things – is on display in the wake of his recent weekly ABC documentary series of the same name.

It seems everybody wants a piece of Tony right now, so can you blame him for wanting to step away to catch his breath for a moment?

“I’m still very much, ‘What is going on?’” he says with a laugh. “TV is a weird beast. I still get wigged out standing next to – and talking to – Andy Lee, or seeing Rob Irwin or Julia Morris [all fellow Gold Logie nominees]. I think, ‘Wow, you’re from the telly!’ Yet that’s what people think of me now. It’s all so strange.”

As dizzying as it’s been, Tony acknowledges that the Gold Logie nomination has given him a great reason to “stop and reflect” and be proud of just how far he’s come.

“I went away and did a lot of work on myself,” he says. “One of the big things I’m trying to do is accept where I’m at – I’m not very good at saying ‘I’m proud.’”

“I’m still very much, ‘What is going on?’” (Credit: Paul Suesse)

Tony says he’s often relied on the feeling of being overwhelmed – especially at events such as the Logies – as a “self-preservation” technique.

“It’s kind of giving myself a little fail-safe, a back door out if things don’t go my way,” he explains. “But I’ve worked hard, taken some little Ls [losses] along the way, and now I do believe I can play a role in the media.

“I’m not a veteran – I’ve only been in TV three years – but for me, being overwhelmed doesn’t cut the mustard anymore.”

Tony says he’s also trying not to put as much pressure on himself now. It’s something that playing professional sport – 35 AFL games for Adelaide, the Sydney Swans and Collingwood between 2010 and 2015 – has helped him with.

“What footy taught me was that you can do everything right and yet it still might not work out. That’s a tough lesson to learn, because a lot of us, when we’re growing up, are told we can do anything – that we’ve just got to work hard and it’ll come. But while you can give yourself the best opportunity, it doesn’t mean you’ll always succeed.

“So now that I’m in TV, I don’t care so much about the outcome, because if I put in the work and hold up my end of the bargain, how can I possibly care about the outcome? All the other stuff is out of my control. That’s really helped.”

Tony, a Barrabinya man originally from NSW, says his journey of self-realisation has also meant he better understands the “extra layer of responsibility” that’s on him as an Indigenous man in the media.

He recalls a moment this year where a young Indigenous boy recognised him at a shopping centre and came up to say hello. The interaction was brief, but left a lasting impression.

“I do take the p*** out of TV, and say that it’s meaningless and all that kind of stuff, but for a little kid like that to see someone who looks like him on TV, that’s awesome,” he says.

It’s shocking to believe Tony’s only been in TV for three years. (Credit: Paul Suesse)

He says the work he’s doing on himself is only preparing him for a long career in TV, hinting there are big plans on the horizon. However, those plans may not all be in front of the camera.

“I’d love everyone to see a hell of a lot less about me,” he laughs. “I’m trying to write some scripted stuff. A dark comedy – Australia is begging to be satirised right now.”

But for now, Tony is looking forward to celebrating his achievements at the Logies on August 18. And with his new girlfriend Rona Glynn-McDonald on his arm, this year’s event could prove to be his favourite yet.

“I’ll still be a d***head on the red carpet, but I won’t be overwhelmed,” he says. “I’ll know what I’m doing. It’ll still be sensory overload, but this time, I’ll see it for what it is.”

“I always thought that what I do in tennis will define me and who I am as a person and how worthy I am,” she tells Go Behind The Mask podcast. “I believed that for a long time.”

Now through therapy the 41-year-old is realising that she’s worth more than just her achievements on court.

“I only really discovered that through the journey of writing.

“That’s why I’ll say it every single day for the rest of my life: Unbreakable changed my life, and it saved my life. It gave me a voice, I was free,” Jelena tells The Guardian.

FINDING A PURPOSE

She retired in 2014 but felt lost and struggled to find a purpose.

Far from being a celebrity issuing empty platitudes on Instagram, Jelena uses the darkest elements of her story to connect with people who have suffered similar traumas.

It’s helping her find “my calling”.

Because finding a purpose after being a professional athlete is tough, says the Wimbledon commentator. She felt lonely and lost after retiring in 2014, while feeling like she hadn’t reached her full potential.

“I was a woman with nothing to aspire to, no goals and dreams left,” Jelena tells The Guardian.

“And to now be doing this – if you told me that 10 years ago, I would have told you that you are literally crazy… I have a lot of joy in my life now, I’m thriving.”

THE POWER OF SPEAKING

She adds that becoming a motivational speaker and consistently speaking up about her experience “has actually saved my life at times”.

Social media has also allowed her to create a community to share her experiences with people, even if sometimes cruel trolls weigh her down.

Recently she took to Instagram to address her weight loss and the “myth of perfection”, after she was trolled online.

WEIGHT LOSS BATTLE

Her weight was at its heaviest last year.
The tennis star was at her heaviest last year but has worked hard to lose 20kg.

“I had some health issues but also I just wanted to get healthier and fitter and when I turned 40 last year I really started to think about my family history of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems.”

Jelena has lost 20kg and adds that while she’s happy she’s lost the weight for health reasons, it won’t change who she is.

“I still want people to value me and others based on whether we are kind and good people. I will always be proud of myself and not hide or be embarrassed no matter what size I am,” she writes.

“Beauty is not what is on the outside. Beauty is not the number on the scale or having a pretty face. Beauty is having a beautiful mind, a beautiful heart and a beautiful soul. Beauty is being kind, empathetic, hard working and a good person.”

We couldn’t agree more!

Tennis great Novak Djokovic may be most well-known for his prowess on the court, but away from the limelight he’s a loving husband and doting father.

The 37-year-old recently celebrated his 10th wedding anniversary with wife Jelena Djokovic, 38, and his tribute to her was beyond beautiful.

“Ten years of joy, Ten years of dreams, Ten years as islands, Ten years as streams,” he began in a post on Instagram.

“Ten years as parents, Ten years as one, Ten years of dancing, Ten years of fun.

“Ten years of yoga, Ten years we stretch, Ten years of dogs, Ten years go fetch.

“Ten years of flying, Ten years at sea, Ten years of you, The best part of me.

“Ten years of tennis, Ten years of balls, Ten years of triumph, Ten years of falls.

“Ten years as teammates, Ten years together, Ten years Jelena, I love you forever.”

The beautiful poem written by Novak was accompanied by a video compilation of some of the couple’s greatest moments together, alongside the song Islands In the Stream by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

The former world number one has been with his wife Jelena Ristic (now Djokovic) since 2005, and the pair actually met in high school during the 1990s!

Speaking of their romance, Jelena said, “us getting together was like science fiction almost. I was a student barely getting by, and he was a very young tennis player who also had no money to spare on expensive trips.”

It wasn’t always smooth sailing for the couple either, as the beginning of their romance was long-distance, due to Jelena studying abroad. Following the completion of her degree, she then got a high-intensity job that put a strain on their relationship.

She was spending so much time at the office that she barely saw Novak, who at the time was working his way up in the tennis world.

“At a certain point, Novak told me, ‘Darling, we cannot go on like this,'” she told PEOPLE.

Jelena eventually left the job and became the National Director of the Novak Djokovic Foundation (NDF), which she co-founded with his family in 2007.

The couple were engaged in September 2013 after eight years of dating, and tied the knot on 10 July 2014 in a beautiful ceremony on Sveti Stefan in Montenegro. At the time of their wedding, Jelena was pregnant with their first child.

“Seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress, smiling and walking towards me… She looked like an angel,” Novak said. “I was trying to be present in that moment and memorise it. I was focused on her, and her smile, and our baby. It really was a perfect moment.”

Jelena felt similarly, saying of their wedding, “I was very nervous and everything seemed a blur. I was seeing him through tears and immediately started crying when I saw him. I was just so happy and probably being pregnant makes it quite difficult to control the emotions. I am so blessed to have him in my life. I couldn’t ask for a better partner than him.”

Novak and Jelena have since welcomed two children together, one son and one daughter.

Their son Stefan was born in October 2014, and they welcomed their daughter Tara in September 2017.

Jelena has been Novak’s biggest supporter over the course of his tennis career, and she has seen him achieve so much success in the sport.

“Whether I’m winning or losing, she’s always there. Family’s always there. When I go back home, I’m not a tennis player anymore. I’m a father and a husband,” Novak said years ago.

“That’s a kind of balance that I think allows me to play this well. Ever since I got married and became a father, I haven’t lost many matches, I won many tournaments. I suggest that to every player, ‘Get married, have kids, let’s enjoy this.'”

Jelena can almost always be seen in Novak’s player box, cheering him on courtside, and nowadays she is the global CEO of NDF as well as the director of online blog Original Magazine.

Cody Simpson calls time on professional swimming career with plans to return to music https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/cody-simpson-retires-swimming/ Fri, 12 Jul 2024 00:24:15 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=516557 “Thank you swimming”.

]]>
Aussie musician Cody Simpson surprised the world in 2019 when he first announced that he would be shifting his focus onto competitive swimming.

The 27-year-old has given his all over the past four years, and after a devastatingly unsuccessful campaign at the Olympic qualifying trials, it appears Cody has now called time on his swimming career.

Cody posted this photo on his Instagram page. (Image: Instagram)

Taking to Instagram on 17 June, just two days after the 2024 Australian Olympic swim team was announced, Cody uploaded a photo of his national swimming pendant alongside a touching personal message.

“All you can do is everything you can to take what you’ve been given as far as you can take it. You owe yourself the honour of cultivating your talents with as much fervour and intensity as you can. The privilege of becoming what you’re capable of becoming.

“I left nothing to the unknown these past 4 years and I can now rest knowing I put my pedal to the floor every day and covered every other little detail to take this as far it could go and it sure went a hell of a ways. I made sure I was a gangster in my training, meticulous in my preparation and fearless in my competing every step of the way.

“I’m grateful for a huge run in the short amount of time I have been a professional athlete and I wouldn’t trade a moment. I promise I will never stop trying to do special things with my life. Shoot for the moon.. land among the stars. My shot has landed me in a constellation of stars otherwise known as that elusive club, the Australian Swim Team, forever. Thank you swimming.”

He signed off the message with “Australian Dolphin #838”.

The 27-year-old also uploaded a follow-up post almost a month later, confirming the news of his retirement.

“Hell of a ride. I had a personal theory and wanted to see if, with sheer grit and determination, it would prove. It did. So that’s me for now,” he wrote.

“Thank you Australia for supporting me every step. To my coaches and support staff. To my family and loved ones. […] And finally, to the sport of swimming for saving my life, and making me who I am.”

Friends, fans, fellow swimmers and other celebrities took to the comment section to congratulate Cody on his hard work and determination over the past few years.

“Your commitment to the dream was awe inspiring, thank you for taking us all along on the journey 🌟💯,” former Olympic swimmer Giaan Rooney shared.

Meanwhile, Channel Nine presenters Karl Stefanovic and Richard Wilkins also left messages of support, with Karl saying, “Very proud of you Cody. You absolutely committed. Extraordinary strength of character. ❤”.

Richard simply wrote, “#champion ❤”.

Cody’s girlfriend Emma McKeon commented, “Absolutely incredible, you left no stone unturned ❤ I love you”, while Olympic swimming legend Libby Trickett wrote, “

“Huge. What an incredible adventure. On to the next one 👏.”

Though Cody was an extremely talented junior swimmer, when his music career took off at the age of just 13, his swimming aspirations took a backseat.

It was only in 2019 that the singer decided to turn his focus back onto competitive swimming, with the goal of making the Olympic Games.

The 27-year-old has seen some success in the sport, namely attending the 2022 Commonwealth Games where he received a medal as a heat swimmer in the 4×100 metre freestyle relay team.

Not only that, but Cody also has swimming to thank for his long-time partner, fellow swimmer Emma McKeon.

Now that he has hung up his goggles, Cody has alluded to returning his focus onto his music.

“The discipline and resilience and perseverance that swimming has again instilled in me is something that I’m really excited to implement in my future endeavours because it has just helped me grow so much.

“And how I can take that back into music and entertainment and see what I can do — there’s some exciting projects lined up for after this that I was going to go back and do regardless of how this week went,” he shared following the swimming trials.

The Jurassic Park franchise has become iconic in the world of film, and it seems viewers can’t get enough of the fictional world in which dinosaurs almost escape and roam free.

So much so that a seventh movie is being created! Jurassic World 4 is officially in the works – here’s everything to know.

Jurassic Park was a box office hit. (Image: Getty)

Thanks to the multiple A-list actors and the legendary lines, Jurassic Park quickly became a worldwide hit. Following on from the original movie’s success, two more Jurassic Park films were made, as well as three Jurassic World flicks.

Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Chris Pratt, and Bryce Dallas Howard are just a few of the names who have appeared in the franchise – so far.

Now, the story is being continued with another star-studded cast set to hit our screens in July 2025 in Jurassic World 4.

Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali have all been confirmed to be joining the latest instalment in the beloved franchise.

Original cast-member Jeff Goldblum – aka Dr. Ian Malcolm – officially welcomed Scarlett Johansson, 39, to the Jurassic Park family in a touching message in July.

“Dr Johansson, this is Jeff Goldblum,” he began in a video message shown to Johansson during her interview on Today.

“Here’s what I want to say to you. This I know: Scarlett will find a way,” he said, in reference to one of Jurassic Park’s most iconic lines.

“Don’t get eaten, unless you want to. I love you.”

Johansson, who’ll be portraying the lead character in the currently untitled fourth Jurassic World film, was beyond excited after watching the video message.

“Oh my God, I can t believe Jeff said that to me. I think my life is complete now. I can retire,” she said.

The 39-year-old also described the script for the upcoming movie as “so incredible”.

“I am an enormous Jurassic Park fan. It is one of the first movies I remember seeing in theatres,” she told ComicBook.com.

“I remember it so vividly. It was life-changing and mind blowing. I cannot express how excited I am.”

Details remain limited as to what viewers can expect to see in Jurassic World 4, but it’s been confirmed that development is well under way.

It has been reported that the upcoming film will be an entirely new story that’s separate from the previous Jurassic World trilogy.

We’ll be updating this article as new information becomes available, so check back here for more details.

Inside MasterChef judge Andy Allen’s beautiful relationship with wife Alex https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/andy-allen-wife/ Thu, 11 Jul 2024 00:02:35 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=510373 “I know we’ll be together forever…”

The post Inside MasterChef judge Andy Allen’s beautiful relationship with wife Alex appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
When Andy Allen took the title of MasterChef Australia in 2012, the moment changed his life forever.

Not only did his career and professional life kick off, but the win also forged a path for the now-MasterChef judge to meet his future wife.

Alex Davey didn’t watch the show and had no idea who Andy was when they first met.

“When we met, she had no idea who I was,” Andy told TV WEEK in an exclusive interview. “We were both at a party just after I won and a few people were talking about it. She kept saying, ‘You won MasterChef?’ She thought it was a joke.”

While they didn’t start dating immediately after meeting, the former electrician from Newcastle said he never forgot about Alex. When their paths crossed again years later, the pair entered a relationship together.

Four years later, the couple realised they were ready to spend forever together and Andy popped the question in New Zealand.

Andy spilled details about his proposal to Alex with TV WEEK, sharing that the experience didn’t quite go to plan.

“I drove down to what I was told was a nice secluded beach,” Andy explained.

“But when we got there, there were more than 300 people on the beach, and the only free spot I could find was next to a couple of 16-year-olds violently pashing. It was the least romantic spot ever!”

Andy spotted a nearby headland and asked Alex to take a walk with him. Once they were finally alone, he got down on one knee.

“She was so shocked, she basically collapsed on my shoulder,” Andy recalled. “I pretty much had to ask her if it was a ‘yes’. She was very shocked.”

The pair got engaged in early 2020. (Image: Getty)

The couple officially tied the knot in October 2022 in a gorgeous ceremony at Terrara House in southern New South Wales.

After they said ‘I do’, Andy and Alex enjoyed a honeymoon in New Zealand, and have since continued to travel the world together.

And while they’ve seemingly enjoyed countless good times together, their relationship hasn’t been without its challenges.

Due to the nature of Andy’s job as a judge on MasterChef, the couple have endured multiple stints of long-distance during their relationship.

“Alex is in Sydney and I’m in Melbourne for filming, so we had to talk about how we would make long distance work,” Andy told TV WEEK in 2020.

“But we were both so excited about the opportunity that we knew we could get through anything together.”

Former MasterChef judge Matt Preston was the one to give Andy advice about juggling work and prioritising his relationship.

“We met up earlier in the year and he said I have to make time for my relationship,” Andy said.

“He said it can be hard with filming, and to make sure I set aside days to have a long weekend with Alex and time away from the set.”

The couple have officially moved into a home in Melbourne together. (Image: Getty)

Now, the pair are living together under one roof, having moved to a home in Carlton in Melbourne.

“I always knew Alex and I were going to be together forever and it’s so nice for us to be finally living in the same location, and to actually have a home we can come to that’s just ours,” Andy said to The Australian Women’s Weekly.

“Neither of us thought anything would change after we married, but there’s definitely a deeper sense of being a family and building a life together,” Alex added.

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Nadia Bartel thinks boyfriend Peter Dugmore might be ‘the one’ https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/nadia-bartel-boyfriend/ Wed, 10 Jul 2024 05:19:10 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519300 Things are getting serious between the lovebirds.

The post ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Nadia Bartel thinks boyfriend Peter Dugmore might be ‘the one’ appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Nadia Bartel, 38, first rose to fame as the glamorous wife of AFL player Jimmy Bartel. The couple married in 2014 and share two beautiful boys together. However, despite the picture-perfect family image Nadia painted on social media, the two were struggling. And by 2019, they split.

The Australian model and fashion designer has since moved on with new beau Peter Dugmore, a model with Giant Management and former semi-professional AFL player.

The two were said to have been dating in secret for a couple of years before they officially stepped out as a couple earlier this year at the Australian Open.

Nadia and Peter are getting really serious. (Image: Instagram)

About her partner, Nadia told Herald Sun, “I like to be private in some things, but we’re so happy. He’s a really good person, and we’re enjoying our time together.”

PURE BLISS

Recently, Nadia shared images on social media of her and Peter in Bali at Uluwatu beach, enjoying some fun in the sun in a much-needed getaway.

Poor Nadia tanked her Dancing With The Stars debut and copped some harsh feedback from the judges – “It was out of time. It lacked dynamic […] it didn’t look like a cha-cha.” Clearly, a holiday was well and truly in order!

“Pure bliss here. The beach was so beautiful today,” she captioned images of herself laying out in a black-and-white bikini and ball cap.

Other images included a shirtless, towel-clad Peter in front of the ocean and the pair cuddling up on the couch.

SUCH A GOOD PERSON

By March, it seemed things had gotten really serious with her new beau. At Glamour on the Grid in Melbourne, Nadia told Daily Mail Australia, “I think he’s ‘the one’. I do think he is and I think he’s got so many amazing attributes.

“He’s just such a good person. I think the way he makes me feel…”

The pair have recently taken some time for themselves in Bali. (Image: Instagram)

The Henne co-founder first hinted at her relationship with Peter in July 2023 while the two were travelling through Europe. While the photo posted showed only the profile of his face, fans were already speculating the two were an item.

From there, it was only a couple of days before she posted an image gallery with Peter’s full face on display. He was also tagged in the images.

We look forward to seeing their sweet relationship evolve. Who knows, maybe wedding bells are in the not-so-distant future.

Kyle Shilling smashed Home and Away history as the first Indigenous main actor https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/home-and-away-kyle-shilling-first-indigenous/ Wed, 10 Jul 2024 03:43:38 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519277 Now, he shares his thoughts on the milestone.

Kyle Shilling smashed a major milestone for Channel Seven’s Home and Away when he was signed on to portray Mali Hudson in the chaotic town of Summer Bay.

He was the first Indigenous actor to portray a main character in the soap which has been on air since 1988.

Kyle, 28, joined the H&A cast in early 2023, landing the role of surfer guy Mali who arrived in town as the friend of River Boy, Dean Thompson. Mali quickly became a favourite among fans as he settled into town and even went on to run the local surfboard shop.

The young actor is from the Widjabul clan of the Bandjalung Nation, growing up in Taree and Pottsville in New South Wales.

Speaking on A Bit Rogue podcast with hosts Tori Levett and Skye Sydenham, Kyle reflected on how he felt breaking this H&A milestone.

“It’s important after they’ve had it running for 34, 35 years. Way too long to have an Indigenous person come in as a main role,” he said.

“I guess it’s been huge, I don’t know, I’ve held it very close to me, considering after so many years, and just having that chance to represent my people on a main TV show, not just nationally, but internationally as well.”

Now making a regular appearance on the drama, there is an “Aboriginal consultant” working behind the scenes with script writers.

Initially, Kyle was offered the opportunity to navigate the culture himself, but denied feeling he wouldn’t be able to “comfortably” navigate “the wider population of Indigenous culture.”

“The script writers, producers and directors always make sure that I’m comfortable with telling the story that I’m telling through Marli when it is related through cultural reasoning or events,” he explained.

“They’re doing really well, considering it’s the first time they’ve had to do it and they’ve taken a bull by the horns and they’re just riding around.”

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is getting a sequel, and original cast members are set to return https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/the-devil-wears-prada-sequel/ Wed, 10 Jul 2024 01:49:24 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519245 Gird your loins!

The post ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ is getting a sequel, and original cast members are set to return appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Released in 2006, The Devil Wears Prada not only became one of the most iconic movies of the early 2000s, but it also skyrocketed the careers of Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt.

Now, more than 18 years after it hit screens, it’s been revealed that a sequel is officially in the works! Plus, original cast members are rumoured to be returning…

Miranda Priestly is reportedly returning to our screens. (Image: Disney Plus)

According to Puck News, a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in the early stages of development at Disney.

Whilst there hasn’t been confirmation about who of the original cast will be reprising their roles in the upcoming film, reports allege that Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt will be joining the project.

The news of the sequel comes after a 2022 interview with Anne Hathaway where she told The View that she didn’t think it would be possible.

“I don’t know if there can be [a sequel],” she said. “I just think that movie was in a different era. Now everything’s gone so digital and that movie is centred around the concept of producing a physical thing and it’s just, it’s just very different.”

The original The Devil Wears Prada film was a huge success, both at the box office and on the awards circuit. The movie grossed US$326.7 million worldwide, as well as earned leading actress Meryl Streep, a.k.a Miranda Priestly, a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination.

The film is based on a 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, and follows Andy Sachs, a young woman who moves to New York City to become a writer, but instead finds herself as an assistant to the “tyrannical editor-in-chief of a major fashion magazine”, Runway.

The Devil Wears Prada became a cult classic, and in the years following its release, fans have wondered and speculated about a potential sequel.

The three main actresses, Streep, Hathaway and Blunt, have also kept the film in the public eye, even recently appearing on stage at the 2024 SAG Awards in February, where they performed a short skit in reference to their characters.

Variety allege that the storyline for the sequel will follow “[Miranda] Priestly as she navigates her career amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing and faces off against Blunt’s character, now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with advertising dollars that Priestly desperately needs.”

The script is being written by Aline Brosh McKenna, who was the screenwriter of the original film as well as countless other blockbusters such as 27 Dresses, Laws of Attraction and Morning Glory.

In addition, the film’s original director, David Frankel, and original producer, Wendy Finerman, are also in talks to return for the highly anticipated second instalment.

To refresh your memory, the original cast also featured Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Adrian Grenier, Gisele Bundchen, Tracie Thoms, Rich Sommers and Daniel Sunjata.

So, who will we see return for the highly anticipated sequel? Only time will tell…

The 1996 Olympic gold medallist also regularly posts proud dad moments to his social media accounts. While his son and daughter haven’t followed in Dad’s footsteps on the tennis courts, they each lead successful lives in their own right.

Beau, for one, is a rising star who recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a Master of Arts degree. There, he’s performed in a number of Broadway-esque musicals. And Todd has been his biggest supporter.

A PROUD ‘STAGE DAD’

The proud ‘stage dad’ regularly shares pictures from his performances with his 19,000-plus followers. He’s written: “Pretty special seeing @beau.woody up on stage”.

Todd and Natasha’s daughter Zara, on the other hand, is less focused on the stage and more on the greens – both on the golf course and as a nutrition student.

In 2021, the eldest Woodbridge child was crowned Royal Melbourne Women’s Club Champion. A year later, she became the Cathedral Club Champion. Zara also caddied for Gabi Ruffels, a former tennis star who transformed into a pro golf sensation, at the Australian Open.

Zara is into sports like her dad. However, she leans towards golf instead of tennis. (Image: Instagram)

PASSION FOR THE ‘GREEN’

Running a fitness and health instagram page, where she posts ‘all things nutrition, health and fitness’, Zara shares healthy meals and explains the importance of protein in a healthy diet.

And not to forget the sweet family’s beautiful Aussie groodle Millie, even the pup has an instagram account! She’s a star in her own right. Images of the posh pup include Millie in sunnies, running, looking cute and playing with – you guessed it – a tennis ball!

Just when you think the Woodbridge family couldn’t be any more wholesome, they rock up together on Christmas Eve to cuddle on the couch and support ‘dad’ watching the premier of Tipping Point Australia.

As such, many Australians are curious about both his career and his love life. Allow us to enlighten you with everything to know about Russell Crowe’s girlfriend, Britney Theriot.

Russell, 60, has been linked to his current partner Britney, since 2020, and it’s reported that the now-couple met on the set of Broken City in 2013.

The Daily Mail first reported on Russell and Britney’s relationship in November 2020, however posts on the latter’s social media account suggest she had been living in Australia since January of that year, meaning the pair likely met and started dating even earlier than reported.

So who exactly is Britney Theriot? She is a former actress who is from New Orleans in the United States. It’s alleged that she’s currently around 32 years of age, making her about 28 years younger than Russell.

According to the Gladiator actor, she also used to be a cheerleader for the New Orleans Saints, and also appeared in the film Broken City alongside her now-partner, where they allegedly first met.

After her stint in acting, Britney became a real estate agent and she now performs as a back-up singer for Russell when he performs on stage.

Though they tend to keep their relationship relatively private, Russell and Britney have attended multiple public events together.

Not only that, but Britney has also shared some limited insights into their romance via her social media page.

Most recently, the former actress uploaded a selfie of her and Russell celebrating his milestone 60th birthday.

“Happy 60 years of life to the most legendary legend of all time. ❤,” Britney shared.

The 32-year-old has also adopted some of her partner’s favourite Aussie hobbies, including a love of the native wildlife, and of course support for the South Sydney Rabbitohs NRL team.

As aforementioned, the couple have only attended public events together a handful of times, but many of them have been extremely high-profile. One of these events includes the Australian Open tennis tournament, where Russell and Britney sat courtside in both 2022 2023.

The pair also made their red carpet debut as a couple in October 2022, at the premiere of Russell’s film, Poker Face.

It has also been rumoured that the couple may have taken the next step in their relationship! Photos on Britney’s Instagram page indicate that they may be engaged, as she can be seen wearing a sparkler on her left ring finger.

Since their relationship began, Britney has continued to spend time with Russell’s two sons, Charles and Tennyson.

Russell uploaded a selfie of them together along with some friends to X in July 2022, where everyone is smiling and seems to be enjoying themselves on their vacation to Italy.

“Taking the kids to see the old office”, Russell captioned the photo, as they were in Rome where he famously filmed Gladiator.

He shares his two children with ex-wife Danielle Spencer, an Australian actress and singer.

Things seem to be getting serious for actor Brad Pitt, 60, and his jewellery executive girlfriend Ines de Ramon, 34.

The pair recently appeared at the British Grand Prix in England hand-in-hand amid reports that they recently moved in together.

Brad and Ines have reportedly been in a relationship for almost two years now, and the pair were first linked in November 2022.

At the time, a source told people that they had already “been dating for a few months”.

Prior to her relationship with Brad, Ines was married to The Vampire Diaries actor Paul Wesley from 2019 to 2022.

But who exactly is Ines de Ramon? Below we detail everything to know about Brad Pitt’s girlfriend.

As aforementioned, Ines works as a jewellery executive, having graduated from university with a degree in business administration in 2013.

She currently works as the head of wholesale for Anita Ko Jewellery – a Los Angeles based brand.

The 34-year-old also speaks multiple languages including English, French, German and Italian.

It’s believed that Ines may come from Switzerland, as she attended the University of Geneva for her studies.

Following her three year marriage to Paul Wesley – which ended in September 2022 – Ines and Brad were first spotted backstage at a Bono concert in November 2022.

A source close to the designer told PEOPLE that the now-couple “met through a mutual friend” and that Brad was “really into” her.

The pair went public in December that same year when the actor took Ines to the L.A. premiere of his film Babylon.

In February 2024, it was revealed to PEOPLE that Ines had moved into Brad’s home in Los Angeles.

“It’s pretty recent,” the source said at the time. “They are going very strong and she is happier than ever.”

The couple have continued to attend public events together, and most recently appeared at the British Grand Prix while holding hands in July 2024.

Brad Pitt has had a string of very high profile relationships in the past, namely his marriages to Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie, but sources have alleged that he is as happy as ever in his current relationship.

“Things have been amazing since they moved in together,” an insider shared following the couple’s appearance at the British Grand Prix. “It’s more of a serious relationship than just dating.

“Brad loves so many things about her. She’s great for him.”

The post ‘Little House on the Prairie’ turns 50: Secrets from the set! appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Little House on the Prairie was the ultimate feel-good family show but behind the scenes there was plenty of drama.

From onscreen clashes to secret affairs and even a star with a serious drinking problem, life wasn’t always easy for Ma and Pa Ingalls and their family!

To celebrate 50 years of Little House on the Prairie, we’re catching up with the stars of the show to take a walk down memory lane and find out what really happened on Walnut Grove…

LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE SECRETS!

Little House on the Prairie's Michael Landon and Cindy Clerico fell in love on set.

MICHAEL’S WILD LOVE LIFE

Karen Grassle, who played Ma Ingalls, recalled how Michael Landon used to boast about his libido on set. She soon discovered why – he was having an affair with 18-year-old actress Cindy Clerico, who was 20 years his junior.

The relationship rocked the cast, with most of them good friends with Michael’s wife, Lynn. When Lynn discovered the affair, she followed the pair to their secret love nest and threw a bottle of vodka at Michael’s head.

Michael eventually married Cindy but his nice-guy image was ruined forever.

Little House on the Prairie's Alison and Melissa were best friends.

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES

Life didn’t imitate art for stars Melissa and Alison, who played enemies on the show but were besties off it!

“Here’s Melissa Gilbert and I playing mortal enemies, beating each other senseless all week,” says Alison Arngrim, who played schoolyard bully Nellie Oleson to Melissa’s Laura Ingalls Wilder.

“And then on the weekends, we’d go to each other’s houses for a slumber party.”

The women also bonded over not liking Melissa Sue Anderson.

“You have three teenage girls at the worst of the pre-teen years, and you’re thrown into this thing and you’re in competition, we’re child stars… I’m amazed we didn’t kill each other,” says Alison of their long-running feud.

FEUDING ON SET!

Tensions ran high between Michael and Karen, aka Pa and Ma Ingalls. Karen had a drinking problem, which wasn’t helped by the bar on set. She later admitted to and became sober, with her father sadly dying of alcoholism.

They also clashed over pay and Michael refused Karen’s request for a raise, saying her earnings should be in line with the child actors.

“I felt insulted as his co-star on a hit series… I expected a fair wage,” said Karen, who began to be left out of scenes and storylines.

He also mocked her, especially in their bedroom scenes. “As a woman in the 1970s film industry,

I was so accustomed to these putdowns.”

Katherine MacGregor told people what she thought.

PRAIRIE’S MOST AWKWARD!

Katherine MacGregor, who played Harriet Oleson, let it be known that she had studied acting in New York with famous acting coach Sanford Meisner – and imparted her wisdom to everyone!

“Most actors do not do this, certainly not unrequested,” Alison Arngrim, who played Nellie Oleson, says.

“I’ve never seen anybody do it to this extent, not before or since. She was quite insistent and would tell people they were ‘doing it wrong’.”

Michael liked Clairol nice'n easy.

MICHAEL’S PURPLE MANE!

He was the show’s designated heartthrob, but the late Michael Landon’s silky mane had already gone grey by the time he was in his 20s.

His saviour? Home dye job Clairol Medium Ash Brown.

Everything was smooth sailing until the scorching California sun began to give his bottle-brown mane a purple glow and they had to call in the professionals to fix it!

Ma's homecooked meals were finger-licking good!

MA’S HOME COOKED MEALS!

Food was a huge deal for the Little House On The Prairie stars.

On screen, Ma Ingalls’ dinners came from their own flock but in reality it arrived in a bucket from KFC!

Melissa Gilbert (aka Laura) says it turned her into a chicken fanatic and it’s her favourite dish to cook. “All my friends ask for the recipe!”

PRAIRIE REUNION!

Alison Arngrim, Leslie Landon, Karen Grassle, Wendi Lou Lee, Melissa Sue Anderson and Matthew Labyorteaux reunited at the 63rd Monte Carlo TV Festival last month to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the show!

Some of the cast hadn’t seen each other since the show ended in 1983.

The cast shared which keepsakes they took from the set, with Karen revealing her hairdresser gave her Caroline’s hair!

Matthew, who played the Ingalls’ adopted son Albert, said Michael gave him a chunk of wood from the final episode when the town was blown up.

That’s Amore! Russell Crowe eyes Rome for romantic wedding https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/celebrity-news/russell-crowe-marriage/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 06:15:21 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518995 When in Rome.

The post That’s Amore! Russell Crowe eyes Rome for romantic wedding appeared first on Now To Love.

Russell Crowe loves the country of Italy so much that the actor once said he would “use any excuse” to travel back there.

So it’s no surprise that Russell has chosen it as a potential backdrop for a wedding to American fiancee Britney Theriot.

WEDDING SPECULATION

Russell, 60, and Britney, 32, were seen in full-on tourist mode in Rome last week, riding through the bustling streets on scooters ahead of his band The Gentlemen Barbers’ gigs in the city.

An insider reveals the couple were eyeing up a small church to say “I do” as the country holds special meaning for them both.

“Italy was always going to be their wedding destination. Every time they go there, they come back more in love,” the source reveals of the couple, who began dating in 2020.

“It’s their favourite place to visit in the world – they love the food, the people, the romance, the history. It’s always been their dream to get married there.”

Along with filming various movies there over the years, Russell has come back to Italy time and again for his musical endeavours, as well as holidays there with Charles, 20, and Tennyson, 18, his sons with ex-wife Danielle Spencer.

Rumours he had proposed to Britney also began while they were in Italy in February, when she was seen with a huge diamond sparkler.

ITALIAN ROOTS

And the nuptials will be even more special after Russell’s discovery earlier this year that he has ancestors from Italy, with his great, great, great grandfather on his mother’s side, Luigi Ghezzi, born in the region of Marche in 1829.

The insider explains, “The difference this time for Russell is that he’s discovered why he loves Italy so much. Indeed, last year when Russell performed a free concert at the steps of the Roman Theatre, he told the crowd Rome was “the city where my heart beats faster”.

The Gladiator actor also recalled a moment after a festival in Czechia when he and Britney headed to a nightclub and shared a special moment on the dancefloor – one they’ll likely recreate at their wedding.

“So I took her into my arms and we danced,” Russell told People. “Using the type of moves my old man would, spinning her around and bringing her back.

Her eyes were sparkling with the fun of it all.

“It was like a scene from my childhood. Britney used to be a cheerleader for the [New Orleans] Saints, so she’s got rhythm,” he added.

“As the song ended, I spun her back into me and we kissed. The crowd cheered and the world around us flooded back in. It was just a perfect little moment.”

Post-wedding, they’ll spend more time exploring Italy, before they make their way over to the US. While over there, the pair are sure to catch up with Britney’s friends and family to celebrate.

“They head on a ‘road trip’- style honeymoon when Russell tours the US,” the source says, “They’re likely to keep things secret for now, but expect an announcement soon.”

Dr Chris Brown is on a mission to make Australia more pet-friendly https://www.nowtolove.com.au/lifestyle/pets/dr-chris-brown-pet-census/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 01:40:59 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518920 The 'Bondi Vet' needs your help.

The post Dr Chris Brown is on a mission to make Australia more pet-friendly appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Dr Chris Brown is easily one of Australia’s sweetest television personalities. While he’s gone on to host Dream Home and Dancing With The Stars, it’s clear the Bondi Vet’s heart still lies with his furry friends.

In his latest appeal, Dr Chris is urging Australians to take his Drooly Important Pet Census to keep Australia pet-friendly and drive positive change.

He says: “They’re family! But somehow, we still don’t count pets in our Australian (human) population census.

“So, I’m changing all of that. Yes, it’s time for the 2024 Drooly Important Pet Census. Because their voice matters!

“It’s a chance to get a read on the all important health, happiness…and quirky habits of all the furry, feathered and scaly little characters that call Australia home.

“And it’s all about making Australia more pet friendly. And so, I’ll present the results of the census to all levels of government to ensure our best friends have a voice.”

The census is looking for insights into everything from how much our pets exercise to what we feed them and how often they see their vet. It even wants to know if you kiss your pet on the lips.

Unlike other pet-related questionnaires, Dr Chris’ are run at the state level in Australia. And they’re open to pet owners around the country.

DR CHRIS BROWN SPARKING ‘PAW-SITIVE’ CHANGE FOR ANIMALS

No matter what show Dr Chris is on, the animals find him! (Image: Instagram)

The census began in 2016 after Dr Chris noticed that not a single question was asked about the nation’s pets during that year’s National (human) Population Census. It inspired Australia’s most eligible bachelor to take to social media and launch his own.

Since then, more than 130,000 Australian pet owners have taken part in his survey. However, more involvement means greater possibility for change.

Dr Chris is hoping the results from the survey will not only assist pet parents in best understanding how to care for their fur babies, but it will help make pet care more affordable.

As it stands, he is calling for Medicare to be made available for pets in a bid to make the average cost cheaper for owners getting their pet’s health looked after. Dr Chris says it will allow them to ration their money in the best way possible.

Whether you own a cat, dog, bird, mouse, snake or whatever else, pet owners like you are encouraged to take Dr Chris’ Drooly Important Pet Census online. The fun and informative survey only takes around five minutes to complete. And you can submit your answers from today by clicking here.

Nicole’s 15-year-old daughter Sunday – who is the spitting image of her father Keith Urban, 56 – twinned in chic black dresses, dark sunglasses and long-blonde hair. And Naomi and her youngest child Kai, also 15, also matched in monochrome.

The younger pair’s fashion debut is no doubt just the start of us seeing more of the high school students.

Best friends Nicole and Naomi have previously admitted that their children are keen to join them in the limelight. “It seems they’ve got the bug,” Naomi, 55, said of her children, including 16-year-old Sasha, who she shares with ex Liev Schreiber, 56.

“Sunday wants to be a director. Through nothing I’ve done, though,” says Nicole, 57. “She’s learned to edit, and if I even offer to be in one of her films, the sense is I’m not getting anywhere near them.”

The budding filmmaker also had cameos in Nicole’s TV shows The Undoing – in 2020 – and Big Little Lies in 2019.

Nicole says she’s enjoying this exciting stage with her daughters. “I love teenage girls. I just find them exquisite,” says the A Family Affair star.

Suri’s finally 18 and now mum Katie Holmes is ready to talk https://www.nowtolove.com.au/lifestyle/parenting/celebrity-families/katie-holmes-spills-tom-cruise-secrets/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518759 Who will get the scoop?

The post Suri’s finally 18 and now mum Katie Holmes is ready to talk appeared first on Now To Love.

Tom Cruise looked like he didn’t have a care in the world last week, bopping along to Coldplay while at Glastonbury. However, sources say all that could change now his ex-wife Katie Holmes is free of their custodial agreement – and, apparently, very ready to talk.

US media sources confirm the actress, 45, is once again “fielding multi-million-dollar offers” from major news networks, including Oprah Winfrey’s team, for her first sit-down interview about the most explosive Hollywood divorce in history.

FINALLY READY TO TALK

“Since Suri turned 18, Katie has been inundated with mind-blowing offers to tell her side of the story,” says an insider. “And she has a lot to say.

“Now that Suri is dealing with her dad directly, everything’s changed for Katie. Although, she’s still unnerved by the thought of doing an interview about things that even privately she’s been unable to fully talk about.”

No one can forget when Katie shocked Scientologist Tom, 61 – and the entire world – with her 2012 stealth-bomb divorce. Yet friends say that she knew she wouldn’t be completely free for another 12 years.

With the help of her lawyer dad, Martin Holmes, Katie made a “miraculous exit” from the marriage with full custody of their daughter Suri. But that tied the actress to a custody deal until Suri turned 18, upon which a new arrangement between Tom and Suri would kick in to cover her college fees, security and general well-being.

“Suri’s birthday was a ‘liberation’ milestone for both of them,” the source says. “For the first time in decades she finally feels free, even in little ways, like not having to see his name in her bank account for custody payments.

“It’s like a weight’s been lifted and she’s ready to open up about her story.”

WHO WILL GET THE SCOOP?

Tom Cruise jumps on Oprah's yellow sofa with Oprah looking in disbelief
Katie could open up with talk show queen Oprah. (Image: Oprah show)

According to the insider, Oprah would be the ideal person to conduct the long-awaited interview. “She knows Tom and has the skills to handle any conflicts that might arise,” the source explains. “There are still very strict NDAs in place limiting what Katie can and can’t talk about.

“But there are ways of getting around it. Katie would be a fool to not seriously consider these offers.”

However, friends say Katie’s number-one concern will always be Suri. “She would never do anything without Suri’s approval,” adds the insider. “If doing an interview could upset or hurt Suri in any way, she won’t do it.

“Katie does feel uncomfortable about opening up on what was a traumatic time for both of them. But she knows it can be done in a sensitive way.

“She also knows that Tom will never forgive her for walking out on him and the last thing she wants to do is poke the bear.”

“Let your mighty voice reign over boardrooms and ring out across playing fields. Set it free on the stage. Let it loose in front of cameras. And let it barrel down the corridors of power,” the star – who turns 60 next year – shared in a HuffPost blog in 2017.

And the 10 News First host – who was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia in January for her significant service to the media, charitable organisations and the community – practices what she preaches!

Last year, Sandra revealed she once called out a former colleague after he said a journalist’s breasts were too large for her on-camera role.

Sandra then mentioned the incident at a women in media speaking engagement. “It got back to the office and that [former male colleague] said to me, ‘That was a bit pointed, wasn’t it?’” she said.

“And I went, ‘You shouldn’t have said it, should you? You’ve got to stop this. It’s not how you behave anymore.’”

It isn’t the first workplace clash the newsreader has gone public with. In 2013, Sandra revealed she’d been bullied by a female colleague for a decade.

“She wasn’t a presenter. But she was a colleague who tormented me or tried to torment me,” said Sandra, who claimed the unnamed woman tried to derail her TV career.

“It then escalated to a level where I was very distressed. She used those old tricks

of flirting with bosses and using her feminine wiles to present me as demanding ‘talent’ to her superiors and they all fell for it.”

Sandra admitted one of her biggest regrets was not calling the torment out earlier, as she thought “nobody would believe” her.

Perhaps it’s a big reason the star isn’t afraid to cause controversy by airing her views these days.

IT TAKES COURAGE

And her candour couldn’t be more timely, considering the number of Aussie TV networks in the headlines in recent months for all the wrong reasons.

“Whether the issue is bullying or something else, it takes courage to stand up and say what’s wrong is wrong,” Sandra said at the time.

It took even more courage for Sandra to speak out about the terrifying moment in November 1997 when she was attacked by a masked assailant in the carpark of her Sydney apartment and had a gun held to her head. The attacker has never been caught.

“It was at least 10 years before I was ready to talk about it to anyone other than my family, and probably 15 before I felt I could put it behind me.

“Symon is the best thing that ever happened to me,” Sandra said. (Image: Getty)

“I still don’t like to be surprised. If someone makes a loud noise, I jump. I am always aware in a carpark,” she said.

“You realise life can be snuffed out in an instant,” added Sandra, who admits the near-death experience “made me a lot stronger”.

Sandra’s stepdaughter Mia, 19, who she shares with her husband of 13 years, banking executive Symon Brewis-Weston, 55, has also motivated Sandra to continually speak out on women’s issues.

“I have this gift in my life,” says the beloved newsreader, who is passing her passion for feminism onto the teen.

“Mia is a beautiful young girl. I try to remind her that she’s a good person and not to focus too much on looks. That’s what I fear for young women today, particularly in this ‘selfie’ obsessed new world.”

Australian Idol star Casey Donovan lit up the internet with her huge smile when she announced her engagement to girlfriend Renee Sharples. The proposal followed years of struggling to win back her confidence after she was cruelly catfished.

Flashing a beautiful diamond ring, Casey beamed with joy in Renee’s arms as she took to social media to share her big secret and reveal the beautiful way Renee romantically proposed two weeks ago.

“21.06.24 on the strawberry moon of the winter solstice, the love of my life asked me if I wanted to do this life together forever,” Casey shared.

FOREVER PERSON

“The day I met you, home was no longer a place, it became a person and yes, you are a gypsy but there’s nobody else I would rather attach my wagon to on this beautiful road trip called life,” she wrote. “And with that, I said yes!”

Casey, 36, met Renee on the dating app Bumble in the middle of the pandemic lockdown in 2020, forcing them to begin what became a beautiful relationship with virtual dates over Zoom.

When they did finally meet, sparks instantly flew between her and Renee, who is a lecturer in paramedicine at La Trobe University. And they have been together ever since.

“I thank the universe every day for our paths crossing and I will be forever grateful and truly thankful that you are in my life,” Casey declared on the two-year anniversary of their love match.

She says their relationship blossomed after they both spent those two years listening, learning, understanding, compromising, hearing, healing and “most importantly” loving unconditionally.

THE MISSING PUZZLE PIECE

“I’ve finally found the missing piece to my puzzle. My wagon’s attached to yours and I love doing life with you,” she told her fans two years ago, strongly hinting that she had found her forever love.

Casey happily admits that Renee, who also loves music and plays guitar, has brought “so much more joy, happiness and laughter” into her life, especially after the heartache of being caught up in a cruel catfishing ordeal.

Just a few months after Casey won Australian Idol in 2004 at just 16, she fell in love with a man named “Campbell” online. Sadly, she found out six years later that Campbell was in fact a close female friend who made him up as part of a cruel hoax.

Scarred by that terrible betrayal and the pressure of instant fame and endless attention on her weight and image, Casey’s career also took a hit. And in 2016, she was driving an Uber to help make ends meet.

Fortunately, she never gave up on her showbiz career, which bounced back after Australia fell in love with Casey once more when she was crowned Queen of the Jungle on I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! the following year.

A STAR IS REBORN

A huge advertising campaign with Coles soon followed, while she also released new music for the first time in seven years and starred in musicals Chicago, 9 To 5 and in & Juliet – and she’s soon to take on her first-ever lead role in Sister Act.

Throughout it all, Casey never gave up on love, and her millions of fans and many famous friends were last week celebrating her happily ever after as she and Renee started to make wedding plans.

TV stars Virginia Gay, Nat Bassingthwaighte, Lynne McGranger and Sam Mac took to social media to congratulate the couple, while fellow former Australian Idols Rob Mills, Ricki-Lee Coulter and Paulini were also overjoyed – and Tina Arena posted three love hearts!

Besotted Casey says Renee “opened my eyes, heart and soul to what love is supposed to feel like”, calling her new fiancee “beautiful, kind, caring, supportive, understanding, funny, loving, talented, passionate… and beyond magnificent”.

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Better Homes And Gardens’ star Adam Dovile trades his tools for a spin on the dancefloor https://www.nowtolove.com.au/celebrity/dancing-with-the-stars-2024-adam-dovile/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518869 ‘They told everyone at school Dad’s wearing a tutu!’

Unfortunately for TV star Adam Dovile, Woman’s Day’s exclusive shoot with him and his adorable daughters Arabella, eight, and Ruby, seven, takes place the same day as parent teacher night at school.

“Ruby’s teacher goes, ‘Oh, I heard you were wearing a tutu today.’ And I said, ‘How did you know that?’ She’s like, ‘Oh, Ruby was telling the whole class she was doing a photoshoot and her dad was wearing a tutu too’,” Adam laughs.

OUT OF HIS COMFORT ZONE

While his girls have both taken dance classes since they were small, Adam Dovile, the 41-year-old DIY presenter says the only dancing he’s done before signing on to take part in the reality show “is what I like to call the European two-step, where I go back and forth with a beverage in my hand,” he jokes.

He and wife Lisa, 38, even abandoned a plan to perform a waltz at their wedding. “We did one lesson and realised it wasn’t for us. So on the night we just cuddled and danced around in circles,” he shares.

Adam says his time on the tools did prepare him a little for the Dancing stage. “When I had to lift my partner Jess [Raffa], it was just like throwing a stick of timber up on my shoulder,” he jokes.

“Just bend the knees and get them up there. I’ve been doing that my whole life.”

Not everything came so easily, though. “We’d rehearse and Jess would film it, and she’d tell me what I need to correct.

“So I’d work on my shoulders, but then I’d forget about my arms. You fix one thing, but then the other goes wrong. And then it’s just a constant chain of that happening,” he says.

“So mentally you’re trying to do that. And physically your heart rate’s pumping full-speed the whole time, because you’re rehearsing, rehearsing, rehearsing. It’s a lot. I think in eight weeks I [only] had three days off!”

Thankfully, there was still a bit of time for play, especially backstage with his fellow Dancing competitors in the men’s change rooms. “We had such a good time,” says Adam, who believes SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton, 43, may be the dark horse this season.

“He’s amazing. I don’t even know how it’s humanly possible to get as big as what that man is,” he laughs. “And he’s the nicest bloke as well. He loves being in that team environment supporting everyone.”

Adam also bonded with his fellow Melburnians, Shane Crawford, 49, and Ben Cousins, 46. “We don’t live in Sydney, so we stayed in the same hotel and went out most nights for dinner. It was good to get to know those guys.”

HEARTFELT CAUSE FOR ADAM DOVILE

“The hardest part was being away from family,” the devoted dad says of filming in Sydney. (Image: Phillip Castleton)

Of course, making new friends isn’t the only highlight of taking part in Dancing – there’s also the opportunity to raise funds for your favourite charity.

“I chose Prostate & Breast Cancer Foundation just because it hit a personal spot with me, with Mum going through breast cancer and Dad going through prostate cancer,” Adam says of his 71-year-old parents, who were in the audience cheering him on.

“They need all the support they can get. Because unless you’ve gone through it, you don’t actually understand how hard it is. And all we can do is try to support them as much as possible. And be there for them. That’s why I think it’s important we try to raise as much money as possible.”

And while DWTS has proved to be a challenge for Adam, he says it still pales in comparison to his first foray into reality TV, winning House Rules in 2014.
“That show broke me,” he says with a groan. “I could never put myself back through that. But Dancing comes a close second.”

Watch Dancing With The Stars, Sunday, 7pm, Seven & 7plus.
