The comedy chaos that is Thank God You’re Here is returning in 2024 with some of the world’s funniest performers walking through the brilliant blue door.

Some of the world’s funniest performers walked through the blue door to be welcomed with the iconic line, ‘Thank God You’re Here.’ All completely unaware of the scene that awaited them behind the door, their raw reactions only made the series that much more loveable.

In mid-July, Channel Ten put an end to fans suffering and revealed another season of “unscripted goodness” was returning for more laughs and surprises.

The TV WEEK Logie nominated series, Thank God You’re Here will return Wednesday August, 14, with the new season currently underway in Melbourne, Australia.

Bringing her wits and one-liners back to the television series as host is Celia Pacquola, who commonly features on Have You Been Paying Attention alongside our 2024 TV WEEK Logies host Sam Pang.

She even took a quick break from comedic television to put on her dancing shoes in Dancing With The Stars.

So, who are the celebrities walking through the blue door to be welcomed with the iconic line ‘Thank God You’re Here’?

Unfortunately, fans will just have to be patient with the full list of comedic talent not yet being revealed by Channel Ten.

In 2023, the guest appearances included Have You Been Paying Attention host Tom Gleisner, LEGO MastersHamish Blake, actress Roz Hammond, comedian Ed Kavalee, Heidi Arena, and many more.

Thank God You’re Here premieres on August 14, at 7:30 on Ten and 10Play.

The real reason why Krissy was so “mortified” after the FWAW 2024 finale https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/farmer-wants-a-wife-2024-tom-krissy-rejected/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 00:38:54 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=512552 'I gotta lot more to say."

In Tom’s final episode on Farmer Wants A Wife 2024, he dropped the ultimate L-bomb and chose to leave the series in a relationship with Sarah C. But his potential suitor, Krissy was left absolutely blindsided and heartbroken.

Upon hearing that she would have to leave the farm, Krissy confessed she “did not see [that] coming” after being “confident” in their connection.

Krissy was heartbroken.

Months after the finale has aired, Krissy alleged to Yahoo Lifestyle she had an intimate relationship with Tom during FWAW and remained so until the day he didn’t choose her.

“When I met Farmer Tom we had a connection straight away. It was obvious to me that I was his first pick and I am embarrassed to reveal we slept together on the first night at his farm,” Krissy told the publication.

Krissy further claimed the breakup scene was shot twice after Tom kept “mumbling.”

“Can you imagine having an intimate relationship with a guy for nine weeks and then being broken up with twice because he felt he needed to have a second take? I was mortified,” she said.

This isn’t the first time Krissy has shared her feelings following the FWAW finale. In a post shared to Instagram soon after, she expressed how she truly felt about the rejection.

Sarah & Krissy remains friends.
(Image: Seven)

“To say my heart was shattered into a thousand pieces, isn’t enough, because it’s in a million. ❤️‍🩹,” she began.

“If I know one thing for certain, it’s that I have always had the ability to love loud, to love whole and to love in a way that sees the best in people and it’s a simple request in return, the same as I give. 💛

“Unfortunately this time around, my rose coloured glasses were tinted a bit too much and it wasn’t meant to be.”

The 29-year-old continued to share her hopes in one day finding the person that won’t hesitate on choosing her. Thanking FWAW fans, friends and family who have showed love throughout the series.

“We are in an environment whereby we put our real life on hold and unravel ourselves for the potential of finding the one, but this time, for me, it crumbled,” she added.

Despite competing for Tom’s heart against Sarah, Krissy shared her love for her new friend.

“To Sarah, it hard to explain how close you become through an experience like this but I am grateful to have met you, shared laughs, dreams, tears, ghost stories and now ACOTAR with you. There was a respect for each other and our relationship and I will always be only a call or flight away 💕

One of Down Under’s most beloved reality television series, Gogglebox Australia is returning for it’s 20th season in 2024.

It’s return marks a 10th consecutive year of Gogglebox where regular – but much loved – households share their hilarious reactions from their living room to screens across the nation.

Returning to the new season is fan favourites, The Delpechitra Family; Lee and Keith; Anastasia and Faye; and The Daltons.

New additions to the Gogglebox family but still returning for the season are Adam and Symon; Kerry and Izzy and baby Ruby; Matty along with his two sons Malik and Lyon and uncle Jad; Tim and Leanne; Milo and Nic; Kevin and Bob; and finally, Jared and newest additions sisters Mia and Bree with their friend Lainey.

The 20th season is in fact the second season to air in 2024, after Gogglebox first aired in February 2024.

Sadly, the Silbery family hasn’t been full since 2022 after Grandma Emmie was diagnosed with dementia in late 2022. Since joining the show with Kerry and Izzy in 2016, the matriarch of the Silbery family has made families laugh.

“It’s been a tough few months watching my grandma deteriorate before our eyes,” Isabelle previously wrote in a heartfelt statement on Instagram.

“I’ve been supporting Mum, who has all the weight on her shoulders as she makes some big decisions for Emmie’s future. What’s best for her now is that she is safe and happy in permanent care just up the road, where we visit her every day.”

Since its inception, Gogglebox Australia has snagged a staggered six TV Week Logie Awards. Additionally, it has been nominated for a seventh time at the 2024 AACTA Awards, which is set to take place February 10.

It has also inspired the spin-off Celebrity Gogglebox Australia, which is an annual one episode special to raise awareness of ReachOut Australia.

Gogglebox Australia returns to TV screens on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 on 10 and 10 Play. For more on what’s happening TV, check out our comprehensive TV Guide

After an incredible 2024 season, the winner of MasterChef Australia this year has finally been decided…

Nat Thaipun has won the title after a final high-pressure and high-intensity challenge that pushed both remaining cooks to their limits.

Judges Andy Allen, Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli were beyond impressed with the skills both Nat and runner-up Josh Perry showed, and the incredible progress they’ve shown over the course of the season.

Nat received a score of 71 points out of a possible 90, just beating Josh as he had a score of 68 out of 90.

Nat’s victory clearly meant a lot to her, as she was instantly brought to tears when it was announced she had just claimed the title as well as $250,000.

“It feels so good! It feels like a dream, but it’s not,” she said in disbelief.

It was all love between the two finalists, with both cooks sharing heartfelt and genuine tributes to one another ahead of the big day.

“My finals buddy—congrats! No matter what happens tomorrow, your growth and hunger for knowledge make you the fiercest competitor. Let’s do this!,” Nat wrote.

Meanwhile, Josh shared, “I’d like to wish [Nat] all the best in today’s cooks as I have said all along you’ve been the one to catch in this competition and I’m really proud to be here beside you. Let’s cook our hearts out and enjoy today.”

Nat had a stellar season, and was a frontrunner to win from the very start.

The 28-year-old produced some of the best dishes the judges have seen in the competition so far, and even won the first and only immunity pin early on.

Nat constantly nodded to her heritage with her Thai-inspired cooking, and created incredible dishes packed full of flavour, creativity and technicality.

“It’s a proud moment when a judge tells me they’ve never eaten it before. That’s what I’m aiming for: to showcase Thai foods and dishes that people have never seen, because they’re so good,” she previously told TV Week.

But she wasn’t just a frontrunner in the judges eyes, but in fans’ eyes too.

The Victorian local was tipped to win the competition from the very start, with viewers taking to the popular betting site Sportsbet to share their predictions.

She remained in first place from the first episode right up until the finale.

Runner-up Josh “Pezza” Perry was also beloved by fans from the very start of the season thanks to his lovable personality and simplistic approach to cooking.

His philosophy was to create simple dishes that were executed well, and he was often inspired by the women in his family, which really resonated with viewers.

Whilst he came second, the 43-year-old from Tasmania was beyond grateful for the opportunity to partake in MasterChef and soaked up every minute of the experience.

Lovebirds Farmer Andrew and Claire Saunders, who met on Farmer Wants A Wife Australia 2023, have unfortunately cancelled their wedding.

The couple met during the thirteenth season of FWAW, with Farmer Andrew confessing his love early in the season to Claire and they exited together hand-in-hand.

Claire shared this statement to Instagram. (Credit: Instagram)

In early July, the bride-to-be took to Instagram to reveal she had chosen her wedding dress. But mere days later, Claire announced the wedding was cancelled in a cryptic Instagram story.

“My dogs and I have headed north to Darwin to work for the dry season,” she began.

“Andrew and I have had to cancel our wedding to due to reasons out of our control, but we are both okay. I’m not sure what else to say other than, sometimes life is hard and we all just need a little breathing space.

“There will be no farming content from me for the foreseeable future,” she concluded.

Many fans have been left wondering if the pair are still in fact together, an anonymous co-star from the FWAW 2023 season has now addressed such speculation.

“Last I heard, they’re technically still together but taking time apart and having a break,” the co-star told Yahoo Lifestyle, before revealing the decision to cancel the wedding was “led by Andrew.”

After FWAW, Claire relocated from Tasmania to Narromine farm near Dubbo to live with Andrew. At the time, Andrew admitted to Woman’s Day everything was “falling into place nicely.”.

“We’ve got a great life here,” she added.

Andrew and Claire’s engagement was announced on March 17, 2024, just four months after celebrating their first anniversary.

“𝟷𝟽~𝟶𝟹~𝟸𝟺 🤍” the pair captioned the Instagram post.

However, the announcement post has since been deleted from Claire’s Instagram page.

MasterChef Australia is back for its 16th season in 2024, and this year the show has a new look – Andy Allen has been joined on the judging panel by MasterChef alumnus Poh Ling Yeow, celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and food blogger Sofia Levin.

22 new contestants are vying for the chance to be named as this year’s MasterChef, and despite the series only starting earlier this week, fans already think they know who will win.

This year’s aspiring cooks will be pushed to their limits in numerous gruelling challenges, and eliminations will take place throughout the season.

Thanks to betting sites such as Sportsbet, we’ve given a glimpse into who fans predict has what it takes to make it all the way to the end…

The final two contestants have finally been revealed for the 2024 season of MasterChef Australia! Nat Thaiipun and Josh Perry will be vying for the crown in the finale.

Since the very beginning of the season, fans have believed that Nat is the most likely to win MasterChef thanks to her odds on Sportsbet which sit at $1.33.

Nat has consistently proven herself to be one of this year’s top competitors, having wowed the judges multiple times with her intricate, creative, and technical dishes.

Following behind Nat in second place is Josh P who has odds of $4.33. The Tasmanian butcher has become a fan-favourite contestant thanks to his lovable personality.

Josh has proven himself as a real threat time and time again this season, and has given everything a crack. He loves making simple food that’s executed to perfection.

The 43-year-old has stayed true to his roots and always draws on inspiration from the cooks in his life, including his mum, aunty and grandmother.

Sportsbet has made accurate predictions in the past, including for recent reality shows.

The 2024 winners of Australian Survivor and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! were correctly predicted, while winners of previous seasons of My Kitchen Rules, Big Brother Australia and The Masked Singer Australia have also been correct.

As we move further through the 2024 season each week, the rankings and odds will undoubtedly change, so watch this space for more updates.

The winner of MasterChef will be determined by the judges in the finale, with the final remaining cooks having to create difficult and intricate dishes.

Their dishes will be given scores out of ten from each judge and the contestant with the most points in the end will be given the title of this year’s MasterChef.

MasterChef Australia has a brand-new look in 2024, with new judges Poh Ling Yeow, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Sofia Levin joining Andy Allen in the kitchen.

22 contestants entered Australia’s biggest cooking reality show this year, and they will be pushed to their limits in mystery box challenges, pressure tests, and group service challenges throughout the season.

As the episodes progress, contestants will start to be eliminated and their cooking dreams in the MasterChef kitchen will sadly come to an end.

They’re competing to gain valuable experience from industry professionals as well as to win $250,000 to kick-start their food careers, but only one can win.

We’ve now reached a pinnacle moment in the competition, with the final three contestants being confirmed. Josh P, Savindri and Nat are the only cooks who remain.

See who has left the MasterChef Australia kitchen so far in 2024…

(Image: Channel 10)

Savindri Perera

30, SA, Banking Consultant

The final three cooks put everything on the line in a final high-intensity service challenge, in the hopes of making it to the final two.

Sadly for Sav, the judges weren’t as impressed with her dishes as they were the other contestants, and she was sent home.

“There’s always that disappointment because you want to get to the end but, after that cook, I felt a sense of relief,” Sav told 10Play following her elimination.

(Image; Channel 10)

Harry Butterfield

29, QLD, Commercial Property

The final elimination challenge before the final three saw Harry’s food hero Josh Nilard enter the MasterChef kitchen, and challenge the remaining contestants to recreate an intricate seafood dish.

As the self-proclaimed ‘seafood guy’, Harry really felt the pressure to impress his hero as well as prove himself as a strong seafood cook.

Unfortunately, as Harry told 10Play, he “wasn’t trying to do [his] best, [he] was trying to be perfect,” and he was eliminated after he misinterpreted the instructions.

(Image: Channel 10)

Mimi Wong

25, NSW, High School Teacher

As the competition had reached an all-important milestone – the top five – the remaining cooks were pushed to their limits in one of the toughest challenges yet this season.

The judges revealed five ingredients with extremely strong and distinct flavours, and tasked the contestants to create a dish that balanced one of them.

Mimi chose to utilise a bitter gouda, but she encountered some obstacles throughout the cook that meant one of the main elements of the dish, her brioche buns, were unusable.

This meant the dish wasn’t balanced and she was sent home.

(Image: Channel 10)

Darrsh Clarke

31, WA, Management Consultant

Chef Guillaume Brahimi challenged the remaining contestants to a gruelling task: making five finished dishes.

Though he powered through the recipe early on, in doing so Darrsh sacrificed flavour and attention to detail.

The 31-year-old’s plating was inconsistent, and there was shell in his crab meat, so he was sadly eliminated.

(Image: Channel 10)

Lachlan Whittle

34, VIC, Landscape Gardener

MasterChef’s infamous and iconic Time Auction challenge is always a difficult task for the contestants, and this year was no different.

The cooks were given 120 minutes of cooking time to bid in exchange for ingredients, and though Lachlan’s lamb kofta dish was executed really well, the judges thought it lacked cohesion and he was sent home.

“It’s a good dish but the real fault is that they don’t go together,” Andy Allen shared.

(Image: Channel 10)

Sumeet Saigal

46, NSW, Sales Manager

The contestants were tasked with reimagining the classic ‘bacon and eggs’ in a surprise elimination challenge, but unfortunately Sumeet struggled to execute her dish.

Her breakfast naan was inconsistent and she was eliminated.

“When they revealed that it was my time to go, the most pronounced emotion that I felt was gratefulness. That’s the honest truth,” Sumeet shared following her elimination.

(Image: Channel 10)

Alex Crisp

27, WA, Sales Representative

After winning immunity in the first round of Sweet Week, Alex didn’t have to cook again as she was safe in the competition. But she admitted that this may have contributed to her detriment.

“As much as it was cool to take a step back and not have to be under pressure every single day, it kind of played to my detriment because for so long you’re in this routine of constant pressure and stress,” she told 10 Play.

So when the contestants were tasked with replicating a technically challenging dessert with over 100 steps created by chef Hugh Allen, she struggled to perform and was sent home.

(Image: Channel 10)

Gillian Dinh

31, NSW, Lettering Artist

Although she was so close to gaining immunity all throughout Sweet Week, Gillian found herself in the elimination challenge where she struggled due to her needing to include coffee in her dish – a flavour she’s not a huge fan of.

“It was like being slapped in the face from the start of Sweet Week to then, here you go! Here’s an ingredient that you don’t drink and never loved eating, trying, consuming,” she told 10Play.

The 31-year-old was ultimately eliminated as her dessert was over-baked.

(Image: Channel 10)

Josh Clarke

27, QLD, Coffee Roaster

A plant-based challenge pushed the contestants to create a dish without any animal products, while still celebrating meat.

Josh C attempted to create a classic steak and jus dish using just carrots, however his reimagination fell short and he was eliminated from the MasterChef kitchen.

“Honestly, this was probably my least favourite challenge of all the challenges up until this point,” Josh told 10 Play.

(Image: Channel 10)

Sue Bazely

58, VIC, Customer Manager

The contestants were treated to an appearance from another guest judge, this time Australian celebrity chef Curtis Stone.

The cooks were challenged to keep up with Curtis in a brutal challenge and from the get-go, Sue struggled.

Sadly there were too many elements with issues in her dish, and she was sent home.

(Image: Channel 10)

David Tan

30, QLD, Pharmacologist

Guest judge, celebrity chef Rick Stein, challenged the contestants to create a dish that heroed raw seafood. Having never prepared raw fish before, David admitted he was nervous.

His tuna dish with raspberries and apple puree was labelled too imbalanced by the judges, which meant he had to cook again in round two. David’s smoked salmon with couscous and fennel salads was the weakest dish and he sadly left the competition.

(Image: Channel 10)

Savindri Perera

30, SA, Banking Consultant

A gruelling four-hour pressure test pushed the contestants to their limits, and they had to recreate an extremely technical and intricate dish by Darren Purchese.

Fan-favourite Savindri had a chaotic experience in the kitchen and she wasn’t feeling confident when she plated her dish in front of the judges.

Sav was ultimately eliminated due to her brownie being dry, and her cheesecake lacking balance.

However, in a MasterChef twist the previously eliminated contestants were given the opportunity to win back their spot in the competition. Savindri’s dish was deemed the best and she re-entered the MasterChef kitchen.

(Image: Channel 10)

Stephen Dennis

62, QLD, Tour Guide

All of the remaining contestants partook in an elimination challenge where the judges gave the cooks a seemingly simple task: creating a dish that featured egg in an interesting way.

Unfortunately for 62-year-old Stephen, his dish didn’t come together quite as he had imagined and he was sent home.

“Going into the challenge I wasn’t worried at all, but as I went through I started having cracks come apart and I suddenly realised I wasn’t working as well as I normally do. I wasn’t as calm as I normally was,” Stephen said after his elimination.

(Image: Channel 10)

Snezana Calic

40, VIC, Financial Services

Special guest Anna Polyviou, “the punk dessert” icon, challenged contestants to recreate an original dessert she crafted just for this challenge.

The dish was extremely intricate, and no element tasted like what it appeared to be.

Snezana struggled throughout the cook, with multiple elements needing to be remade, and although she managed to plate her dish in a way that looked identical to Anna’s, the flavours weren’t well-balanced and she was eliminated.

(Image: Channel 10)

Juan De La Cruz Torales Villarreal

39, NSW, Board Game Designer

Last night, the cooks were put to the test during a gruelling two-round elimination.

In the first round, Juan De La Cruz got overwhelmed by the challenge and wrongly assumed his dish needed to be inspired by guest-judge Luke Nguyen’s love of Vietnamese food. The dish was not his best and in the second round he returned to his Argentinian roots and made empanadas.

Unfortunately, the flavours were lacking and his time in the competition came to an end.

(Image: Channel 10)

Lourdes Leschen

22, VIC, Marketing Coordinator

In a tough elimination challenge, four contestants had to recreate a challenging and intricate dish.

Unfortunately for Lourdes, the youngest cook in the competition, her egg yolk and sauce were both overcooked which disrupted the balance of the dish.

The 22-year-old was sent home after the judges decided her dish was the least like the original.

(Image: Channel 10)

Lily Davies

30, NSW, Former Nurse

A classic MasterChef challenge, the blind taste test, had the contestants relying on only their senses of taste and smell to try and identify ingredients.

Lily was named in the bottom six after struggling to correctly name enough ingredients and had to cook a dish using only the ingredients from the first round where she struggled to come up with a dish concept.

The 30-year-old former nurse said she felt “really deflated” going into the cook and was ultimately eliminated after she was deemed to have had the weakest dish. Lily revealed she had a “gut instinct” that she was going home.

(Image: Getty)

Khristian Walker

26, VIC, Insurance Services

After being named in the bottom four, Khristian had to participate in this season’s first Pressure Test cookoff where he was tasked with recreating one of Jean-Christophe Novelli’s most intricate dishes.

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, nothing really seemed to go his way during the cook, and he was sent home after the judges decided there were too many elements that weren’t up to par.

(Image: Channel 10)

Jonathan Hooper

29, NSW, Carpenter

29-year-old Jonathan was eliminated after failing to impress the judges with his iteration of one of judge Andy Allen’s mum’s favourite dishes.

The carpenter had a bit of a mishap in round one where his cheesecake stuck to the pan and the judges struggled to get it out and he had to cook again in round two.

In the end, Sofia said the elements of his pappardelle pasta felt “clumsy” and the judges deemed he had the weakest dish so he was sent home.

(Image: Channel 10)

Steph Griffen

28, QLD, Events Manager

After a tough challenge where the contestants had to recreate one of Jamie Oliver’s dishes alongside him, Steph was sadly sent home.

The 28-year-old’s dish had some inconsistencies and her chicken was overcooked, and unfortunately that meant she was eliminated.

(Image: Channel 10)

James Holmes

38, WA, Primary School Teacher

James was the first contestant eliminated from MasterChef this season.

The 38-year-old from Western Australia failed to impress the judges with his squid dish which was undercooked and had conflicting flavours.

Poh described it as “one of the least impressive dishes” of the night, and with the other judges agreeing, he was sent home.

The Block confirms Daylesford as its 2025 filming location despite previous challenges https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/the-block-2025-filming-location/ Mon, 15 Jul 2024 01:53:31 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=1252356 The Network can't get enough of Daylesford.

The post The Block confirms Daylesford as its 2025 filming location despite previous challenges appeared first on Now To Love.

While fans are yet to watch the 2024 season of The Block, the brilliant minds working behind the scenes have already secured a filming location for 2025.

The renovation series will be travelling to the historic country town of Daylesford in Victoria for its 21st season.

For those closely following The Block may recognise the town name as it was previously intended to be the original filming location for the 2024 season. However, the local residents of Daylesford quickly disputed the idea, according to The Age which also commented the site approval by the Hepburn Shine was being challenged.

The network made the decision to ditch Daylesford for its special anniversary season and head to Victoria’s Phillip Island.

“We’ve had so many successful series in so many different locations, but we don’t go where we are not welcome,” a production insider told The Age. “Especially for the 20th series of The Block, which is so important.”

But it seems The Block producers couldn’t look past the beautiful town as production returns to Daylesford in 2025, meaning the residents appeal was rejected.

The wholesome town is located just over an hour drive from Melbourne’s city centre and is best known for its natural springs, scenic farmland and forest. It has also become a tourist destination for its Central Highlands.

In a statement to 9Entertainment, The Block’s executive producer Julian Cress said it was a “no brainer” to return to Daylesford.

“I’ve been spending time with the community and I think they are really excited for us to bring the show there next year,” he said.

“We also try to film as much of our show focusing on the local community and whether that be renovating a community project, or just being able to showcase great local artisans and businesses.”

Julian confirmed the housing getting a refresh in The Block 2025 are located on Raglan Street, Daylesford.

Dancing With The Star’s Julie Goodwin: “I’m Absolutely Devastated” https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/reality-tv/dancing-with-the-stars-2024-julie-goodwin/ Sun, 14 Jul 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519266 The star's determined to prove her doctors wrong – and dance!

The post Dancing With The Star’s Julie Goodwin: “I’m Absolutely Devastated” appeared first on Now To Love.

Julie Goodwin tells Woman’s Day she’s “absolutely devastated” after she was told by doctors she may have to sit this season of Dancing With The Stars out after tearing her calf muscle in two places.

“I was in enormous pain when it happened – sweating bullets. It was the kind of pain that you can’t even sort of tell people ‘I’m OK.’ Because I wasn’t OK, I really wasn’t,” says Julie, who injured herself rehearsing for the reality show.

RECIPE FOR DISASTER

“I had to be carried out of the studio, because I couldn’t even put my foot down on the floor. I was rushed straight to the doctor.”

And it wasn’t good news for the celebrity cook.

“The scan showed that it was very, very serious. Two bad tears in my calf muscle. There were tears,” she says.

“When I got that news from the doctor, I thought, well, ‘That’s the end of that, I just felt shattered.’”

Especially as the 53-year-old says she dropped everything for Dancing.

“As soon as I made the commitment, I put everything else aside. I was training five and six and even seven days a week,” says the MasterChef winning cooking queen.

“I ramped up all my exercise. I started training at a whole new gym as well as the gym I already went to. I really was committed to being as fit and strong as I could be because I didn’t want to injure myself.

“I didn’t want to not be able to keep up and I didn’t want to get puffed. I really did everything in my power to get in the kind of physical condition I needed to be in.

“It was months of hard work and then, right at the very last minute, right before I was going to go on and do my first number, this happens.”

After 15 years in TV though, Julie believes in the idea that the show must go on!

NOT GIVING IN

The pain was “unspeakable”. (Image: Seven)

And while it’s now up in the air if she’ll get to make her DWTS dancefloor debut, the determined star is going to try!

“I don’t give up that easy,” she tells Woman’s Day. “I’m stubborn. The doctors can tell me what the doctors want to tell me and I’ll take that under advisement and then see if I can prove them wrong.”

She’s also practical, though. “If I can’t get out there and dance I think I’ll need a while to recover emotionally because it’s just been a beautiful time and a really special experience,” she says. “I would really hate for it to end like this.”

Julie also wants to don the sparkles and dance her heart out for her three-year-old granddaughter Delilah.

“First it was my children, and now my grandchild, everything I do it’s just to show them you give things a go – and don’t be frightened to get outside your comfort zone because that’s where the best parts of life happen.”

SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton faces some huge challenges on the dance floor https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/dancing-with-the-stars-australia-2024-ant-middleton/ Sun, 14 Jul 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519585 'I got emotional'

The post SAS Australia’s Ant Middleton faces some huge challenges on the dance floor appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Ant Middleton has served in the UK Special Forces and climbed the world’s two highest mountains. But when he was asked to go on Dancing With The Stars Australia, he felt “a bolt of fear” go through him. The glitz and glam of the dance floor was way out of his comfort zone, but that wasn’t all.

“That fear of what people think about you, how people are going to see you and judge you, that hit me as well,” SAS Australia’s chief instructor tells TV WEEK from his home in Dubai.

“I’m going to be on TV doing a skill set I know nothing about. Obviously, failure is staring me in the face.”

Once Ant felt that fear, he knew what he had to do.

“There’s no growth in comfort,” he says. “So it was an instant yes, but with the engulfing fear of, ‘Oh my God – how am I going to come out of this?’”

Ant, 43, says training with his dance partner Alexandra Vladimirov for up to six hours a day was “intense”.

“I was sweating from the first minute to the last,” he says. “I’ve done more rigorous training than that, but the intensity and the different type of training that engaged different muscles… I lost a few kilograms, for sure.”

Training wasn’t just a physical challenge for Ant. Alex told him he needed to “bring the emotion” into the dance.

“I guard my emotions and keep them quite close to my chest,” he says. “But she was like, ‘No, this is the opportunity to let your emotions do the talking for you.’ It wasn’t until one of the routines that I got quite emotional, actually. I started really welling up.

“I realised the power of dance. That sounds really, really corny, but I realised, ‘Wow – there’s so much that goes into dancing.’”

Ant, who has four children – Shyla, Gabriel, Priseis and Bligh – with his wife Emilie, as well as a son, Oakley, from a previous relationship, says his family were “super-supportive” of his performances. It was just his costumes they found funny.

“[They had] a few laughs and giggles at my expense,” he adds, “But it’s all part and parcel of your family keeping you grounded.”

After Dancing with the Stars, viewers will see Ant in his documentary about climbing K2, the second-highest mountain in the world “but the most dangerous”. Beyond that, he’s keen for more SAS Australia. So which of his DWTS co-stars would do well on SAS?

“All of them,” he declares. “Everyone was committed, everyone was focused,” adding that if they did go on the show, they’d be in for a “complete shock”.

“They’d be like, ‘Hey Ant,’ and I’d be like, ‘Who the hell are you calling ‘Ant’? It’s ‘Staff’ to you! Right, get down and give me 20!’”

Dancing With The Stars airs Sunday’s at 7pm on Channel Seven. For more information on what’s on TV this week, read our comprehensive TV Guide.

EXCLUSIVE: “It feels amazing!” ‘Dream Home Australia’ winners Rhys and Liam open up about their “nerve wracking” win https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/dream-home-2024-winners/ Wed, 10 Jul 2024 01:52:14 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519242 They're already talking about their next show!

The post EXCLUSIVE: “It feels amazing!” ‘Dream Home Australia’ winners Rhys and Liam open up about their “nerve wracking” win appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
Dream Home Australia winners Rhys and Liam Almond were all smiles as they spoke to Woman’s Day, despite their throbbing headaches and lack of sleep from celebrating hard the night before.

Rightly so, the Queensland brothers walked away with a brand new house and $100,000 cash prize on Seven’s reality renovation show, so there was a lot to celebrate.

Dream Home winners Rhys and Liam Almond celebrate their win with fists in the air and big smiles

“It feels amazing. It feels like the hard work paid off. And it feels like it’s only the beginning,” gushes Liam, who left his wife and one-year-old daughter house-hopping between their parents’ homes while the renovations were going on.

The doting father hates that he missed his little girl’s first birthday, but says, “It was a short-time sacrifice for a massive gain. What we’ve managed to do is super special.”

Rhys found it tough as well to leave his partner, young daughter and one-week-old son for five months to go on the show. “It was really hard to leave,” he shares.

“I took a month off before he was born, so that I could spend as much time as I could with him before I went on the show.”

Of course, babies don’t always come when you want them to as was the case for this new dad. “He was two weeks late,” Rhys explained. “So, leaving him at only seven-days old was pretty hard.

A LIFE-CHANGING WIN

“But it felt like it was all worth it when Liam had his dream home revealed. It’s life changing for them. And I feel like I’ve done a massive favour there and then to win – it feels like a consolation. It feels great.”

With extreme gratitude to his brother for helping him get his dream home, Liam chose to give Rhys the entire $100,000 winnings. “My partner, daughter and I got the home, so as consolation for all he’s done, Rhys gets the prize money. It’s only fair that he gets it for all of his effort,” Liam says.

And a lot of effort it was! For five months, the brothers battled it out as one of six teams. The competition was positively fierce as well. In fact, Liam and Rhys, while hopeful they’d take home the win, weren’t entirely sure they had it in the bag.

Rhys and Liam being congratulated by competitors and friends Lara and Peter
Lara and Peter became more than competition, the four are now good friends. (Image: Instagram)

“The stiff competition was definitely Lara and Peter after they showed how well they could score. They seemed like reno rookies, yet every single week, they did really well.

“And, of course, the girls (Taeler and Elle) performed every single week. They just knew what they were doing. Every week they got unreal marks. It was definitely a tough competition,” Liam recalls.

RHYS AND LIAM WERE CONFIDENT IN THEIR BACKYARD

Rhys adds, “The process last night was so nerve wracking. But we were confident in our backyard. We were really stoked for what we created. And we were also wrecked by the end of it!”

Undeniably, the show is fast-paced and hard work. “There was so much work to get done in a short timeframe. It was just a super sped-up renovation. Everyone worked so hard to make it happen,” Liam says.

The winners stand in front of their new dream home
$100k and a beautifully renovated home – not bad for five months of hard work! (Image: Instagram)

So how did they keep their energy up to perform week after week? “I guess it was the drive to want to succeed and also … I’ve got ADHD,” Rhys laughs.

Even though the brothers weren’t used to spending so much time together, Dream Home seems to have strengthened their bond. “For a bit, we were pretty much sleeping in the same bed,” Liam laughs. “Two brothers spending that much time together was challenging. But it was rewarding as well. And it was fun.”

Would they do it again? Absolutely. The two made friends with the other contestants and hope to spend time together when they’re all in the same state.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE BROTHERS?

Dr Chris pushes Liam and Rhys on an outdoor swing

And they say Dr Chris Brown, the show’s host and popular Bondi Vet star, was an amazing bloke.

“He’s awesome,” Liam shares. “He’s just like the guy you see on TV. He seems like such a nice person and then you meet him, and he’s exactly the same – such a friendly guy.

“Basically, Chris is always good for a laugh and has a smile on his face. He’s really positive to be around.”

As for what’s next, well, the brothers say they’re open to doing another show. Maybe Dancing With The Stars? “If there’s another show going, we’ll give it a go,” Liam grins.

For now, though, Rhys and Liam are going to celebrate their wins with their families … and nurse their headaches!

Way before reality shows like The Bachelor or Married At First Sight hit Australian TV screens, we had good old Dancing With The Stars.

The show, which began in 2004 on Channel Seven and aired until 2015, became a rite of passage for young up-and-coming Aussie celebrities to strut their stuff and boost their media profiles.

Some of our most-loved celebs participated in the show before Seven announced in 2016 that they would not renew the program.

Now, Dancing With The Stars has returned for 2024, with a brand new contestants list.

So in celebration of the new season, let’s take a trip down memory lane to look at all of the past winners of Dancing With The Stars.

This was just about year before she tied the knot with her then-boyfriend Lleyton Hewitt, which whom she now has three children.

Fun fact: Bec’s dancing partner Michael Miziner is now married to model and Myer ambassador Rachael Finch, who he met on Dancing With The Stars in 2010 and married in 2013. Cute!

Williams and his beautiful blonde dance partner Kym set our TV screens on fire with their barely-there costumes and sexy routines.

Tom became a big fan of dancing without his shirt – and with abs like that, why wouldn’t you?

The duo salsa-ed their way to the top – and even started a little romance. They dated from 2008 until 2010, and now Luda is married to a new partner, Matt Wilson.

Meanwhile, Luke wed Raychel Stuart in 2023 with their baby girl being welcomed into the world in November 2023.

Country music singer Adam Brand and his dancing partner Jade Hatcher fell in love while competing together on the show.

At the time, Jade was 19, and 20 years his junior.

“The way I can describe it, is we relied on each other and became real friends,” Adam told The Daily Telegraph. “We just fell in love, we fell madly, head over heels in love.”

The couple married and moved to Nashville in 2010, but their relationship later broke down and they divorced.

“It was all too much. Too big. Too much. Too many things changing, too many things different. If I could do things differently, I wouldn’t expect so much from someone,” Adam said.

2010: Rob Palmer & Alana Patience

He’s became famous as the strapping young builder on Better Homes and Gardens, and treated viewers to more of his hunky moves during the 2010 season.

Ballroom dancer Alana helped finesse Rob’s two left feet and took the pair to the grand finale, where they managed to take home the disco ball trophy.

The X Factor finalist managed to nab a perfect score of 30 with his final dance partner Luda Kroitor, who also helped Luke Jacobs win in 2008.

2013: Cosentino & Jessica Raffa

Paul Cosentino, known by his stage name Cosentino, is an Australian illusionist and escapologist.

He was the underdog in his season of DWTS, but managed to prove the naysayers wrong and dance his way to the top.

“The Australian people want to get behind the underdog,” he told APN at the time. “I was judged very harshly. If you look back on the scoring and look back on social media people were saying ‘Why was he getting those scores?’ But it’s a TV show, and of course there’s favourites.”

“But at the end of the day we held up.”

2014: David Rodan & Melanie Hooper

Retired AFL player David Rodan embraced his inner dancer and shook his hips to Latin beats, taking out the top spot with partner Melanie Hooper.

Semi-finalist Tai Hara predicted Rodan’s win, telling APN he was the most consistent dancer throughout the series.

“He’s by far the best in terms of the entire series,” Hara said. “Anything he’s been given he’s absolutely smashed it.”

2015: Emma Freedman & Aric Yegudkin

The former Grill Team host killed it during her season. (Image: Channel Seven)

Emma Freedman absolutely slayed it on her season of DWTS. The radio and TV host is the highest scoring celebrity across all 15 seasons, with an average score of 27.8.

She was also the first female celebrity to win the competition since 2007.

“You are the best contestant we’ve ever had, without a doubt, on this show,” judge Todd McKennney told Emma during her grand finale performance. “We’ve seen more than 100 competitors come through.”

Emma said she was thrilled to be a part of the show.

“This has been the most incredible experience,” Emma said at the time. “I’m so glad I’ve done it, I’ve had the best time.”

2019: Samuel Johnson & Jorja Freeman

(Image: Seven)

Samuel Johnson was crowned the winner of Dancing With The Stars in 2019.

The 41-year-old actor took out the DWTS title and the glittering disco ball trophy in the grand finale, with the $50,000 prize-money going towards his charity Love Your Sister, which he began with his late sister Connie Johnson in 2012.

Samuel, who competed with dance partner Jorja Freeman, told TV WEEK that his sister would be “beyond proud” of him for his time on the show.

“I’ve always been a big worry for her,” the actor explains. “I’ve always been such a f—up. But I honestly think she’d look at me now and say, ‘I’m not worried about you anymore.’ It’s pretty cool.”

2020: Celia Pacquola & Jarryd Byrne

(Image: Seven)

Stand up comedian, writer and actor Celia emerged victorious in the 2020 season of DWTS with dance partner Jarryd.

“I’m so happy for Jarryd, he deserves this so much. It feels great to be on a show that’s inspirational and aspirational, it feels like we did some good,” Celia said following the win.

2021: Luke Jacobz & Jorja Freeman

In the 2021 All-Stars season of DWTS, Luke Jacobz took home the prize once again with a perfect 40 point score. He was initially tied with Season One champion Bec Hewitt, until audience voting swayed to Luke.

“To win is honestly the greatest achievement of my life. To experience it with Jorja, who is by far the most creative and talented person I know, is like a dream,” he said.

2023: Phil Burton & Ash-Leigh Hunter

(Image: Seven)

Human Nature singer Phil took home the coveted prize for 2023 after a tight competition with Home and Away star Emily Weir.

“I’ve had the absolute time of my life. And, you know, it is a competition but it doesn’t feel like it when you are out here and you are with all these amazing people. It’s been an absolute joy to be a part of it,” Phil said after his win.

Julie Goodwin was “devastated” after pulling out of her first DWTS 2024 performance https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/dancing-with-the-stars-australia-2024-julie-goodwin-cancel-performance/ Mon, 08 Jul 2024 22:23:32 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=519047 “We’d worked so hard..."

Julie Goodwin says she was “absolutely shattered” when she injured herself while training for Dancing With The Stars. Julie, 53, was unable to perform in the show’s first episode after tearing a calf muscle while launching herself towards partner Andrey Gorbunov for a lift.

“I just felt it go,” Julie tells TV WEEK. “I’ve never been shot but I imagine if I was shot in my calf that is what it would feel like.”

The former MasterChef Australia winner had put in “months and months” of training for Dancing With The Stars.

“We’d trained for a month on the Central Coast and of course I’d trained for a couple of months before Andrey arrived,” she says. “We’d worked so hard – we worked weekends, we worked weekdays – and we were so optimistic. It was just about to begin when this happened, so we were absolutely devastated.”

Julie was told that she should rest, but she wanted to do more than that.

“I didn’t just wait and see if it healed,” she says. “I got extremely proactive.”

She tried everything from ice and massage to acupuncture and homeopathic remedies – and even listening to healing meditations and healing tones in her headphones.

“I did absolutely everything within my power. It was just that feeling of ‘I’m going to give this everything so I’ve got no regrets at the end of it.’”

Two of Julie’s celebrity rivals on Dancing With the Stars, former AFL players Ben Cousins and Shane Crawford, gave her advice about recovering from the injury.

“They were helping me along and really giving me a lot of encouragement,” she says. “So I was very grateful to them.”

Will Julie recover in time to perform in the third week of Dancing With The Stars – or has her injury knocked her right out of the competition?

Either way, Julie says there were a lot of positives to come out of the time she spent training for the show.

“It was just pure fun. I had a real sense of accomplishment when I was able to actually put a few steps together. Once or twice I said, ‘I think I’m actually dancing!’

“Injury aside, I am so glad I did it.”

Hayden Quinn opens up about his wife and their “little baby” – and why he said yes to Dancing With The Stars https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/dancing-with-the-stars-2024-hayden-quinn/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 20:30:00 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518743 ‘She was my inspiration.'

When Hayden Quinn married American model Jax Raynor in Nantucket, Massachusetts, last year, they danced in front of their guests. According to Hayden, it was “very casual”.

“We did a nice little slow dance,” the MasterChef Australia favourite tells TV WEEK. “Nothing choreographed, more a moment between myself and Jax. I know some people do lessons and have routines and that sort of stuff – I was just trying to get through the day!”

(Credit: Seven)

Hayden, 37, says Jax has often tried to get him to dance with her in the kitchen.

“It brings back memories of her grandma and grandpa dancing together,” he explains. “But I’m not the best dancer, to be honest.”

Hayden’s dance skills have improved dramatically since signing on to Dancing With The Stars. But it wasn’t Jax who inspired Hayden to say yes to the show – it was his niece Harlem, who’s turning 11 and loves dancing.

“It’s basically her whole life,” Hayden explains. “I wanted to be able to be like, ‘Hey, I can do it too – your Uncle Hayden’s having a crack.’ She was a big inspiration and she helped me a little bit along the way.”

(Credit: Supplied)

Hayden, who’s part-owner of a gym, was fit even before he started dance training with his partner Lily Cornish. When he performs his first dance on the show this week, he has judge Helen Richey flirting with him, and fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood commenting on his “fabulous biceps”. But Hayden says he actually lost muscle while training.

“I lost a heap of weight from all the dancing,” he adds. “I was hungry a lot of the time.”

To fuel his body, Hayden would bring in the same “simple, boring, basic thing” throughout the weeks he trained with Lily.

“I’d bake a meatloaf on Sunday night and eat the same thing every day for five days straight,” he says. “I felt pretty bad for Lily, because she’s a vegetarian!

“I relied on my lovely wife to be providing the treats. She made some nice banana bread and different things for us along the way.”

With DWTS having finished shooting, Hayden is focusing on his “main passion” – the next season of his show, Taste Of Australia With Hayden Quinn.

“My favourite thing is telling a story of where our food comes from here in Australia,” he says.

Apart from that, he and Jax are busy looking after their puppy – “Peanut is our little baby at the moment” – and there’s also likely to be some dancing in the kitchen.

“I should be doing that more often. That would be a very lovely thing.”

]]>
A brand-new season of Dancing With The Stars commences on July 7, 2024, with a collection of fresh-faced celebrities prepared to don their finest dancing shoes and take to the floor.

Coordinated or not, twelve celebrities and their dancing partners all have their eye on one thing, the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. But only the celebrity with the most rhythm will take home the ultimate prize.

(Image: Seven)

Dancing With The Stars sees 2023 Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger return as host alongside Channel Seven newcomer Dr Chris Brown who has replaced Hey Hey Its Saturday Darryl Lee Somers after revealing his departure in 2023.

But who are the dance experts critiquing and judging the DWTS celebrity contestants? The 2024 DWTS judging panel is comprised of Mark Wilson, Craig Revel Horwood, Sharna Burgess and lastly Helen Richey.

Craig and Sharna both originally served as judging when the reality competition series aired on Channel Ten and were re-introduced onto the Seven program for the 2023 season.

Continue scrolling to learn more about the four judges taking their seat on the panel for Dancing With The Stars 2024.

Craig (far left), Helen (left), Sharna (right), Mark (far right). (Image: Seven)

Sharna Burgess

Australian-born, Sharna has been dancing since the young age of five years old.

While she joined DWTS Australia in 2019, and has remained on the panel ever since, this isn’t her first time working on the series. Sharna originally worked as a professional dance on the US season.

Mark Wilson

Mark’s legacy runs deep on DWTS considering he was a judge on the very first season back in 2004 and remained on until 2010. After stepping away from the competition for seven years, Mark made a grand return in 2021.

(Image: Seven)

Craig Revel Horwood

The Australian-born has a very successful career in UK theatre and judged on Strictly Come Dancing, a UK dance show.

Prior to judging on the Australian iteration of DWTS, Craig judged in the NZ version for three seasons.

Helen Richey

Helen has one of the most lucrative careers in dancing out of all the judges. She joined DWTS Australia as a judge in season 18 and 19, before a break in 2023. However, she makes a grand return to the panel in 2024.

Duncan and Evelyn brought the MAFS couple swap to real life: This is their love story https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/reality-tv/married-at-first-sight-australia-evelyn-duncan-77631/ Thu, 04 Jul 2024 00:44:30 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/reality-tv/married-at-first-sight/married-at-first-sight-australia-evelyn-duncan-77631 The pair are absolutely adorable together.

They entered the Married At First Sight Australia 2023 experiment separately, ‘wed’ to someone else. But Duncan and Evelyn found love in each other, and quickly became one of the most beloved reality TV couples.

In the months leading up to their relationship reveal, fans speculated Duncan and Evelyn were secretly dating after a spicy video was leaked to social media.

Ev and Duncan confirmed their romance in May 2023.(Credit: Instagram)

During the 2023 season of MAFS, Duncan was in a TV marriage with Alyssa meanwhile Evelyn was paired with Rupert. Fans noticed some sparks flying between the pair during the mid-season ‘couple swap’ when Duncan posed for some spicy photos intended for Alyssa. Despite the chemistry, their love story didn’t begin until after the experiment when the Sydney-siders begun to hang out.

“Some of the warm fuzzy feelings happened in the stomach and I thought ‘what is this’ and then… one thing led to another,” Duncan revealed in a 9Honey interview.

In the early stages of their relationship, the pair would “sneak around” in order to hide their romance from the public. And while we don’t know the finer details as to how Duncan and Evelyn first found that spark, the former MAFS groom has previously teased they “got together” during Mardi Gras in 2023 which is around February and March.

“Mardi Gras – a very special time for our LGBTIQ community, which is very close to my heart. It also happens to be the first time Ev and I got to together ❤,” he wrote.

Evelyn, Duncan and the two dogs in matching blue sweaters.

But more than a year since they confirmed their relationship in May 2023, the pair have explored the city as a real couple and have gone on many adventures together – letting their fans watch from social media.

Duncan quickly became the perfect “dog dad” to Evelyn’s two dachshunds, Pickles and Mustard. Especially after the couple celebrated a massive milestone in August 2023 – moving in together.

“Meet the Fockers! Me and Ev just moved in together, which obviously makes it heaps easier to couple dress. So let the good times roll and the colour coordination continue,” Duncan wrote in an announcement shared to Instagram, with the couple and their two dogs in matching blue sweaters.

Ready to settle down, the pair have progressed in their relationship quickly. But some fans have been curious as to how they make their relationship work given the age gap of 11 years.

“Honestly it doesn’t matter how old your partner is. If they’re not ready, they’re not ready. For me, Duncan and I’s age difference has been a blessing,” Evelyn, 28, said on Instagram of her boyfriend Duncan, 39.

“I feel like we’re on the same page in life. We’re going in the same direction, we want all the same things… It’s not so much about their age but I think it’s about finding the person that’s just ready and they could be any age.”

The pair continued to provide a glimpse into their romance on social media, with each holiday, fancy event and even promotional ad. In June, Evelyn graced the carpet at the Cannes Film Festival and travelled across Europe – leaving Duncan for nearly an entire month. However, he wasn’t completely bored as he went to climb “some mountains.”

Australia was shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of beloved MasterChef judge Jock Zonfrillo in 2023, and friends, family and colleagues mourned the loss of a wonderful man.

His fellow judge Andy Allen not only worked with Jock, but also found a best friend in him as well. More than a year on from his passing, Andy shared an emotional tribute to his late friend on a recent episode of MasterChef.

The five remaining contestants in the 2024 season of MasterChef Australia were asked to speak about who their food hero was, and Andy chimed in with an answer of his own.

“And all of you, you named a family member. For me, although I loved growing up on pine burgers, unfortunately it’s not my mother, but it’s our late, great mate, Jock,” he shared.

“The time that we spent cooking in this kitchen and creating an energy where people like you could just reach for the stars and succeed with everything you do – I learnt so much about that from Jock.

“And he taught me so much more, probably, about being a good husband, being a good son, and hopefully one day, me being a good dad. So, I miss him a lot.”

Andy’s tribute to Jock unsurprisingly had the entire MasterChef kitchen in tears, and viewers at home shared their thoughts on the emotional moment too.

“Wasn’t expecting that ❤💔 Never heard a more honest word spoken xxox,” one fan commented on Instagram.

“Jock. Fondly remembered,” another said, while a third added, “Most heartbroken moment this season 😢❤.”

“Oh Andy we miss Jock too. He had such a big presence ❤.”

“Jock is truly missed but love to see Andy stepping up and being his own leader for the show… ❤,” another wrote.

Andy has often spoken about his grief and how he is trying to carry on Jock’s legacy.

On the one year anniversary of Jock’s passing, Andy shared a beautiful dedication to his late friend.

“One year ❤ All I can say is we miss you mate.

“I miss chewing the fat with you about all things food. I miss the early morning on set FaceTime calls to Loz and the kids. I miss your Carbonara and Negronis. I miss your infectious energy, smile and laugh.

“I miss trying to beat you on any par 3 for a bottle of whiskey. I miss your hatred for pears and cinnamon. I miss you overordering every time and when I get full you say ‘come on Andy…’ I miss you laughing at me when my pants don’t fit halfway through a season of filming. I miss watching you teach and pass on your knowledge and wisdom.”

In an interview with Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little in April 2024, Andy confessed that he was originally unsure whether he would return to the MasterChef kitchen or not.

“It’s nearly a year [since Jock died]. Sometimes it feels like yesterday and other times it feels like it was a long, long time ago. It was hard. It was really hard. I didn’t actually know if I was going to do [MasterChef] again,” Andy shared.

“It just felt so wrong to do it without him, because we just loved it so much together and walking back into that kitchen was huge. It was… there was just this weight of grief over me.”

He added that he found the first scene of the 2024 season to be the hardest to film.

“I just didn’t know if I’d be able to get through it. I just didn’t know if I’d be able to do it justice, to give the show what it needed because there was so much grief attached to that kitchen. But I think it only lasted until… It was a hard first scene. I’m literally the only person in that kitchen. Just myself, no contestants,” Andy shared.

Jock passed away on 30 April 2023, and is survived by his wife, Lauren Zonfrillo, and his four children: Ava, Sophie, Alfie, and Isla.

In the very first week of MasterChef Australia, Nat Thaipun won this season’s only immunity pin and a trip to London to cook alongside celebrity chef Jamie Oliver in his restaurant. But the 28-year-old barista says her early success on the show proved a double-edged sword.

“It was a hard thing to start coming out so hot,” Nat tells TV WEEK.

“I feel I set my bar so high. It’s like, ‘OK, I’m going to have to grow from here.’ It was a lot of pressure – from me, because I’m so hard on myself all the time.”

While there have been ups and downs, Nat remains a favourite to go far thanks to her incredible Thai-inspired cooking, a nod to her heritage.

“I’m proud of being able to do that, because a lot of the food I ate growing up wasn’t that pleasant-looking,” Nat explains. “I’ve had to get creative to plate it up for MasterChef.

“It’s a proud moment when a judge tells me they’ve never eaten it before. That’s what I’m aiming for: to showcase Thai foods and dishes that people have never seen, because they’re so good.”

Nat’s parents, who ran a Thai restaurant when she was younger, were shocked when she announced she was competing on MasterChef.

“I actually didn’t tell my mum when I first applied, so they were confused,” Nat recalls. “But now, Mum is so funny – she’s been watching the episodes and texting me at the same time: ‘You should have done this’ or ‘How did you overcook that rice?’ [Laughs].

“I’m like, ‘You know what? I don’t know how. But it’s done now – I can’t change it!’”

“Uncoordinated” Julie Goodwin becomes a dancefloor master for her Dancing With The Stars 2024 debut https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/dancing-with-the-stars-australia-2024-julie-goodwin/ Tue, 02 Jul 2024 04:28:59 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518178 ‘I felt really good.'

When Julie Goodwin was asked to go on Dancing With The Stars Australia, she laughed.

“I said, ‘Oh no, no – it’s so lovely of you to ask me, but I don’t dance,’” MasterChef Australia’s very first winner – in 2009 – tells TV WEEK. “I fall over just standing randomly on the corner. I’m really, really, really uncoordinated.”

Somehow, Julie was persuaded to say yes – and, once she was committed, she was committed. She upped her gym sessions to get as fit as possible before she started training with her partner, Russian dance champion Andrey Gorbunov.

“I was going to the gym about five times a week and swimming about three or four times a week,” the 53-year-old explains. “I felt really good.”

She also made sure she was eating healthily.

“Every time I saw a cake, I thought, ‘If I eat that, poor Andrey has to pick that up as well!’” she says.

The training didn’t start out promisingly, with Julie falling up the stairs to the dance studio on her first three days, and treading on Andrey’s toes repeatedly.

“At one point, I trod on my own foot,” she remembers.

But they persisted, and Julie found herself doing moves she couldn’t have imagined ever doing.

“When Andrey said, ‘There’ll be a couple of lifts in this dance,’ I said to him, ‘I don’t know if I can pick you up,’” she says with a laugh. “I definitely didn’t think he could pick me up, but they gave me someone very strong.”

Julie and Andrey became close friends, with Andrey spending time at Julie and her husband Mick’s home on the NSW Central Coast.

“Andrey came to the footy, he and his partner came to our house for dinner, he came around for swims on hot days,” she says. “When we weren’t dancing, we were hanging out.”

Julie, who has three adult sons and a three-year-old granddaughter, Delilah, has also been busy recently touring Australia to promote her memoir, Your Time Starts Now. In it, she opens up about her struggles with mental health, which has led to a lot of people wanting to tell her their own stories.

“It’s a privilege to have people share that with me,” she says. “It’s made the writing of that book – which was very hard – worthwhile.”

As for what’s next, Julie’s just taking things as they come.

“I’m not overwhelmed anymore,” she says. “I don’t know what’s around the corner – and that’s OK, because I didn’t know MasterChef was around the corner and look what happened there. It’s all been a grand adventure, really.”

Home and Away star James Stewart hits the ballroom floor in Dancing with the Stars https://www.nowtolove.com.au/entertainment/dancing-with-the-stars-2024-james-stewart/ Tue, 02 Jul 2024 02:38:08 +0000 https://www.nowtolove.com.au/?p=518141 ‘I’ve always wanted to be a triple threat.'

In a move that could be seen as one giant jeté away from his role as typical Aussie bloke Justin Morgan in Home And Away, actor James Stewart is lacing up his dancing shoes and preparing to tear up the dance floor on the new season of Dancing With The Stars Australia.

“I’ve always wanted to be a triple threat [someone who’s skilled in three different areas, such as acting, music and dancing],” James, 48, reveals to TV WEEK of his participation in the Channel Seven reality show.

James Stewart smiles as he leans on a tree in a beautiful green park for his TV WEEK photoshoot.
(Image: Alana Landsberry)

“I’ve been acting and playing music most of my life. And I’ve always had a great respect for the discipline of dancers. So when they [the producers]approached me, I digested it for a little while and talked to my family and we made the decision that if I’m ever going to do it, I have to do it now.”

James adds that when he told 12-year-old Scout, his daughter with his first wife, actress Jessica Marais, she chortled.

“She’s a bit of a comedian at the moment, so she lets the silence do the talking. But then she let out a big, drawn-out, ‘Ooo-kaay….’ But she came to watch and after that she was like, ‘OK, yep – you’ve got this.’”

The actor says seeing Scout in the audience at every show was a highlight.

“She’s kind of into Billie Eilish [the US singer-songwriter] and doesn’t really do jazz hands that much, but she came and saw Dad get up and do something difficult. I’m so chuffed.”

(Image: Seven) (Credit: Seven)

James says he also got some advice from fellow Home And Away cast members Emily Weir (who plays Mackenzie) and Ada Nicodemou (who stars as his wife Leah), who both did well on Dancing With The Stars in the past. They told him to push through the nerves.

“They said, ‘Before you get there, you freak out, because you’re judging yourself. But once you meet the other contestants, you’ll have so much fun.’ And they were right. That fun is so contagious.”

With his co-stars’ and daughter’s support – and Home And Away kindly allowing him the time off to take part – James says he threw himself into training. But even for someone as generally fit as James is, it proved hard.

“I already knew I was going to work hard, but dance-fit is totally different,” James says. “They told me to stop lifting weights, as you want to lengthen the muscle, not shorten it. So I started doing Pilates and swimming and, by the time I got to Jorja Rae – my beautiful dance partner – I was able to throw my body weight around more.

“But I’ve used muscles I’ve never used before, and I honestly didn’t know my hips could do that! I’m not sure Aussie blokes have hips like Latin men, but once you start doing a Latin dance, you become sore in the hip flexors, sore in the butt and in the shoulders.”

James adds that he bonded with everyone in the cast – which includes MasterChef Australia legend Julie Goodwin, former AFL star Ben Cousins and SAS Australia host Ant Middleton – saying they’ll all “be mates forever”.

And, while it’s given the star a taste of the opportunities outside of the TV drama that’s made him famous, don’t expect him to leave anytime soon.

“I love Home And Away and I’ll stay there for as long as they want me,” he says.

MasterChef Australia is back for its 16th season. And we’re giving you an inside scoop into the life of a MasterChef judge. Oh, and we’re also sharing secrets from your favourite contestants.

Hungry for the details? Thought so. Let’s dive in.

MASTERCHEF JUDGE ANDY ALLEN

What’s your favourite takeaway? Andy, the laid-back foodie and chef, reveals, “I’ve been known to enjoy a takeaway tub of ice cream on the couch post-work while watching footy.”

Favourite place to go out to eat? His top-rated eatery isn’t a Michelin-starred restaurant but a cosy Italian place called Capitano in Carlton, Melbourne. “[It’s] my go-to comfort restaurant to have a great meal. The pizzas and the general vibe of the place just keeps me coming back,” says the 36-year-old.

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made… Cooking up a not-so-appetising round of lambs’ testicles (yep, you read that right!), has to be the most unexpected answer! The foodie told Woman’s Day, “In Spain while making my TV show Eat The World, Ben Milbourne and I prepared and shallow-fried some sliced lambs’ testicles, under the watchful eye of the owners of the bed and breakfast we were staying. They wanted the slithers to be the opposite of well-done – needless to say, the eating texture was not desirable.”

MASTERCHEF JUDGE POH LING LEOW

MasterChef Judge Poh Ling loves comfort food

What’s your standing takeaway order? “I honestly never get takeaway!” she insists. “If I’m desperado, it’s instant noodles or I call my Great Aunty Kim who lives around the corner from me.”

What’s your room service order? The comfort food queen, 50, confesses, “I get all the sides. Wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Yes, I do! Then the salad and steamed veg. I know. Weird.”

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat? “I’m not one for new places. I’m a creature of habit and strangely, I like predictability when I’m paying for food. One of my fave spots is Le Souk at the Adelaide Central Market. After ‘a date’ with delightful owner/operator Azou – he always greets you with dates and the warmest smile – I always go for the lamb and cous cous with extra harissa. It’s divinely comforting.”

What do you cook for a dinner party? “I used to be all show-offy, fancy pants but now I’m all for the one-pot comfort soupy noodles, simple curries, congee or one of my faves is moussaka. Because it pleases everyone and I can actually sit and enjoy the company rather than being MIA, slaving over the stove.”

MASTERCHEF JUDGE JEAN-CHRISTOPHE NOVELLI

Jean-Christophe is also a proud dad and husband. (Image: Supplied)

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? The French culinary genius never orders takeaway. He shares, “But once I sadly lost a bet with my kids and I had to get the full McDonald’s offering. I remember this very well as I had to discreetly keep the windows open for hours afterwards!”

What would you say is the worst meal you’ve ever made? “It’s never happened, and it will never happen, but the worst disaster I have had was to run out of gas right in the middle of serving up at a wedding. That was way back in the past in my early career,” says the 63-year-old. “This was always done by the maintenance man who I had recently sacked. Cheeky of him but then again, I’m still glad I sacked him!”

Where is your favourite place to dine out? “My daily appetite always follows my mood, and at this moment it’s the French bistro Les 2 Garçons in the heart of Crouch End in North London.”

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted? “I will definitely have unsalted and if there are no options, I would choose not to eat anything.”

MASTERCHEF JUDGE SOFIA LEVIN

Sofia is also a food critic and blogger. (Image: Supplied)

Can you recall a bad meal you’ve made? ”No disasters come to mind.

I tend to cook simple, flavourful food so there’s little room for error and maximal time for enjoying the company of others,” Sofia, 34, says.

What’s your takeaway order? “I almost always prefer to dine in, but when I order takeaway it’s from either Co Thu Quan or Tom Toon, both on Victoria Street [Melbourne].”

Where do you love to eat out? Sofia has a few favourites, but says,“The places I go back to are those that are close to home and consistently comforting, whether it’s a rich ramen from Tamura Izakaya on a lazy Sunday night… freshly piped Paris-Brest at Napier Quarter in Fitzroy or taking visitors to Footscray.”

What do you like to cook for guests? “I love attempting new dishes. Inspiration can come from a particular cuisine, condiment or cookbook. It’s a real treat for me to spend a whole day sourcing ingredients and cooking for people as I rarely have the time. It can be anything from a Korean banquet to a Mexican DIY feast centred around slow-cooked carnitas,” the critic shares.

SOME MASTERCHEF CONTESTANTS

SAVINDRI PERERA:

What’s your takeaway order? “I am a sucker for a well-made honey chicken with special fried rice (caveat: if the fried rice has peas, corn or carrot, I’m out. It’s a no-go), prawn toasts on the side if I am feeling a little extra hungry OR a pulled pork burrito with extra beans and sour cream. “

What’s your room service order? “I can’t remember the last time I ordered room service! Maybe a classic Eggs Benny and a glass of Veuve (in my mind this is all happening in a bougie hotel).”

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat?  “This is like asking me to pick a favourite child (I don’t have children).  One of my favourite places in Adelaide is a restaurant called Concubine who serve higher-end South East Asian food. For fried chicken and ripper cocktails + whiskey, it’s NOLA. For the most affordable Chinese and the best shallot cakes, East Taste. Bottega Bandito for sangas and Shibui for a sweet fix. Honestly, the list goes on, there are so many great places in SA.”

What do you like to cook at home when you have friends and family come over for a meal: A proper Sri Lankan banquet with a minimum of 7-8 dishes included.”

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made. The worst meal I ever made was this one time I forgot the kung pao chicken in the wok and went outside to answer a phone call and came back into the house to see billows of smoke and all the chicken completely turned to soot – that was hilarious.”

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? “Japanese Katsu curry, Takoyaki and a small miso soup.”

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted? “Under salted! You can always add more salt, it’s almost impossible to take salt away.”

MIMI WONG:

What’s your takeaway order? “Unashamedly, my favourite takeaway order is soft tofu and seafood Kimchi Jiggae with a serving of bone-in soy garlic fried chicken. Pickled radishes on the side.”

What’s your room service order? “Who has time or money for room service?! Go to the locals, speak to the man in the corner joint still serving tables in his sixties.”

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat?  “There is a hole-in-the-wall sushi joint in Surry Hills that forever has my heart. But I am currently loving Baba’s place in Marrickville. “

What do you like to cook at home when you have friends and family come over for a meal? “Noodles and broth! Congee bar! Duck tacos and margies!”

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made. “I baked a birthday tart for an ex-boyfriend once. It was an absolute disaster, amongst one of the first tarts I ever attempted, a chasm of chocolate and cherry, was basically falling apart when delivered. Let’s just say it was deeply metaphorical.”

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? “Okay as a Sydneysider, I am going to confess that ordering poke on a weeknight should be acceptable. Mushroom bowl at Fishbowl, highly underrated.”

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted?  “Absolutely over. Heavy-handed salter over here. That’s what the Margherita is for.”

JOSH PERRY:

What’s your takeaway order? “My takeaway order in our small town, there’s not much to choose from, so it would probably be BBQ Meatlovers pizza with double pineapple.”

What’s your room service order? “My room service order would probably be a burger and fries.”

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat?  “My favourite place to eat is a Chinese restaurant in Hobart called Kwan Ho.”

What do you like to cook at home when you have friends and family come over for a meal?  “My favourite thing to cook when family and friends come for tea is definitely my homegrown beef probably Brisket or a big Rib-Eye.”

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made. Not sure what the worst meal I’ve ever made is – there would of been a few! But, I really don’t like spaghetti bog.

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? I really am not a big lover of pasta, so that is what I wouldn’t order from food delivery.

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted?  I would definitely rather under salted then over salted.

NAT THAIPUN:

What’s your takeaway order?“I’m not a massive takeaway gal, but if I’m indulging, it’s gotta be something I can’t make cleanly at home. Wings with a side of fun (looking at you, Darrsh!) or some drool-worthy Korean fried chicken!”

What’s your room service order? “Believe it or not, I’ve never ordered room service! But if I did, I’d totally go for a sundae or something hilariously childish to contrast the whole room service vibe. Or maybe a cheese toastie, just for giggles!”

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat? This one’s tricky because it totally depends on my mood. Udom Cafe in North Melbourne is my go-to for nostalgic Thai vibes, while Dessous in the city has me hooked with the way Dan spins Thai cuisine into something spectacular.”

What do you like to cook at home when you have friends and family come over for a meal? “Definitely a spread of a variety of types of larb or a khao khua [toasted rice dip], sticky rice, and grilled meats or veggies. I love showing off Thai dishes that my friends have never tried before. Watching their faces light up with new flavours is my ultimate energy boost! Or if it was my family, like my parents, it would be to make something wearer palatable to them like a chicken parma with a twist [large dose of chilli]!”

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made.“Get ready to laugh: 2-minute noodles. My best friends Bronte and Clancy can vouch for this—I somehow manage to mess them up every time!”

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? “Two raw pork roast rolls. I was craving a roast so badly, but no shop or butcher had any available. Desperate times, hilarious measures!”

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted? “If I can tweak it myself, definitely under-salted. But if there’s a chance to balance the over-salted with some acidity, then I’m all in for the salty side!”

DARRSH CLARKE:

What’s your takeaway order? “A juicy beef burger with fries, and a Coke Zero. That makes it healthy, right?”

What’s your room service order? “Whatever is on the dessert menu! It’s almost always a brownie or creme brulee.”

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat? “We have a wine bar in Perth called Besk. It has the best-shared plates, an amazing wine selection and really amazing atmosphere no matter the time. “

What do you like to cook at home when you have friends and family come over for a meal? “Usually a lamb shoulder, with couscous, flatbreads and roasted vegetables. It’s a super simple with maximum wow factor!”

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made. “I don’t know where to begin, there have been so many burnt or undercooked cakes over the years. I’ll say a burnt Basque cheesecake that I forgot to add eggs to. It was essentially melted cream cheese.”

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? “The last thing I ordered was fried chicken. And the time before that… and the time before that.”

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted?  “Under-salted, because you can always add but you can’t take away!”

HARRY BUTTERFIELD:

What’s your takeaway order? “Normally takeaway for me is coffee! So, either a double shot flat white in a 6oz cup, an iced-latte 3/4 full, or a piccolo depending on time of day and my mood.”

What’s your room service order? “A juicy steak, medium rare, with chips, salad and probably some greens. Oh, and a glass of red wine of course! “

Where is your favourite place to go out to eat? “My wife and I don’t eat out much when we are at home, so tend to go to the same places. We love eating out when we travel! Our most recent trips have been to the USA, Fiji and New Zealand. Later this year we are doing a food tour through Europe.”

What do you like to cook at home when you have friends and family come over for a meal? “When we host family and friends I have usually caught or speared some impressive seafood. Maybe a whole fish, fresh sashimi, a haul of crabs or crayfish. No better way to share a fresh catch than with friends and family.”

Tell us about the worst meal you ever made. “Probably the almost raw lamb I served to the MasterChef judges and Andy Allen’s beautiful mum Maree!”

What’s the last thing you ordered on a food delivery app? “The last thing I ordered was a Red Tonkotsu Ramen from Taros Ramen! The best Ramen in Brisbane. Their Tonkotsu broth is made with Bangalow Pork and is super rich, creamy and a little bit sweet – perfect winter warmer.”

Would you rather eat something over-salted or under-salted? “Over-salted for sure! I used to carry an emergency saltshaker on me at all times. I even had one in my car.”

Nine’s Travel Guides has never been hotter. It’s topping the ratings week after week. And it’s just been nominated for Best Lifestyle Program at this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards.

But the show’s overwhelming success is quietly the cause of a major headache for the TV network behind the scenes.

While bigwigs are delighted that the popular travel series is thrashing its TV rivals, its surge in popularity has some of the lovable cast members wanting more in return – such as bigger pay cheques!

A PIECE OF THE PIE FOR TRAVEL GUIDES CAST

Since launching in 2017, the series has made household names out of everyday Aussie travel critics like Kevin and Janetta, the Fren family and Doris, Kev and Teng.

But TV insiders reveal that some of the cast are desperately hoping their salaries are increased to better reflect their star power.

While many might assume frequent travel and worldly experiences were enough for the stars, insiders point out that the show only films for a limited amount of time each year. That makes it difficult for the cast to find work outside of it.

In fact, sources suggest that contestants are often forced to negotiate ambassadorships and brand deals to pay their monthly bills.

Indeed, the Fren family are regularly spruiking lucrative partnerships with Jetstar and Travel Money Oz on their social media accounts.

SUPPLEMENTAL INCOME FOR THE CAST

Sources say that with the show’s multiple Logie wins, longstanding popularity and proven ratings track record, some stars are hoping for more money and better perks when cameras start to roll on the next season.

It’s believed that most of the stars signed on to the show in 2017 for a very small fee and now are keen for their contracts to include extended travel time, improved travel expenses and first-class flights.

TV insiders point out that the show has no shortage of people keen to be part of it. However, finding travel guides who have the personality and onscreen presence to really make people laugh is difficult. And the current cast know how to play the part of their “characters” to ensure variation across the guides.

In fact, fans are starting to wonder whether they’re playing things up a little too hard.

“They’re starting to change. So sad,” commented one viewer of the Frens.

The post EXCLUSIVE: Dancing With The Stars judge Mark Wilson – “I was shocked this year!” appeared first on Now To Love.

]]>
TV favourite Dancing With The Stars judge Mark Wilson is a little bit bleary-eyed, and barely out of bed, when Woman’s Day gives him a call to chat about the brand-new season.

But there’s a cute reason for his slow start. “I’ve got a beautiful little grandson. And he had his very first sleepover with Granny [Mark’s wife Annemarie] and Grandad last night.

dancing with the stars judging panel glammed up with Mark Wilson standing out
“It’s not all beers and bickies, but we all like each other,” Mark Wilson says of his fellow judges. (Image: Supplied)

Bennett is only 13 months. And he’s the lightest sleeper you’ve ever met,” says the Brisbane-based star, who is also grandad to two-year-old Elliot.

“I’d pat him on the back and sing him a song. And then he’d go back to sleep – so we did our grandparent job.”

Of course, the 61-year-old’s other, more high-profile job is judging the celebrity dancers on the reality competition – and he says we’re all in for a treat this season.

You’ve been a Dancing With The Stars judge and contestant all up for more than 20 years – do you still enjoy the job?

Yes, because the show itself has just sharpened up and improved – the season coming up is breathtaking!

How does it compare to past ones?

What I loved about this season was the celebrities. They were competitive. But they were competitive with themselves rather than being overly competitive with each other. They were such a joy because they worked hard.

Did any of the celebrities surprise you with their dance skills as a Dancing With The Stars judge?

Spoiler alert, I was shocked! When they first started moving, I thought, “What has happened?”

The audience is going to be so surprised. The change in some of the stars, who they would not expect to be a good dancer. You can see the ones who are really going to blossom.

Mark Wilson picks: The best and the worst contestants. (Image: Seven)

As a Dancing With The Stars judge, who do you think has been the best contestant over the years?

Luke Jacobz [who won the show in 2008 and again in 2021]. As a man so free in himself, he was so comfortable in his skin as an artist – he crossed the boundary of just being a good dancer and a good artist to bring something deeper than just steps and choreography.

Who would you give special commendations to?

As a Dancing With The Stars judge, I’d have to say Bec Hewitt [who appeared on the show in 2004 and 2021] and [2023 champ] Phil Burton – oh, what a beautiful ballroom dancer!

Who do you think was the least-talented contestant?

Farmer Dave [David Graham in 2007] was the worst. It was just awful dancing. And he knows that. And Derryn Hinch [in 2005], up there with the worst samba that has ever been danced in the world.

I’ve never recovered from his performance!

The mum-of-two – who’s paired with Adam Dovile this time – started a side gig as a personal trainer, with one client 2023 partner Matt Preston. “He lost 14kg on the show.

“We train three times a week still. These are the connections you make… living out of each other’s pockets.”

After 12 seasons on the show, the 38-year-old is still holding out for his dream dance partner! “I’d love to have Kylie Minogue,” he tells Woman’s Day.

“She’d be so good!” Unlike Dancing host Dr Chris Brown! “He came in for a lesson before the show started. And I ended up teaching him how to dance,” says Aric.

“He’s got two big left feet, so that was a challenge.” But luckily, he’s “really good” as host, he says.

Dancing With The Stars premieres 7pm Sunday on Seven & 7plus.

The Block couple became swift favourites during their stint on the renovation series in 2022. The happy couple shared an exciting pregnancy announcement to Instagram on January 28, 2024.

“We’ve been keeping a little secret … Baby Adams due July 👶🏼,” they captioned the heartwarming pictures.

The pregnancy announcement featured a collection of photos of the newly-weds hovering an ultrasound image of the baby over the soon-to-be mum’s belly. Sharing kisses and all donned in white, the pair have never looked happier.

Their former Block co-stars and friends flooded the comment section with love.

“Yasssssssss 🙌🙌🙌 I am so thrilled for you guys! You guys are going to be phenomenal parents ❤,” Sarah-Jane and Tom commented, who also recently welcomed their second child together.

With Sarah-Jane also commenting from her personal account: “Love you guys!! Best news ever ❤❤

In early June, the pair revealed they would be welcoming a little baby boy, sharing images from their baby shower (above).

“Baby Adams baby shower,” she wrote. “We had the most amazing day and got absolutely spoilt, baby boy is sooo loved by everyone already.”

In March 2023, the reality TV couple walked down the aisle in the Gold Coast, Queensland at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.

Jenny looked heavenly in an off-the-shoulder gown with a thigh-high split, while Dylan looked classy in a simple, black suit.

“We always knew our wedding day would be the best day of our lives. We honestly had the most amazing ceremony & reception 🤍Lots of laughs, tears, love, dancing, singing and pure joy the entire day. Couldn’t picture a more perfect day if we tried,” they captioned the wedding photos.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, The Block 2024 promises to be the biggest season yet.

It was a rocky start for Nine Network after its plans for the historic country town, Daylesford to be the new filming location, were dashed due to concerns from local residents.

And so, the producers restarted their hunt for the picture-perfect filming location for their anniversary season. With the season now well underway, we answer some of fans burning questions about the upcoming season.

When does The Block start?

The official start date for The Block is yet to be revealed. However, we presume the season will kick-off in August.

There have been reports the new season will commence filming March 1. With legacy presenter Scotty Cam, revealing on Instagram in late-February he was having a “family lunch” before heading off to “you know where…”

Who are The Block judges for 2024?

Hitting Phillip Island for The Block 2024 is legacy presenters Scotty Cam and Shelley Craft.

In 2023, the judging panel received a minor shake-up with Marty Fox temporarily filling in for Neale Whittaker. The same will be done in 2024 as Neale has decided to remain by his partner, David’s side as he recovers.

Co-judges Shaynna Blaze and Darren Palmer will also be returning.

Where is The Block being filmed?

Bidding farewell to Charming Street, season 20 will be moving to the remote Phillip Island which has a population of just over 7000. The sea-change remains just a 90-minute drive from Melbourne.

“The mayor of Phillip Island recently posted we were bringing the show down there. I’m as thrilled as he is,” the town major, Julian Cress told previously TV Tonight.

Who are the contestants?

The Network revealed the names of the new contestants in June 2024.

On the red team is Courtney and Grant; team yellow is Rickey and Haydn; team green is Kylie and Brad; team blue is Jesse and Paige; and finally on team purple is Kristian and Mimi.

The countdown has officially begun for the fan-favourite renovation series, The Block returning in 2024 and now the contestants vying for the top prize have been revealed.

For the very special 20th anniversary season, the beloved renovation show took over Phillip Island in Victoria.

Scotty & Shelly return for 2024.

A trailer shared to The Block’s official Instagram page revealed legacy host Scotty Cam and Shelly Craft arrive to an island in style – via helicopter – all the while revealing the identity of the five teams set to compete.

Each team donned specific colours: red, yellow, green, blue and purple, as The Block has done in the past to differentiate the teams.

On the red team is Courtney and Grant; team yellow is Rickey and Haydn; team green is Kylie and Brad; team blue is Jesse and Paige; and finally on team purple is Kristian and Mimi.

In 2023, team blue Gian and Steph Ottavio smashed Block-history with a staggering $1.65 million profit for their Japandi-styled home. Could their luck rub off on this year’s blue team?

Unfortunately, nothing else was revealed about the 2024 contestants, but we will be keeping a watchful eye on them!

“I tell ya, this is going to be the greatest one,” Scotty declared in the trailer. “Shell, this year. I’m taking this in a whole new direction.”

Suddenly the trailer takes a different approach, with judge Darren Palmer running down the beach shirtless in Baywatch style.

“This isn’t Love Island,” he laughed.

Darren, clearly returning for the new season, will be joined by Shaynna Blaze with real estate giant Marty Fox who is temporarily filling in for Neale Whitaker – the same arrangement fans watched in 2023 – however, he was not seen in the trailer like the other judges.

“We all hoped that by this year I would be able to return full-time to the show, but life doesn’t always run to schedule. David gets stronger with each passing month, but my decision remains to be at home as much as possible,” Neale expressed on Instagram, sharing the news he wouldn’t be permanently returning in 2024.

Filming for The Block commenced in March 1, however, the premiere date for the 20th season is yet to be confirmed by Channel Nine.
