When model Megan Gale first met former AFL star Shaun Hampson in 2011, their attraction was immediate.
But with Megan based in Sydney and Shaun in Melbourne, their long-distance courtship began digitally via Skype yet even through computer screens, their spark was undeniable.
“We’d start Skyping around 8pm, then look at the clock and it would be 4am,” Megan told The Australian Women’s Weekly in 2019.
“It was that giddy, high school thing where you could sleep for two hours then wake up and feel refreshed and energised. You’re glowing and bolstered by this new connection.”
Megan and Shaun bumped into each other several times for months, before they went on their first date.

But Megan’s public profile meant the paparazzi were quickly on her tail. Before the couple were even exclusive, news of their new relationship was made public.
Shaun was referred to as Megan’s boyfriend, before the couple had even had that conversation.
“I was like, ‘Hey, I’m trying to play it cool here!'” Megan joked.
But the scrutiny didn’t deter Shaun, who reassured Megan their connection was “something quite special”.

Now, over a decade later, the couple have two children together – River, and Rosie – and have been engaged for a few years, but are yet to set a date.
While their evenings were once spent attending glamorous media events and sitting front row at fashion shows, the genetically-blessed couple are now happily settled down with their little family in Melbourne.
And just like their parents, River and Rosie are full of life.
“He’s a pretty quirky, pretty cool kid,” Megan says of River.
“He feels very deeply. He’s very emotional and he speaks his emotions, which I’ve always taught him to do.”
And she jokingly describes Rosie as “a cross between a wrecking ball and a koala.”
“She’s cheeky, fearless, determined and just a firecracker.”
According to Shaun, Megan is the ultimate mama bear.
“Those animal instincts of protecting your young, she’s got it in spades,” Shaun told The Weekly.
Megan and Shaun love to post photos of their little ones on social media – and they make a seriously cute family unit.
And now, Megan’s two kids seemed to have grown up overnight, as the model has taken to her Instagram to share a very special milestone for her youngest – the first day of prep!
”So I blinked…and they grew up! Back to school today for 2023. Grade 3 for Riv and first day of Prep for Rosie. So proud of both of these little legends,” Meghan shared proudly to her Instagram.

In September 2022 the little family of four marked Rosie’s fifth birthday with an intimate party, Megan later sharing photos to social media. She captioned them: “Yesterday my best gal, our little firecracker, turned 5! The quickest 5 years of my life but they say time flies when you’re having fun and this girl proves it.”
The cake got a big thumbs up from the birthday girl!

For Mother’s Day 2022, Megan’s daughter gifted her a sweet letter she made at school that required her to fill out the blanks. The model seemed pleased with Rosie’s answers as she reacted with an answer and emojis.
A highlight was her answer to “I love mum more than ‘anybody,’ to which Megan replied, “Awesome.”
To “She helps me to,” she answered, “have food,” and her mum reacted, “True.”
Megan also shared a picture Rosie drew for her, and it was really impressive – she clearly inherited her mum’s arty gifts.

However, her son’s artwork was less wholesome but equally adorable. He drew a picture of his mum for his Mother’s Day, which Megan described as a “topless goblin.”

“Today was special,” she began. “Both kids got to visit Ikon Park for the first time, where their Dad’s football career first began at @carlton_fc .
“While they never got to see him play, they did get to see him ruck coach and attend their first @aflwomens ~ @carltonfc_w game for the intraclub match. They were both very keen to see the girls in action and Rosie in particular wanted to see how “strong, tough and brave” they were.

Megan’s Christmas Day family shoot may not have gone to plan in 2021, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Couldn’t do a nice shot, so we went with a crazy one 🤪,” she wrote before sending festive wishes to her fans.
