Kids say the cutest things and Sonia Kruger’s daughter Maggie is no different, her mum revealing the sweet comment the seven-year-old made after watching Strictly Ballroom for the first time.
The iconic Aussie film made headlines with a 7NEWS Spotlight special encore screening, which saw the original cast reunite for the first time in decades.
Sonia, who played Tina Sparkle, was among them, reminiscing with fellow stars Tara Morice (Fran) and Paul Mercurio (Scott Hastings).
After seeing her mum on TV for the special, Maggie begged Sonia to show her the iconic 1992 film and how could she say no?
Maggie, who is already turning into Sonia’s mini-me, was delighted by the Baz Luhrman flick but had one issue with the ending.
“I said, ‘did you like the movie?’ And at the end she said, ‘yeah, but I really wanted Tina to dance with Scott,'” Sonia tells Now To Love.
It’s been 30 years since Sonia played the role of Tina Sparkle, so did Maggie notice any differences in her mum, who is now 56?

“But she didn’t say I looked different, she said I sounded different. I think my voice was higher pitched then,” Sonia laughs.
She did an excellent job of portraying ballroom champion Tina, who can come across as a little petulant when she doesn’t get her own way. Has Maggie inherited any of that attitude?
“Luckily for me, she’s pretty measured actually. She’s seven now, so she’s kind of grown out of that phase,” Sonia says fondly.
“They really do start to mature a little bit when they go to school and we have the best time just hanging out together.”
As for what Maggie thought of her mum’s dramatic early ’90s makeup in the movie, Sonia reveals she’s already getting interested in beauty.
And it’s no surprise when her mum is so often dolled up for TV shoots and media events.
“Little girls, they start to gravitate towards makeup at quite a young age, but I keep saying to her, ‘you don’t need anything, your skin is perfect’,” the doting mum says.
