Netflix has confirmed a sequel to last year’s cheesy Christmas flick The Princess Switch is in the works, and Vanessa Hudgens will be reprising her role as Stacy De Novo Lady Margaret Delacourt, Duchess of Montenaro.

But, in a twist that would make The Parent Trap creators proud, the actress will be playing an additional third character because one Vanessa Hudgens is never enough.

The original film, which premiered on Netflix in 2018, was a a re-imagining of the classic The Prince and the Pauper tale.

Vanessa starred as both American baker Stacy and Lady Margaret. The pair crossed paths and traded lives when Stacy travelled to Belgravia to win a prestigious baking competition. Naturally.

The film also starred Nick Sager as Stacy’s best friend Kevin Richards, and Sam Palladio as Margaret’s fiancé Prince Edward. The girls switched lives, and love interests, in the first movie.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again will see Duchess Margaret unexpectedly inherit the throne, and hit a rough patch with her boyfriend Kevin.

Stacy needs to save the day, but the arrival of party girl Fiona foils their plans (because she looks the same as Stacy and Margaret, in case this complex and sophisticated plot was unclear).

If ever a movie needed a sequel, it was this one.

The Princess Switch: Switched Again isn’t the only Netflix Original Christmas Movie Vanessa will be starring in this festive season, with the 30-year-old actress also lending her rom-com appeal to The Knight Before Christmas.

With equal amounts cheese and made up kingdoms, this movie sees just one Vanessa in the role of Brooke, a clever and kind science teacher disillusioned by love.

Brooke gets the surprise of a lifetime when a sorceress transports medieval knight Sir Cole (Josh Whitehouse) to present-day Ohio during the holiday season.
