With almost one in two marriages now ending in divorce, it’s simply a fact of life that eventually some couples will split and find new love with a different partner – and celebs are no exception.

Because behind their sprawling mansions and pesky publicists, celebrities really just are humans being like the rest of us.

Their marriages end, they get their hearts broken and sometimes they find love a second time around with someone new.

In fact, some of Hollywood’s most famous couples are actually the product of a glorious second, or even third, wedding.

So let’s take a look at some of Tinseltown’s most iconic second romances and see which stars have found their soul mate on the second go.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban

About six years after her divorce from Tom Cruise, Nicole met country singer Keith Urban at a G’Day LA event in Los Angeles and the pair instantly hit it off. They were married in 2006 in a church in Manly and now live with their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth

Cruel Intentions fans will remember the steamy chemistry between a young Reese Witherspoon and her co-star Ryan Phillippe in the hit film, which also extended off screen. Reese and Ryan had two children together, Ava Phillippe and Deacon Phillipe, before splitting in 2006.

Then Reese started dating Hollywood talent agent Jim, who worked at the agency which represented her. The couple were married in 2011 on Reese’s country estate in California and they have a six-year-old son together, Tennessee.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson were once one of Hollywood’s golden couples before they split in 2010 after two years of marriage.

Ryan actually met Blake Lively while he was still technically married to Scarlet, on the set of the film Green Latern in early 2010. In October 2011 it was revealed the pair were dating and they were married in 2012 in South Carolina and now have two daughters together, with a third child on the way.

Amal and George Clooney

Amal is George’s second wife – he married actress Talia Balsam in 1989 and they divorced in 1993.

But it was actually a long time between romances for George. He and Amal were engaged in 2014 and got married in a gorgeous ceremony in Venice. At age 39, Amal become pregnant with twins and now the couple have two gorgeous children, Ella and Alexander.

Miranda Kerr and Evan Spiegel

The Aussie supermodel was married to actor Orlando Bloom for three years, between 2010 and 2013 and the couple have an eight-year-old son together, Flynn.

Now Miranda is married to Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel and wore a stunning custom Dior gown on her wedding day, inspired by the iconic wedding dress Grace Kelly wore to her own nuptials. The couple now have a son together, Hart Spiegel, with a second child expected to arrive later this year.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The stunning wedding of Harry and Meghan was watched around the world by billions of royal fans, but it was actually the second time Meghan had walked down the aisle.

She was previously married to actor and producer Trevor Engelson – they dated for seven years before marrying in 2011, but filed for divorce in 2013.

Meghan later dated celebrity chef Cory Vitiello, before they split in May 2016, just months before she was introduced to the dashing Prince Harry in London. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin

Alec Baldwin was married to actress Kim Basinger for almost a decade – they have a daughter together, Ireland – but had a messy divorce after their split in 2002.

In 2011 the SNL star began dating yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas and the pair were married in 2012. They now have four children together – a daughter Cameron and sons Rafael, Leonardo and Romeo.

In April Hilaria announced she was pregnant with the couple’s fifth child but sadly confirmed the pregnancy was a miscarriage.

Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet

Lisa Bonet eloped with rockstar Lenny Kravitz more than 30 years ago in 1987 and have a daughter together, Big Little Lies star Zoe Kravitz. The pair separated in 1993.

More than 10 years later in 2005 she began dating hunky actor Jason Mamoa and they married more than 12 years later in October 2017. The couple have a daughter and a son.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

The reality star and makeup mogul has been married quite a few times. When she was 19 she eloped with music producer Damon Thomas, but they were divorced three years later, with Kim blaming the split on physical and emotional abuse.

Km is also famous for having one of the shortest marriages in history, after her marriage to sports star Kris Humphries lasted just 72 days.

While Kim was still technically married to Kris, she officially began dating Kanye, who she had been friends with for years. They were engaged in 2013 and married in an extravagant ceremony in Florence, Italy in 2014.

The couple now have four children together – North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.

Julia Roberts and Danny Moder

The Pretty Woman actress has been married before, to country singer Lyle Lovett. They were briefly married from 1993 to 1995.

About five years later in 2000, Julia met her now husband, cameraman Danny Moder, on the set of her film The Mexican. At the time, Danny was actually already married himself, but he filed for divorce and in 2002 after the paperwork was finalised, he and Julia were married at her ranch in New Mexico.

They now have three children, a twin boy and girl and another son.

Danny and Julia have now been together for almost 20 years.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

Ashton Kutcher and his ex-wife Demi Moore were once the talk of Hollywood thanks to their steamy romance and huge age gap. They were married for six years before they divorced in 2013.

Ashton and Mila first met on the set of That 70s Show and later rekindled their connection in 2012. They were married in 2015 and now have two children together, a son and a daughter.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Tom and Rita first met in 1981, when she starred in an episode of the US sitcom Bosom Buddies, in which Tom played the lead role. But Tom was already married to his first wife Samantha Lewes. They tied the knot in 1978 and when Tom was just 21, Samantha gave birth to the couple’s son Colin Hanks. In 1982 they had a daughter, Elizabeth Hanks. So when Tom and Rita first crossed paths, forming a romance wasn’t really on the agenda.

Just four years later in 1985, Tom and Rita were reunited on the set of the comedy film Volunteers. Despite the fact that he was married at the time, the connection between Tom and Rita was too powerful to deny and finalised his divorce from Samantha in 1987. Just a year later in 1988, Tom and Rita were married and they’e been together ever since.
