In a heart-warming moment at Wimbledon, Catherine, Princess of Wales was given a standing ovation as she made her way to Centre Court to watch Carlos Alcaraz’s victory over Novak Djokovic in the men’s singles final.

The Princess, 42, looking radiant in purple – one of Wimbledon’s official colours – attended the tournament with her daughter Princess Charlotte, nine, and sister Pippa Middleton, 40.

This marks Kate’s second public appearance since her shock cancer diagnosis in March, following Trooping the Colour where she also received an outpouring of public support.

PRINCESS CATHERINE’S ROYAL DUTY

Princess Catherine has been the patron of the All England Club since 2016. And her ceremonial duties include handing out the winner’s trophies after the singles finals. It’s something the crowds look forward to each year.

Initially, plans were made for the Duchess of Gloucester, who has served as Honorary President of the Lawn Tennis Association for 25 years, to step in if the Princess of Wales was unable to attend due to her ongoing treatment.

However, Buckingham Palace confirmed before the event that Princess Catherine would indeed be in attendance.

And you could tell by Kate’s beaming smile at the event that she was thrilled to be back court-side, honouring the players for their incredible effort.

It was such a lovely moment, watching the Princess make her way down from the stands to the playing surface to present the trophies, the crowd in awe of Catherine’s strength and grace.

On her way, she smiled and shook hands with some of the tournament’s ball kids. She also struck up some friendly chit-chat with both players and clapped for Carlos after giving him the trophy for the second year in a row.

“ENJOY THE WIN”

Inside the tournament’s main stadium, Catherine told Carlos, “You played so well. Enjoy the win.”

On seeing Kate at the event in his post-match news conference, Novak said, “It was, of course, a privilege to be in her presence again. I’ve said to her that it is very nice to see her in good health. She seems to be in good health.

“That’s obviously very positive news for everyone in this country, but also for Wimbledon.”

After the event culminated, Princess Catherine shared a beautiful image of herself at Wimbledon, captioned: “Great to be back at @Wimbledon!

“There’s nothing quite like The Championships 🎾”

Of course, the Prince and Princess of Wales’ comments blew up with overwhelming positivity for Catherine.
